For The Corps With all this pandemic crap hopefully I leave. I leave outta NJ. I do have a question. From a scale of 1-10 how difficult is it to graduate guide?!?! I’m trying to graduate guide.
@ForTheCorps4 жыл бұрын
@@davidmejia954 It is hard to maintain guide throughout basic. But, not impossible. You need to show leadership from the get go and when the time comes grab that Guidon and don't EVER let anyone take it from you.. Only the Senior Drill Instructor in certain cases.. In some cases, the Green Belt DI's will try and take it from you and other recruits as well. As the guide you need to be setting the example, give others something to look forward too. If someone messes up, both the guide and their squad leader are right there with that other recruit paying for the mistake. Get ready to be on the quarter deck alottttt. I was a squad leader a few separate times during boot camp, never stuck.. But, when it came time for graduation, they meritoriously promoted 3 people from the platoon. The guide, one of the squad leaders and myself. One of my best friends from the Marine Corps graduated basic a few months after me. He graduated as the Honor Guide and was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal. He is still in. Currently an EOD Tech on recruiting duty in Pennsylvania. He'll be a Gunnery Sergeant within a year. Hard work pays off in the Marine Corps.

None of the other recruiters did that and now that I'm growing up I'm understanding what I need to do and why. Over the last few years it’s been back in full force and I finally feel like it’s do or die, like I want it and if I don’t I’m gonna regret it. Almost signed up for ARNG last month but i’ve got a significant family event in march I can’t miss, so i’ve set that as my preparedness deadline, I want to do as much as I can to prepare before then and then after that event I’m sending it (unless God pulls me in a different direction). I’m 23, turning 24 in August. I wanted to join straight out of high school, but I couldn’t decide on what I wanted to do in life and long story short, my life is a depressing nightmare. To put it bluntly. If I told you even a quarter of what has happened to me, you’d be shocked. I wanted to join the Marines originally because my uncle was a marine in Vietnam, he was a machine gunner (M60) in the infantry, he did 3 tours. Unfortunately he passed away when I was 12 from Agent Orange effects, so I did not get to know him as much as I wanted to. I am still interested in joining, and it runs through my head every day, and I’ve been getting in good shape, but I have some health issues that I’m afraid MEPS will fail me for after boot camp. Not to mention, I’m trying to figure out what to do with my mom because she is broke at the age she should be retiring at, and if I leave, she might be out on the street.

I'm 29. Last year I changed career paths and went back to college for IT. I just got a call from a recruiter today, so I'm looking into everything now. It's an option that's always been in the back of my mind, but the fact that I can get into infosec and state-sponsored hacking through the military (even the reserves) is making it look way more appealing to me. Especially considering i can get all of the certifications i'm studying for (sec+, ccna, ccnp, ceh, oscp) through the marines. If i knew that was an option, i would have signed up in 2010. My father was a paratrooper in the army in Viet Nam, my grandfather was a marine in WWII, my uncle is an army ranger. I grew up with a basic understanding of what I'm in for. I'm here because I'm trying to get a feel for it and see if it's right for me.

The first night you’ll realize that recruiters were being nice but in reality the marine corps hates you. And you may tear up the first time you get a chance to lay on your bunk. And then you’ll ask yourself if you can make it through this. But then if you’re in shape you just have to realize that the worst thing they can do to you is scream at you. And you’ll do just fine. It’s the beginning of a new life. Put all your heart into it. Simple but you’ll come up on top.

I'm 17, I just graduated high school on the 5th on June and now I'm going to marine boot camp on July 12th. I wanted to join the marines because I feel like military would help me develop as a person since I didn't grow up with my parents or siblings so I never had a normal childhood. I don't live in the richest place so the benefits it will give me will help me a lot. Also a few friends I made are in the marines so I jumped on the train and can't wait for this experience.

Little Late. I’m 21 and am in the middle of the process of trying to join. The marines weren’t my first option, but I now believe they’re the better choice (for me anyways.) As for why I wanna join, a lot of the reasons are very personal... but I strongly believe they’re more than worth going through 13 extremely intense weeks and a minimum of 4 years of service.

I'm 17 graduated high school early in December of 2022 and my mom sat me down at the table to talk about my future and told me I need to get a job and go to college, go to trade school or I have to join the military. I thought military because that's what I since a little kid and the only thing that has ever stopped me was my girlfriend at the time but then I cut her out my life to pursue my dream. I first thought about the navy to become a navy SEAL but I also felt fear to take the risk of not being selected and then being sent on the boat given a job I don't wanna do and I scored too low on my asvab to become a SEAL. Since I scored low on my asvab and couldn't become a SEAL like I had wanted, they were giving me Artillery Ordinance. I did not want AO because i wanted to be fighting in combat. In the back of my head going through the process of enlisting to the navy I first wanted to be going to the marines but decided navy because of the SEALS and didn't do much research for the marines and did not know about MARSOC. Fortunately enough even though may sound weird saying fortunately, I failed my drug test and got disqualified from the navy and told to come back in 90 days to enlist again and redo my drug test. I decided that since I got disqualified I have the chance to switch branches to the marines like I wanted initially and felt a relief once I got disqualified because back of my head the whole time I was thinking I should have joined marines. I'm going to the recruiter office and meps this month to enlist into the marines. I cant wait to pursue my life as a marine and it feels like ever since I wanted this I have a purpose. i love this country, i am blessed to live in the US. I want to be fighting for this country and I have so much pride for the military and veterans and the US.
