IMSA has LMP2 cars to run full season because of 2500 production per year as IMSA's/NASCAR's regulations while in WEC, they only race in Le Mans because they have way more manufacturer brands to race in both hypercar and GT3 class which entirely occupied the LMP2 spots but both IMSA & WEC are in the golden age of motorsport racing.

Correction: 2025 is the first time in 14 years since Aston Martin is competing for overall wins. The last time they did, in 2011, the AMR-One was rushed, off the pace (slower than front runners in LMP2), and unreliable. So bad the year was going for Aston's works team, they switched back to the DBR1-2 which ironically, finished in the top 10 overall in that year's le mans as well as competing in the American Le Mans Series courtesy of Muscle Milk

Interestingly, the "modern" AMR-One LMP1 has been reworked for Endurance Legends Historic Series, and has appeared a few times and seems to work now. Its initial launch was rushed to much and underfunded, (not dissimilar to the story of the front engined Nissan LMP1 a few years back).

The lack of a hybrid system may hurt the Valkyrie as the SCG project showed. Unless the grip overcomes the defect, I'm suspecting the car to be off the pace this year from Qatar to Bahrain. As for drivers that could be apart of the operation, Thiim and Soronsen come to mind as well as Gunn and De Angelis. Aside from Tincknell, most of Aston's lineup doesn't have much prototype experience and could show inconsistency and erraticity which BMW's IMSA lineup had until they benched De Phillippi and Krohn

The Valkyrie is also the only V12 car in WEC. Both street & AMR Pro variant are hybrid while the LMH variant isn't, so I hope it won't repeat the failures like both Glickenhaus and Vanwall that are non-hybrid hypercars. Most V12 race cars won every series whenever they participate but don't forget that the Jaguar XJR-9/12, McLaren F1 GTR, BMW LMR, Ferrari 250 LM and the Audi R10 are the V12 champions. I'm expecting that the Valkyrie can make history as the another V12 champion too but also I wish Honda should join too by summoning the rebranded Acura hypercar plus, the Lamborghini along with the Temerario and Mazda should return to Le Mans and rejoin WEC with both GT3 car & rotary-hybrid powered hypercar.

Although this will be the first LMH car derived from a road car, the Valkyrie road car is, to me, like the GT1 cars of the mid to late 1990s, where many of the “road” cars were essentially purpose built race cars masquerading as road cars. The Valkyrie LMH is also derived from the AMR Pro which is a very different beast to the standard Valkyrie, with only superficial similarities.

For one thing, it’s nice to finally see an LMH built car in IMSA (even if we do have to wait another race to finally see it in IMSA) but I there’s definitely a lot of questions that surround the Valkyrie, especially in IMSA. The big ones for IMSA being, more so a 2 for 1, how the car will fair against its LMDh counterparts in terms of BoP with it being both an LMH car and a non hybrid. Especially since we’ve seen in the WEC already how non hybrid LMH cars fair against the hybrid powered LMH and LMDh machinery, albeit with manufacturers that don’t have the same funding as the likes of Toyota, Ferrari, and Porsche for example. Reliability wise it should hopefully have a better run than Lamborghini’s first year with the SC63 as long as all goes well. Aston Martin and Heart of Racing will definitely have the new car first year gremlins, but as long as all goes well for the team and manufacturer, they should theoretically have a season similar to BMW and Alpine’s season in WEC where they were mid pack to running just inside the Top 10 in Hypercar and being able to fight for a podium towards the end of the year.

If I've understood it correctly, LMH was not allowed into IMSA for the first two years of LMDh, as it was felt that LMH would have had an "unfair" advantage as they already had a couple of years' experience with the formula compared to the then new LMDh. (Fair enough really, I guess). That time has now passed, so let's see what we can get from this year forward. I've also read that some LMH teams would not be interested in doing the short races in IMSA, but would be very interested in such as Daytona, Sebring and possibly Atlanta. (So would probably do the big races only on a non-points basis. Don't know for sure if that's fact).
