Yeah I'm trying with him - It's more so I have the data to prove McLaren's 2019 wasn't what it seemed. if given the car, I do think Ricciardo could be super quick. But I don't think it's there just yet. regardless, a creeping midfield puts significantly more pressure on lewis. think of the undercuts now ricciardo can play with. He'll be a lot closer and within his windows significantly more. i'm stoked to see Ricciardo force Merc's pit wall fumble a bit. I like ricciardo when he has nothing to lose aka 2014. he will make mistakes, but his good moments will be BRILLIANT

CrankyYankeeF1 I think of Ricciardo as a very fast driver and one that’s significantly better than Bottas but I don’t see Ricciardo putting any pressure on Lewis unless the McLaren will dramatically improve. That will be difficult because even if the Merc power unit has more umpf, they will have to adjust their chassis to the changed geometry and with a limited budget I don’t see how they could (in less than one year) come close to Mercedes that has been developing their car for 7 years with a huge budget. I think the competition for the world champ will come from Max, Leclerc and maybe Bottas 3.0;)

First of all, thanks for the content you produce. My dad's been into F1 his whole life so I showed him your channel and he's astounded at the quality of your content. Keep it up! Anyways, you say that it SHOULD be a 1 2 driver dynamic. Are you speaking as Ferrari, since Ferrari historically has been very comfortable enforcing a 1 2 dynamic? Or are you saying that it is inevitable for any championship contending team to opt for this dynamic? It makes sense, of course. For example, Mercedes/Daimler AG has no reason to recruit Vettel alongside Hamilton. Don't fix what isn't broken, right? They have the best car, a champion driver, and a reliable #2. The only benefit of adding Vettel instead of Bottas is the insane racing and drama it would stir, which would mostly be for the viewers. Likewise, throwing Ricciardo in a Ferrari alongside Leclerc would be entertaining and competitive, but not in Ferrari's best interests. If exciting racing was the priority, there SHOULD NOT be a 1 2 dynamic, but given the best interests of the teams, I can begrudgingly accept things to be the way they are.

Giovannazi? Really? Right now, he's merely keeping the Ferrari seat for future Ferrari academy driver over in Alfa Romeo. Carlos Sainz is a proven driver for Ferrari's purpose.
@CYMotorsport
@CYMotorsport 4 жыл бұрын
if you think about it, isn't that what Ferrari are looking for? Depends on the purpose you reference. respectfully, notice how you had to use the word "driver" there. I can tell normally you'd say "race winner". That's my point. if neither will win races consistently, get the one that will surely do your bidding. My entire position rests with the marginal gap from gio to carlos is insignificant. You'll be very correct and I'll be proven very wrong if it turns out he improves significantly. But i'm interested to see what you think of my next video about Carlos's 2019 season. I'll show the math to prove how it's a clear average performance at best just by the data. Either way, good insight and appreciate these chats!

I see it as a future issue, I think Sainz is too ambitious to be a 2nd driver in that seat, unless he gets wiped off the floor by leclerc on pace they are going to have issues, it would of been even worse with ricciardo but if they had choose Gio it would of been really easy to manage the big issue would be if he is too slow.

It would be funny indeed, but if I had to put my money on anything, I'd say that Renault will just recall Nico Hülkenberg. The question is whether Nico will accept that, but I think he's keen enough on returning to F1 to deal with the awkward relationship between himself and Cyril Abiteboul again.
@andersbeider
@andersbeider 4 жыл бұрын
But why do you want a cheat back? :) no teams want him, and since he left he has been in charge of his own PR like a child. Sorry. But i sincerely hope to see Alonso stay away. But to see a 4 time world champion being a meme and maybe leaving the sport is injustice. This great KZbin has himself explained how Ferrari fucked him up; and especially in 2019. But will we see him in a Mercedes? I don’t think Hamilton wants that challenge. No matter what you think of vettel he is ultimately better than Alonso, better than Rosberg and Bottas so to see him possible leave is a big disgrace to the sport. Imagine if Hamilton was paired with Leclerc or Verstappen and got beaten with no support line and Mercedes dropping him out for Sainz. Where do you go? You might as well just leave. Nobody really wants that. I really want to see the super team at Mercedes and for me Alonso should stick with Indy

