Thanks for taking the time to watch this. Just wanted to clarify this in no way meant to target, make fun of Nam or insult his intelligence. It is meant to show the harsh reality of the sport he and we all love. Nothing but respect for Nam, in his UFC run and legendary sparring videos he always show amazing heart and skill which is beyond admirable. This unfortunately comes at great a cost. To also clarify, Nam has mentioned in his videos that his family / friends have asked him many times to stop competing, he has made this very clear. He has caring people in his life. Also Nam impressively has successfully ran / operated his Gym for years. He’s very intelligent and this video on his speech change isn’t meant to question that. Wish Nam nothing but the best, he’s a true warrior / legend. He’s the first ever Vietnamese UFC fighter and he has inspired many.

@@Saidwhatyourethinking it is very obvious boxing does way way more brain damage compared to MMA. Plenty people died shortly after their boxing fight , never heard a case in UFC yet. Also, average time fighter spend in MMA is much less than in boxing because of ref 's stoppage , quick KO or submission, 36 minutes in boxing vs 15 minute in MMA. Let 's not forget most of MMA fight two fighter are just dancing around, even if they are more active, a lot of wild missing punch because their boxing skill is subpar compare to in boxing where most of the time they match a very high favorite to win pro boxer vs a " tomato can " fighter to boost record for the other guy. No debate which sport does worst damage, not even close.

I wouldn’t shove off slap fighting. You never know down the road they can do a study and show that also contributes to CTE. People think it’s not a big deal, but remember there are gonna be more matches due to people not taking it seriously. The more matches mean more trauma to the face. When someone is knocked out, their brain is involved and you see people getting knocked out cold in slap fighting.

There are other ways to feed your family. You're basically putting your brain and body on the line for a corporation to get richer. Meanwhile, they want to brush your CTE under the rug and would sign another fighter to take your place to be the next human punching bag. Stay safe. I'm sure there will be a big lawsuit around CTE for orgs. like UFC and the NFL sometime in the future

@@traiwitz2736are you saying that Foreman could still have cte?
@traiwitz2736
@traiwitz2736 5 ай бұрын
@@BobRoss-wm3lc yes and no. In all likelihood he doesnt, which is a genetic anomaly considering that he fought at the highest level even at an older age. But he doesnt present a clear symptom profile or obvious neurally atypical behaviors which means he doesnt have cte, or if he does it hasnt manifested to an extent that would affect his life. But if the latter is the case than it can hardly be considered cte, because all fighters have some extent of brain damage including myself, that doesnt warrant a cte diagnosis. The main prognoses for cte is 1) symptoms and behavioral issues and 2) a post mortem abnormal scan of the brain. Foremans post mortem could very well be akin to the normal amount of brain damage a man would sustain in a prolonged lifetime, as opposed to someone whose brain degenerated at an exponentially faster rate than what would be considered normal, as is the basis upon which cte is founded. CTE is a neurodegenerative disease, similar to dementia or alzheimers but affecting the brain, or degenerating it, in a different way. Foremans scan could show no indication of such accelerated neuro degeneration following his boxing career, and since he hasnt presented symptoms, he could be clean. This is why its said genetics can play a huge factor, ie the innate structural integrity of ones brain, the composition of their neurochemistry, and their potential for neuro plasticity. Those of whom with genetic gifts for the aforementioned areas will have a higher resistance to cte then most.

I first started getting into MMA in 2018 and briefly started training. Luckily the first DVDs I bought featured Gary goodridge and being curious I looked him up to see where his career went. Watching the interview where he’s talking about how CTE has crippled him and how he would be dead without his medication immediately made me rethink fighting. If someone that good and successful ended up in that spot, what would happen to the average Joe
@Duncle0
@Duncle0 5 ай бұрын
It's why MMA isn't an average joe sport. MMA is meant for people who have no other purpose but to fight even at the amateur level. You're not going to find a successful fighter who started because he thought it would be fun to do, it's people who've hit rock bottom and can't possibly think of any other way to move on in life other than by fighting for it. Most of these fighters had nothing to lose when they started, so the insanely high risk of CTE was worth the potential of being a superstar.

@@phoenixmodellingphotography Look at all of the successful fighters, most of them come from nothing. Conor McGregor, Demetrious Johnson, Alex Pereira, Francis Ngannou etc. Then you had people who started fighting for a reason, such as to prove a point or for self defense. Like Georges St-Pierre, Israel Adesanya, etc. Then you had people who started fighting because it was all they know. Khabib, Islam, most of the dagestanis etc. Then you had people who started fighting cause it was a last resort. Alex Pereira, Khamzat Chimaev, Jose Aldo, etc. Very few people make it as a hobby. Bo Nickal, Chael Sonnen and Ciryl Gane being the only three I can name right now.

@@Duncle0have you ever actually been to a real fight gym? Or sparred? Than you would know that the world is full of people who have professional lives but train and spar and participate in the sport simply because they ENJOY it and love it.
