Forsaken Engine - Colorless Forsaken Monument Ramp in Historic - Mtg Arena Deck Tech and Game Play

We are heading back to the land of colorless. We have some new toys to play with thanks to Zendikar Rising. Let's see if Forsaken Monument camp ramp us into Ugin and Ulamog quickly, and then see if Lithoform Engine will let us do crazy things with it!

Maybe dimir rogue? In the standard they are strong, but in the historic they will be even stronger.

this deck is very nice.. if you don't want to craft all the lands, there is solid option to put some plains in and mix some of your sweepers there, like realm-cloaked giant, wrath of god and shatter the sky - and few ELC not that shabby in there either. might make the ramp a bit slower, but can take you there. mana stones, ugins, forsaken monuments and karns are must, perhaps everyone should have few ulamogs too for any type of ramp decks. sideboard and additional artifacts could be something else too to pick from your own artifact combos. using chromatic black is not bad either, if you happen to have plenty of black. usually green is solid for tron decks, but then you kind of go away from the monument. that would become totally different deck to work the best way.

I've been having great success with this deck, but by adding white mana just for boardwipes. Colorless White Control is better than it has any right to be.

I've been doing the same except I added blue for counterspells instead. Thirst for Knowledge is an insanely good card if you have a lot of artifacts and Thassa's Intervention uses the extra mana very well, I just cast one for x=14 grabbing Ugin and Ulamog lol

@@oldirtysean00 I'm plaing some deserts and Mirrodin's Core which both can tap for colorless and blue, also I run 4x Chomatic Sphere which cantrips and filters mana

Oh my gosh game 2 is insane. I love seeing the historic colorless manabase, it's just sooooo cool to see these really good utility lands be super good mainlands in these decks. I've been wanting a colorless engine/monument deck for even modern or standard, and this is a colorless engine/monument deck that even has helm of the host and it's not that bad! This is wonderful! another very nice deck! loving these artifact builds especilaly this one. heck ive even spent a few wildcards to make my own similar version (only main difference being that its got guardian idol as another accelerator and i modified the manabase to accomodate tezzy (as in putting in the beacons, mirrodins core and the deserts)

Awesome deck! I'm uncertain about Lithoform Engine in this list, as copying a mind stone isn't an amazing play, since by the time you have that much mana you just want to get to your payoff cards like Ugin. You can do pretty gross stuff like copying an Ulamog to exile 4 permanents, but by that point you will have so much mana and probably a few engines going, that it ends up being unnecessary. I'd probably replace it with a couple of Platinum Angels, to stop those pesky elves and goblins dead in their tracks. Anyways, thanks for the great content. You make amazing jank and pilot them splendidly. This is becoming one of my favorite magic youtube channels.

100% agree. I love that he makes tons of fun and janky decks that are also playable and interesting to watch and aren't always just the top meta decks that people play. He's fast becoming my favorite creators over others.

Yep, I think the Lithoform Engine here is just a "win more" card. By the time you successfully summon Ulamog or Ugin, the game is pretty much finished. I think it can be replaced by something with more overall utility, like a couple of Spare Supplies or Sleeper Darts, just to add a little more of drawing mechanics. Of course Lithoform has the potential of being a much stronger card than those two commons, but I think most of the times you won't get the most out of Lithoform, specially in these times where ramp is everywhere and most of the games are decided by turn 4-5.

bro you *NEED* Buried Ruin in this list, it's so fucking good. Everyone is running Abrades and other artifact destruction to fight Grafdigger's Cage but Buried Ruin puts your destroyed Monuments right back in your hand, for just 2 mana. It's insanely good

Lol, literally just ran into something like this on the ladder, but it was playing plains (probably for Tempered steel, maybe cascet, didn't see any white cards though). I was playing a mono green ramp deck, so the game ended pretty abruptly when I resolved a t3 Karn... Btw, If you really want to do janky broken things, add some breeding pools and prisms to this deck and play Kinnan. Primarily because he doubles the mana you make with mind stones, but also because you can use him to loop hrough your deck and find Ulamog. You could also add Emry and Golos, allowing you to play Mox amber and make it consistently generate mana. Finally, Jegantha is just a free companion for your deck, no reason not to use it. Edit: I know the game is probably over if you resolve a t4 Ulamog, but you should have really targeted his lands. There is always a chance they run Ixalan's binding, and there is no way they can use 3 mana to stack enough auras on their creatures to trample over a 12/12. Alseid also does nothing vs your deck. Edit2: Right, you don't add normal lands if you want to play coloured spells with the monument, you play deserts. That's what the guy I played against did. Deserts tap for colorless so the mana gets doubled, but you can ping yourself if you want to splash some coloured spells. You also get extra value with Karn for Crucible and using their abilities. The colorless desert is amazing in bo1 because everyone seems to be running a graveyard deck.

They probably have boardwipes. I used to play decks like this one a lot and i usually play mono white for just the boardwipes(wrath of god and shatter), it makes the deck much better. But with forsaken monument it would probably feel a bit weird to play white lands, but its still good idea.

If you throw in that one colorless land that can tap for any color, you can throw in some jank equip/artifacts in your Karn board. Parthelion II would be hilarious, Embercleave is never bad on a 12/12 Ulamog, etc

Guardian Idol is also pretty great when it gets buffed by Monument. Can attack as a 4/4 and dodges sorcery speed removal