I personally think that Ferrari are the winners here. 1) They have a solid driver lineup with 2 amazing talents without breaking the bank which is what every team needs in the current financial situation of the world. 2) Sainz jr is young yet he has started more than a hundred races and they say that he is very good with feedback which would help them develop a good car. 3) Leclerc is a definite future world champion, if Ferrari's management team get their crap together, they can win the double championship this decade.
@alistairwhite8575
@alistairwhite8575 4 жыл бұрын
I do agree that they have a solid lineup, however, right now they are really lacking a few spots 1. management, binoto taking on a double role was not a good move and has set the team back a lot 2. strategy, so far their strategy has been less than ideal, BUT I don't think its as bad as some make it out to be 3. and they are also being incredibly pressured by red bull and maybe Mclaren, but I'm not so sure that McLaren is a big deal for them right now, just that they are pretty consistent and have had a lot of improvement in the last season.

As you said, Red Bull is a customer team. McLaren has 8 constructors championships. All as a customer team. It's about specifics. It's not one size fits all. You're racing, imagine, in Indy Car, and you go from Genassi, to a manufacturer......but that amazing new manufacturer is Trabant.....but then you move to Penske. Is that a net loss? He hoped Renault would be a works team competitor, it was going to nail it, and be battling in among Ferrari and Mercedes Benz. They weren't. It was like hopping to a works team in classic era Endurance racing, looking to be running along side Jaguars or Ferraris, and then coming to a realisation that yeah, it's a work team....but not all works teams are created equal, and you're in Skoda's. In this way, McLaren is a magnificent choice, and it is a net win, absolutely, for Ricciardo. He got to choose a trial at a Works team, and nevertheless STILL got a second chance, was actively hunted in fact, by an esteemed and storied championship winning team. But that should just tell you about how good the people who know, know Ricciardo is. As for Sainz, you're so good at this. Dead on. Sainz is NOT a #2, and he's not going to bend over to be one. He'll not be their man long if they don't get their expectations in alignment. More, I sadly think you're right, or possibly be, Sainz, is going to need someone to take a risk on him as an equal, or lead driver, or he'll end up a top tier journeyman, better than say Hulkenberg, who's always been overrated (just look at his career), but never given the opportunity his potential deserved. Seb? I'm romantically aching for him to replace Bottas, for Bottas to stay, even in Renault, but Seb v Hamilton. Yet I'm almost certain he won't take a demotion seat like Raikonnen just to stay in the game. I think Renault will be out of F1 fairly shortly.

@Apis4
@Apis4 4 жыл бұрын
@@jaysss6636 A real Lotus Works team, not just a leased naming rights scenario, with good financial backing and their very best designers and engineers would be good. But Renault just using another naming agreement to make cars running under the Lotus name in Lotus livery? That'd just be more bad cars due to more bad culture. I think Cyril needs to go, for sure, but I think more do too, they need to reset. The company needs to assign an even bigger budget whilst they can, before caps, and not just spend it on the cars, development and engineering, but on headhunting globally for the very best staff within the team for all major positions in the programe. Then they'll see results. But they won't do that. So they'll be gone after one season of the new regulations. They'll give it a season, to see if it plays to their existing strengths, and if it doesn't, I suspect they'll leave rather than developing said strengths to suit the new regulations.

With McLaren, their drivers and constrictors titles in '74 and '76 were as a customer team, but that was because pretty much everyone was using the Cosworth DFV. Their titles with TAG (Porsche), Honda and Mercedes were all effectively works partnerships i.e. they were the main focus of that particular supplier. Indeed, Mercedes had shares in McLaren until 2009. It was the same with Red Bull in their run of titles: they were Renault's main focus.

