health and safety is v different in Italy, went carting there recently. only a helmet (without visor) as gear, the 'safety briefing' was two sentences while i was already sat in the cart (in italian, even though i understand, not everyone would, and they didnt care). :D nothing like the UK were you have to watch a 5 min video and then be in full overalls and gloves.

Awesome work! For the last two years i have driven out to Italy and stay about 10 mins from the circuit and do a few days with the local TD guys. If anyone knows the circuit and lap times then they should know a sub 2:10 is good at Miugello. A 2:03 is an incredibly fast and Sub 2 mins you puts you probably in very competitive position in Super stock. Chris's circuit craft has to be highly commended for than the bike build i feel :) I'd be happy with a consistent sub 2:10! Thanks for the video, i will be using this as a reference!

The big takeaway for 90% of trackday riders should be that you can make a huge improvement to your suspension by just "ballparking" it, which is basically what the pros did for that first session. Dave Moss has a series of videos about it, and how you can ballpark your own suspension settings and learn what they all do, before paying professionals like him for their time, so you get more out of their time.

What I do is set front fork 35mm sag and rear shock 30mm sag as a baseline using preload adjuster I add a zip tie to fork tube to see weather I’m using all of the travel during braking and then adjust the rebound and compression to mid point then I make adjustment from there as the day progress most of the time after 3 session I have it dialed to where I’m comfortable mostly I run very similar rebound and compression to stock just preload to weight and sag

Interesting that static sag measurements were taken with your feet on the ground - we were taught that static measurements have to be done with feet on footpegs so that the riders full weight is on the suspension. How did they compensate for the weight transfer through your feet?
@stevewayne1359 Жыл бұрын
@@Chambers36TheEnter I suppose because it is just the "static" measurements - even though they are inaccurate because of less weight being on the bike (due to feet on ground and not wearing full gear) that is taken care of after the first session out on the bike - but still, it is puzzling that Ohlins guys do the static measurements the way we were taught NOT to do it
@drdesmo8489 Жыл бұрын
Ohlins techs should have done it with gear on and feet on peg. For the 1st session. Very surprised to see how they didn’t much care about the specifics, of a initial basic setup. Accuracy at the start is key. Maybe they know Chris is not worth the effort 😝

The engine light happened to me on a track day, really frustrating. Yamaha dealer said it detected I'd leaned the bike too low. So then it locks the modes (like you mentioned). Then you got to take it to a dealer and pay to reset the errors. Pathetic.

I absolutely love seeing so much of the engine in your "click-bait" picture. Thats how I want my Superbike (1996 cbr600f3-t) to look. After Ive fitted the much higher VFR750 handlebars. ( im a little older now, so my wrists could snap under heavy braking. LOL, imagine that🤪. Oh yeah, P.S. i havnt watched the video yet. Im saving it for the weekend. I like to have a little binge, then a ride out. Reminds me of the early eighties as a 22 year old, sitting on the floor next to me Dads house, with the rocker covers off on me 1970 Honda 750, adjusting the screw and locknut tappets. Trying to get it faster!! Great days. Sundays spent going around the outside of my mates on their X7's, RD250's, LC250, CB250rs. That old bus, that old 750. It had so much torque, and such a wide engine, I could out-corner ANYTHING. But at 101mph it had a VICIOUS tankslapper. But just grip it and rode through it to 120-125. No problems. Cos no- one is passing you in the bends.

I had my bike flashed, and had a good talk to the tuner. He said that most road bikes are set up quite lean to help keep emissions low. It does nothing for ridabillity, as I found out on track, as the throttle was “snatchy” on initial opening. Aftermarket filters and exhaust systems only compound the issue.
