This video ends with a nice customizing and encouragement to customize your own. Super. 3/4 of Harley owners customize to personalize. Thanks. However, video starts out with so much criticism I thought it was going to be just another Harley-bashing. Then he surprised me by recommending customizing to change/correct styling the factory gave. Hooray. Harleys are easy to customize, there are tons of parts and accessories and the construction of the bike makes it easy to customize.

Hey give em a break man, they got stuff like the Pan America which is awesome, the Custom 1250 which is probably going to dominate its niche of the market and somehow are actually managing to give them a reasonable MSRP (the Custom 1250 can only be guessed at the moment, but it's pretty easy to do after seeing the Pan America's pricing). Most people I find talking smack about modern Harley don't have any intention to ever buy a Harley regardless as to what they do. That said I just bought a softail Low Rider S and let me tell you, I've owned a lot of bikes from a lot of brands (honda shadow, kawi vulcan 900, v-rod, gen 2 yamaha vmax etc) and it's a damn fine machine. @DanteYewToob3 жыл бұрын
He could always do what I do: I typically use my phone as a speedo... Recently I just decided to buy a phone for my bike.. lol It's cheaper than a GPS unit, has "drive mode" which is a GPS map, with a large speedo on it and music controls as well. It was a 50$ prepaid deal, and in an emergency I can use it to call for help. I just bring it in at night to charge or whatever, it fits in a nice low profile mount and looks like it belongs there... most people assume it's a stock dash like an expensive BMW or KTM or something. There is always a way to make style and function work together, you just gotta get creative. Sometimes when I ride on busy roads or short stretches of the confusing highway, I mount my gopro to my tail and connect to my dash phone. Instant rear view camera, built in wide angle and it was free because I had everything already and I typically have my gopro in my bag anyway. I'd highly advocate for running a cheap or older "drawer phone" as a bike dash. You can do SO MUCH with it. It's 100x better than a com device because you can make standard calls and voice texts, etc. You can have your own music and audio books/podcasts, you have GPS, and emergency apps all available in one device, and you can easily just take it off and use it as a phone or watch videos or google something. You can find 100 different mounting options including super low profile steering stem mounts like mine, millions of cases for the phone to fit your style or make it waterproof, and you can set a cool custom screensaver to add style points to the bike when it's parked. Sorry about the rant, I just think it's an awesome idea more people should use. Not to mention you can use it as a dash cam, rear view, or directly stream your location and use standard free find-my-phone apps for security stuff. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you want to do what Ryan did and hide your original speedo or remove it altogether.

I bought a new Ninja 650 in '09, loved everthing about except the fuel gauge/no petcock deal and the seat. I lucked out. Corbin Saddlery is only about 25 minutes away and they were looking to borrow the new 650 to create a new seat. I doubly lucked out as they made it in black with grey snakeskin inserts, which PERFECTLY suits my taste. It was a Gunfighter + Lady, my passengers enjoyed the extra padding and backrest. My moto also got to be the studio model for their web pics so it's immortalized on the net. Bonus! That saddle made all day jaunts painless, plus not slipping about made me look like a better rider than I was.

My first bike was a $400 Buell Blast in boxes. Spent a month assembling it like a jigsaw puzzle and only made two mistakes despite not using instructions/manuals. $400 can buy a bike, but you're going to have to do some work on it before it can be ridden.

Nice job on the bike, not to my taste, but that’s the point! It still looks good, and the underlying point - that you don’t have to change a lot to make a big change and that the bike should please you, are both dead on and beautifully illustrated. Been riding Harleys for decades, and individuality on your bike whether it’s a Honda (my non-Harley fave), Ducati, BWM, etc…doesn’t matter. It’s about us, the riders. Keep cranking out the great videos!

Wow! That’s a really nice transformation! Except… I tried bent bars and straight bars and was astonished: bent bars actually hold your wrist in a relaxed natural position. Stretch out your arm and pay attention to your hand-the most relaxed position is palm down, thumb up and about 45° inwards. It’s more ‘no effort’ than palm down horizontally. Manufacturers and customers knew what was good back in a day. Nowadays both sides are only obsessed with look.

Your mods are all cosmetic. I prefer Heli-Bars because they can be adjusted for each hand. I also want floorboards because my only transport is my motorcycle and I ride lots of miles. The wide, black curvy seat I’d keep for the same reason. I want function. I’m 82 and none of my joints have the same range of motion and smoothness that they used to.

Hi Ryan. as a long time Harley rider (I am 61) all I can say about your mods is ........I HIGHLY APPROVE!!! I might suggest for you a set of Progressive 418 adjustable rear shocks an inch longer for better handling and I would think about replacing the spoke rimes with cast ones. There more stable and handle better with less maintenance needed. Oh, and if your ever in the Portland area, give me a ring and I will show you some great roads.