As a long-time Ferrari fan, I would have rather had Ricciardo at Ferrari than Sainz. Sainz did impress me over the years, and this may be a good move long-term for both parties, but short-term, I would have rather had Ricciardo. Somebody needs to develop the car. As for Renault, I'm a fan of Hulkenberg. It's a pity he left F1 when crash-out Grosjean and sourpuss Magnussen still on the grib.

Bingo! It should be about the car. Merc made absurd progress that really helped kickstart their dominance in the hybrid era by letting two world class drivers Go to war and push the car ‘14-‘16. So much so that Lewis carried the team alone while valtteri didn’t win a single race in 2018. There’s merit to stacking the team. I fear Ferrari just reverted lulling themselves back to sleep choosing safety as was done with Kimi. Meanwhile you have an insatiable beast at the wheel In Leclerc. If they want to dampen the spirit of top talent as was done with Seb, they’ve perfected the roadmap. While Leclerc will look like a rockstar, I fear for how he develops now frankly.
@alesksander

@@CYMotorsport Drivers dont develop cars anymore. Ferrari need stable team and just learn better engineering. Binotto know that. So decision was simple really. Ricciardo would be disaster for "rookie" team principal. He would be crazy if he dint prioritise the team spirit at first place. Maybe LEC will become next VET and drop ball with subpar Sainz. Maybe. But im not so sure. Because LEC is too harsh to himself so yeah i think that will never happen. Even more i think Sainz will suck in qually. But with top 2 teams worse than 3-6 he shouldn't be. So yeah he will turn heads in races i m sure. He will make nice head scratching for Merc, Rb strategiest. I never saw better option than Sainz in Ferrari really.

Great takes on the transfers... I was thinking Giovanazzi was the logical choice as well as it seemed that most top drivers wouldn't want to step into a number 2 role, where as Gio gets a big car upgrade and a chance to prove his skill + Ferrari Academy like you mentioned. I also loved this style of video, but one criticism would be that I don't think you need all of the fancy transitions and camera angles. The two camera setup works if you use them for cuts. If you mess up just turn to the other camera and continue, makes the video smooth by eliminating harsh jump cuts. It's easier to edit as well since you can cue off eye contact in the camera. I would consider removing or making the lights behind you static to aid in making whichever cuts you choose more seamless and less jarring. Instinctively, the move that seems like the right fit is Riccardo to McLaren. His personality should gel really well with them, on paper it looks like a great move and a massive coup from McLaren. Sainz going to Ferrari is really interesting. Arguably, Vettel just hasn't been himself so this is a great opportunity for Sainz and us to see what he's got, and to put Le Clerk under a bit of pressure. He was the underdog with Vettel but a different ball game with Sainz. The wait of expectation from Ferrari can be intense.

Great V Podcast Cranky Vettel for lack of a better word is a purist adherence to traditional rules traditional so called Formula 1 ways he said as much with an interview with Martin Brundle he has fell out of love with Formula 1, and more importantly with the V6 Hybrid era. Vettel has never got to grips with the regulation changes of 2014, his meltdown at the Canadian Grand Prix an interviews after that was the beginning of the end, lol here's another crazy idea when we all find out what Vettle wants to do you should do one on Vettel great work man.

@paul davidson. Lame excuse, if you ask me. Every driver questions themselves after not winning for a period of time. Fact is, vettel failed to adapt, or cannot adapt. The very best, adapt. How does a driver go from winning 9 straight races to being humiliated by the new incumbent. An f1 car is an f1 car, be it v8 v6, flat 12, winged or not. It is up to the driver to drive it to the limit. If Vettel fell out of love with the sport, he should've retired at the end of 2014.

Great video Nick!!! Some things I would change: Your graphs need to make more sense, like I don't know the driver's helmets. You should talk about what's written on screen and explain what's happening more thoroughly, everyone likes detail, but especially if you talk about it. You could read the statements/quotes you put on screen, it's hard to hear you and read at the same time. If you fix this, your videos will be gold! Looking forward to collabs with tommo and Aldas!

