Thanks for consistently excellent material. Well... for the last ride it was "did you see the pre ride check video" - followed by "Yeah" - then silence - then "I did absolutely none of that before coming here", and a round of "yeah, me neither". I cannot stress how much this guy makes me laugh with his 'epitaph editing pieces' in this essential informational video. I have taught driving professionally, and one of the very best ways to get people to not only digest important info but to retain said important info, is with the use of humour. we tend to remember jokes as they gave us a laugh, they gave us pleasure. its an age old method for implanting information. So... keep making those of us who actually have a sense of humour, remember what you've said. e.g. 1: 25. Once again buddy, keep up the good work, RF9 (subscribed)

Another True Story from the old guy archives : 1965, small prairie town, southwest US. Several of us 14-15 yr old's were riding the main drag in town, when approaching a green light, it changed to yellow. The car in front of us slammed on it's brakes and four of us stopped under our own power. Number five was stopped by the bumper and tail fin of a '59 Cadillac. Yep, impaled him just below the ribcage. If your going to impale yourself on the tail fin of a '59 Cadillac, it's best if you choose the proper location. We happened to be in an intersection between the fire station and local hospital. We were busy trying to disimpale (unimpale, depale?) our friend when a few guys from the fire station came running over. They stopped us, then proceeded to look the situation over. They decided we were on the right track and grabbing upper and lower body, removed him from the tail fin. The little blue haired driver threw up, then fainted. Another gurney appeared and both patients were wheeled across the street for treatment. Both survived. Moral to story : Not only be aware of sharp pointy things on your bike, also be aware of sharp pointy things that stop you when exiting the bike.

I would say handle bar cell phone holders should be on there. I was in a accident (30mph) and it hit me right in the stomach. Had a textile jacket on and still gave me a sever contusion.
@ItsBeenDanBefore6 жыл бұрын
However, you could also argue that a phone in your jacket pocket could also pose a risk, because, assuming you fly chest first onto tarmac, the phone would be the first point of contact. This would provide a central point for which the force of the impact to pass through. This would mean just a series of bruised ribs could turn into a fractured rib that could pierce a lung.
@Stoney3K6 жыл бұрын
You could arguably say the same for tank bags. When you crash and you hit your bars chest-first, you're gonna catch the bag on the way there.

Thanks, Ryan. Eye opening, as always! Just to put my dime in the jukebox: my bike was new, and I was on it, stopped at a sign while waiting for the road to clear. A guy in the car rear-ended me, I got ejected and my shoulder hurt, of course, but also my left shin and my achilles heel right under the calf. What happened? I had been badly hit by the gear selector on the left and, on the right, by the passenger footpeg socket (quite square, this one!). Had I not my motorcycle boots on (those which protect up to mid-calf), I would have torn my skin and what else? I do agree with you, Ryan: the bike is already quite threatening in itself, no need to bolt on additional posts, daggers and other blades... By the way, I'm stunned by your videos. I have been riding motorcycles for 20 years and have accumulated 100,000 miles on various machines, and at every video of yours I learn a lot and it increases my pleasure to ride. Thank you. Sincerely,

I'm a newbie to this channel, and I'm surprised by the amount of easter eggs in f9's videos.

I don’t understand people who dislikes such an informative video. Maybe they live on negativity or all what they are good at is disliking and criticizing

I love riding next to big rigs and HD pickups with spike covers over their lug nuts. It's quite the thrill being that close to a wide-open Cuisinart. 😒

Seen those quite often on big rigs lately. They're damn scary when next to one on the highway.

The spikes on the wheels of big rigs are chrome covered plastic.

Yep. They break if you look at them wrong.

The idea of riding with a "fanny" pack full of tools just sounds horrific! I won't even ride with any keys in my pockets... Keys, phone, wallet, they all go into a nice little bag under the seat.

For what it's worth, if anything at all, a friend of mine's ass was literally saved by a wallet in his back pocket.

A long time ago, a good friend of mine was riding at high speed his Bonneville that had high handlebars (we called these ''Brandos'' in those days) when he was cut by an uncoming car that turned left. He hit the car and was thrown in the air. One of the high handles hit him in the abdomen and puncture his liver. He survived (because he was young and very strong) but never rode a motorcycle again. I immediately got rid of my high handlebars and re-installed the original ones on my bike. I had never thought about that type of risk then. Ride safe.🏍🏍🏍