I believe that Carlos is the best pick. Giovinazzi in my opinion is a terrible pick. He is older than Carlos, he has show some promise toward the end of the season, but you cannot go off half a season. He needs another year or two to even be in question. Carlos is better than Gio in almost everyway. Daniel would not be much better for the reason that you stated in your video. He would not settle for being a number two. He would cause problems and would request a large salary. I I can't think of anyone else who would be a good pick. Maybe Lando, Russel, or Perez, but they all seem locked down with Lando being commited to the McLaren plan, Russel trying to go to Mercades, and Perez signing a 6 year extension I think it was.

P.S. I also think Seb will retire. The only realistic seat is at Renault, Mercedes' backup plan in case Bottas leaves is Russell. Seb would be reluctant to step down to a Renault team that has sort of hit a bump in their momentum from 2017 and 2018.

Excellent Episode... as always .. however I'd like to start with a few facts .. just comparing numbers although i must say that a direct comparison is somewhat unfair if u take into account the various cars and performances of those teams relative to the years one drove for them .. however C. Leclerc - F1 debut 2018 - Total points 303 C. Sainz - F1 debut 2015 - Total points 267 D. Riccardo - F1 debut 2011 - Total points 1040 M. Verstappen - F1 debut 2015 - Total points 948 A. Giovanazzi - debut 2018 - Total points 24 So IMO I think the next drivers ready at this time to go head to head with Hamilton as WDC contenders remain Verstappen and Leclerc. I don't disagree with your review of Danny Riccardo .. but unfortunately I see many great drives coming out of Danny Ric ... but the clock is ticking and unless he gets behind the wheel of a superlative car .. at this point I don;t see a WDC title for him in the future... so putting him in a competitive car at this moment (read Ferrari) against a young wild unbroken stallion like Leclerc would be disastrous at Ferrari .. The choice of Sainz IMO is a good one ... he is talented, composed as well as having a good disposition .. .the kind Ferrari likes its drivers to portray ;-) as well he is consistent , fast and has a good work ethic. I understand your choice of Giovanazzi ... I get it ... I'd like that too .. however ... I don;t think hes ready yet. What I find refreshing is that there seems to be a new wind blowing at Ferrari ... they are breaking away from hiring seasoned veterans and going with young drivers ... perhaps a commitment they made a while ago when they created the FDA including their cooperation with Prema Racing (or Ferrari Junior Team as I like ot call them ...lol) .. seems in a way Ferrari is creating their own star system In conclusion its unfortunate Vettle has been such a disaster for Ferrari ... I have to admit .. Ferrari has their share of the blame however 2018 and 2019 .. Vettel's meltdown of 2018 and consistent whining of 2019 did not help matters much .. in actual fact if I had been calling the shots his present contract extension never would have happened. For as much as I can remember I don;t recall once him saying that the car was 100% to his liking ... and strangely a young kid like Leclerc seems to be able to extract better performances out of that car tha a 4 time WC. On the bright side Vettle leaves a better Ferrari team behind him .. with a new leader and vision more in tune with today's F1 ... in actual fact the present F1 team amnagement structure was something that was greatly influenced by Vettel ... The appointment of Binotto and firing of Arrivabene was pretty much all Vettel doing ...given the fact that irreconcilable technical differences were the cause of the problems.. as a result Binotto takes over ... gives Vetttel technically everything he wants... rings the dinner bell but never shows up at the table, rather Leclerc ends up eating his ration ;-) Sorry for the long message .. but keep up the good work ... looking fwd to future episodes :-)

Ricciardo probably came out with the best deal here. With things such as they are and elite rides being scarce and coming at a premium, you have to say Ric is on the upshot. I wholly agree with you on Sainz. Ferrari is going to want him to play #2 and that’s just that. I think Sainz is more than capable of outperforming Leclerc on equal cars. Ferrari has been horrible at managing their drivers. Often stunting driver’s progress and even careers. As luxurious as driving for Ferrari would be, long term and career wise I don’t think it pans out for Sainz. Another video on point and mustache on fleak! PS, I am quite frankly tired of Alonso’s won’t he/will he drama. Imo it would be pretty embarrassing for Alonso to go back to Renault a third time. More so for the team than the man.

2012 was the last season Mclaren had a Top line car capable of a title push(reliability hurt it but it was considered faster then RBR that season), the best season Mclaren has had in the Turbo era was 2019( or 2014 depending the way you look at it), the engine regs have hurt them no doubt but are definitely a team like Redbull that can made a race winner as a customer I think they just need the regulation change to get that sorted as the clear gap between the top 3 and the rest is very well established at this point, the Budget cap though will certainly help a team like Mclaren I can see them being where Williams where in 2014 in 2022 but Mclaren have better facilities and Team then williams have had in that period.
@Bahamuttiamat
@Bahamuttiamat 4 жыл бұрын
@Dab Dab Goose yes but no. The 2012 mclaren was indeed inferior to the redbull by a quite a margin. Like last years ferrari, it had great quali pace but lukewarm race pace. They did throw away a godawful amount of points though. Too much is being made about being a works outfit. It was conveniently used by mclaren to hide their chassis deficiencies. Compared to williams and force india who both ran mercedes power, their 2014 was dismal. A good chassis will beat engine power any day. Mercedes wasn't even close to mclaren mercedes until 2013 until they built a decent chassis.
@DabDabGoose
@DabDabGoose 4 жыл бұрын
@@Bahamuttiamat it mattered more in the turbo era then the N/A era due to the engine and ers being soo large, being a works team you can shape your power unit layout around your car, you can't do that as a customer, But i think the advantage of that is minimised the longer we have been in these regulations but it's still terrible compared to the V8 era which was much closer, next reg change it is likely to become better due to the mgu-h delete.

@@Bahamuttiamat I have to disagree on 2012 though the Mclaren was the fastest car from the 2nd half of the season onwards and when you consider it was changing nearly every race before the middle of the season it's a fair assessment to say it's the fastest car, The Mclaren was in a position to win the majority of the 2nd half of the season taking reliability out of the question and won the most races in that time as well.
@Bahamuttiamat
@Bahamuttiamat 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not denying there aren't benefits but not nearly as big as it's made out to be. Renault was nowhere close to redbull. And are still a ways behind mclaren. Both mercedes and williams share the same PU. Today's engines are well within 1% of each other. Unless you're ferrari.. Speaking of the v8's. While mercedes and ferrari had the the strongest output. Renault was far superior in consumption and blown ecu. Even then it wasn't all that "frozen". Chassis and aero make up a much larger portion of performance than PU.
@DabDabGoose
@DabDabGoose 4 жыл бұрын
@@Bahamuttiamatthe way it has been for the last 2-3 season the top 3 teams are soo far ahead that the 2nd slowest team is much closer to the 4th fastest team then the 4th fastest team is to the 3rd team, with regulations soo advanced making up such an advantage takes years, in the early V8 era Redbull couldn't do anything about stable regs and they had Newey, they can make little steps but the real gains are to be had with the reg change as its a great reset. Although that is to be in question as the PU isn't changing that much and since it's introduction the evolution of stable regs has just made things worse, the current PU regs imo are terrible for a grid mixup.

Hey CYF1! Love the channel. Just wanted to share some thoughts on Ricciardo, I may be completely wrong and look like an idiot a year from now, but here they are anyway. Ricciardo's move looks like he's escaping a sinking ship. Renault have no PU customers from 2021 onwards, they've lost momentum since their 2018 season, and I dunno if they'll even stay in F1 beyond ~2022. Renault (the company) haven't been doing great due to the pandemic, and with the cost cap in effect from 2021, Renault are just sinking money into their PU and not going to gain much from it, it'll hurt their car development even more than it did pre-2020, and suppose due to this they are uncompetitive for the next season, Renault (the company) may pull the plug on the F1 project (or the team could be sold, like in 2011). Ultimately even if it looks like a sideways or backwards move for Ricciardo, he's been inside and probably knows better than the rest of us. Just my thoughts, I could be completely wrong, and Renault could be world champions lol.

I couldn't agree more. Renault haven't got part of their business being directly affected by F1 - they have no obligation to stay. McLaren however have F1 directly affect their sales, their brand selling supercars, and F1 sells supercars. If Renault can't get a good hold of the current regulations, then there isn't really reason to think that they'll nail the next ones either. Danny Ric made the right choice, and I really hope in the not too distant future we'll see him pushing for race wins again.
@andrewdonald2770
@andrewdonald2770 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think your view is that far fetched. Danny's departure was ordained already - no one changes contracts in less than two days - it takes longer to buy a house! Renault were not kicked in the privates, I think the accountants needed to get rid of the monthly paycheck and they won out. The "team" has failed to sell their PU to anyone on the grid and they are out performed by Honda. As a Rev Head, which car would you buy, a Honda hybrid or a Renault hybrid......? Add in the new changes, even more investment required, and the overall difficulties facing all of F1, it is not too hard to imagine Renault leaving the circus.

So far my silly season predictions for 2021 for the remaining lineups (various sources say Aston Martin are to retain Perez and Stroll) are as follows: Mercedes - Lewis Hamilton and George Russell Red Bull - Max Verstappen and Alex Albon/Pierre Gasly Renault - Esteban Ocon and Guanyu Zhou AlphaTauri - Pierre Gasly/Jehan Daruvala and Juri Vips Haas - Antonio Giovinazzi and Kevin Magnussen Alfa Romeo - Mick Schumacher and Robert Shwartzman/Marcus Armstrong/Callum Ilott Williams - Jack Aitken/Dan Ticktum and Nicholas Latifi Regarding the Renault seat, I think the Alonso talk is a load of wishful thinking and that the French outfit will promote either Christian Lundgaard or Guanyu Zhou depending who finishes higher in F2 this year (though the latter has an advantage of a year's experience under his belt and Chinese sponsorship money). Same story with Williams choosing either Aitken or Ticktum if Russell goes to Mercedes and Alfa Romeo as to which of the Ferrari juniors racing in F2 this year get drives at Alfa Romeo (or Haas if Magnussen departs for something like Indy, are still on the grid and/or using Ferrari power). Mick Schumacher's likely due to name recognition but I think Callum Ilott, Robert Shwartzman and Marcus Armstrong will be strong candidates (plus Armstrong, like Schumacher, is managed by Nicolas Todt).

I think he and Norris will work well together - even better than Ric and Max did. Agree on Seb on all points, Ferrari have poisoned his motivation and there's no first-rate seats to be had. Sainz, though- I agree he's not going to love being Leclerc's wingman- and I would not be surprised to see his experience seize more than one win. Let's hope in vain that they don't use him as a mobile roadblock for Wonder Boy.

I don't think Fernando will take the Renault seat, just because he said he'll return only in a competitive seat, which Renault isn't. About Ferrari, Gio fits perfect the N°2 role, but i think that he need to prove real good pace; a short span of data doesn't help to make trends and based on that, i think he doesn't have real pace to be on the level of Leclerc (yet). Sainz has pace imo, and if things doesn't go smooth within the team, at least he has a 2 year contract, so it'll be easy to get rid of him (knowing that Leclerc is THE project of Gestione Sportiva and all resources are on him right now) and put another FDA graduate (like Gio, which will have a proven pace by then). Said that, i think this is the last time Ferrari will contract external drivers, it's pointless expend a good amount of time and money on a driver academy and not using it. BTW, love your content, it's so detailed and well done. Keep it up! Cheers!!! :)

I’m essentially like a tiny margin off only some of you just said, in fact I agree with nearly all of it. I think the cynical side of me takes over re: Renault. You’re right about all of that and Alonso posturing making it clear he wants to win. But I bank more of how spiteful Cyril is. I can see him being very convincing. And how lured by the no lose situation Alonso is. If they present an incentive based contract that’s fat, he’ll love the challenge. And Renault has country funds to tap. Alonso is an idealist, not a sell out, but still likes a filled wallet im certain. And I not only agree on gio, I take it further. He’s no where near leclerc on trim or over one lap. The point was more so sainz is close enough to gio that at that point, it won’t matter to strategy. might as well take the guy who will take the strategy calls with smile. Once Shwartzman gets the super points, or mick for that matter, it’s too big a story not to give them the Scuderia drive. Or Alfa first atleast . Especially mick. I’m more so shocked they didn’t properly account for the FDA to your point . But. I one is talking about it for some reason. It’s odd to me. Awesome, detailed comment and thanks for the feedback, Joaquín!

Love the new format. Love the stache. Love the backdrop and F1 memorabilia. It's definitely a positive change because all the F1 channels use the same b-roll and stock photos. Much rather have this format, which is still very engaging and professional, yet personal.

I really pushed this in this upcoming video. Easily the best I’ve ever done. I think it’s a nice blend of personal flair and narrative structure. I appreciate the feedback, it’s lead to me to what’s truly think is a winning formula. I’ll be eager to hear your thoughts!

I somewhat agree with you on preferring Giovinazzi to Sainz in the case that it would benefit Leclerc the best, since the hierarchy would be much more distinct. But I also think that if we had Giovinazzi next to Leclerc, it might have been a lot like the first half of the past season with Gasly next to Verstappen. I haven't seen that much potential from Giovinazzi that I would confidently put him in a race winning car, and I'm afraid that if he was to be given a seat at Ferrari he would have driven around the midfield far away to do Leclerc any good. - But hey, In the end Sainz is the new Ferrari driver and we are all looking forward to see him in action!

totally agree. What I didn't cover is the downside protection. to your point, in this scenario they both fall a little short. but they don't recover the same. I see Carlos atleast surviving. Though, I truly think Leclerc is exponentially improving haha anyone would be doomed there. Gio might fully collapse. which would only exacerbate the problem - good point!

It’ll be interesting to see if the rumors of valtteri to Renault push Alonso in any way. I made a video on IG yesterday predicting Russell to Merc 2021 regardless of valtteri winning even a title. Tomorrow should be interesting as news hits most Fridays

I’d say the time window for Danny Ric to get a championship is about 1-3 years counting from now. He’s stuck in the weird time frame where he got his big break at the start of V6 turbo era, which causes him to be stuck between the youngling drivers such as Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz and Gasly, and the slightly older drivers, such as Grosjean and Hamilton. Championships prospects aren’t looking quite good in my opinion, maybe he’ll get runner up at most. Mercedes domination won’t stop, they’ve discovered the winning formula and constantly innovate at the same time.

Bingo! This is similar to the post Benetton titles mid 90s imo. Calm before a major storm. Good PU can pick up a couple wins then someone will snatch an aero loop hole

I seriously doubt Mercedes considering vettel to be Bottas' replacement. Bottas is an amazing driver who is respectful, reliable and quick, a perfect wingman for Hamilton. And secondly I doubt any team can afford 2 championship winning\ high egoed drivers monetarily and as a team, we all know what happened with Rosberg and Hamilton. It would destroy the team environment. And I don't want a driver like bottas out of a seat.

Thanks Bac! I’ll take that in and tweak things. One think I’ll add is multi cam is awesome bc it significantly reduces the amount of transition editing. If I cut a clip , I now need to cleanly edit into the next scene. But a b cam requires absolutely zero transition editing- just a straight up cut. Bc the angle is totally different You dont even notice. Which is nice . That’s said there’s been a few others who has commented and I already have some ideas how to make it less drastic. So this was really helpful ! Much appreciate - need to hear this stuff

As for your commentary. I understand why you said what you said regarding it being the wrong timing for Sainz. But to me I don’t know if you sold me on why Giovinazzi is even ready for the jump to Ferrari. With Gio I think it would be entirely ceding the constructors title and going all in for a drivers’ title for Charles. With Sainz at least there’s a better shot at the Constructors’. Alfa even considered at one point last season to dump him. He rebounded from Monza onward but it’s about him now and not the Ferrari drivers’ academy necessarily. Not enough justification

Spot on. Bc it’s not ideal and I can’t convince anyone gio is “right” based on pace or merit. Just better for Leclerc. I totally agree I could have gone deeper ht you’ll see why later this week or early next haha method to the madness 😉

Hey Cranky. I love your videos man. However i have some constructive criticism for this one. I see that you are trying to structure the video according to drivers and teams. However like in the part about Vettel, I feel like half of that was about Alonso. Of course it is a factor in his possibilities of moving to renault But I would keep this segment to Vettel. Mention why he wont move to renault. And then lead into the segment touching on alonso. Now I feel like we got a segment that was supposed to be on Vettel but drifted into alonso. This is fine if the video was totally improv. Now it gets weird. You probably had some sort of script. But It feels like you talked freely and then tried to split this up and put it in different segments. The whole video suffers from this. The feeling I get is that we have moved on from the drive we were talking about. But the you end segment and you summarized it. But by the time you end the segment you have talked about something else for a while. I get that the subjects intertwine but in a video like this you should maybe not try to fit everything into folders when the subject is so fluid. Now, I still loved the video. I hope that I was constructive. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

McLaren in late 1990s might not have been manufacturer team, but they WERE at the forefront of Merc's F1 efforts at the time as there wasn't a Silver Arrows factory team back then. McLaren-Merc of 2021 up against the factory team? Tricky.....

I enjoy watching your videos, my interest in F1 has grown over the past year and a half. I thought your video for new F1 fans was a great watch. This was also a great analysis for the current F1 situation, could you make a video to expand on the future of Mercedes. Will Lewis stay, will George put on his big boy pants and move up or will they have a different strategy for their future. Keep up the outstanding quality of videos.

Thanks nick. Yeah I really should do it. At first I was unsure what Merc would do but I would bet they wanna wait to go racing. Valtteri has been so hot and cold. It would make sense to wait. So a video breaking down what may come next is in order . Thanks for the suggestion! Between videos I’m usually 110% busy on a big project like the one I’m on now but I’ll be ready to post that soon. Then I’ll can take another look at that.

I still don't see why everyone considers being a works team as an irrefutable advantage over being a customer team, particularly in the case of Renault. Not only have they lost all their customers, they haven't made much progress since their return, they went backwards last year and their customer teams beat them. The usual advantages of being a works team seem meaningless when it comes to Renault. Cyril brags about having lots of money and snagging Daniel from Red Bull and McLaren but what did that accomplish? I genuinely think Daniel won here and got off the ship before it struck an iceberg.

Correct they are ironic exception that is why Renault is so criticized. On paper they should be top 3. Their chassis Is just dog Shit. But now they are essentially on par with any customer team considering they supply no one haha

I'm interested in peoples take on the Ferrari seat now 9 months later. Does their poor season make the Sainz decision a better one? Ie the need for points and to prove Ferrari hasn't taken a long term step backwards? Or would next season be a throwaway before the new regulations and a good time to work a young driver into the team with no concern for the final season of that chassis?

Directly from bell! Big fan of going to the I’m directly. The quality makes a different in the tiny details. Problem is they don’t make many helmets all the time. So I gotta wait :( need to find someone to commission the obscure champion helmets so if you ever find the Lauda’s or Scheckter’s let me know. Otherwise I’ll have to bust my ass to make the channel so big I can afford 1:1 helmets for all the champions haha
