Four Year Review | TAG Heuer Aquaracer | Worth It?

The real test of a watch is time. Not only in the sense of accuracy but also how it performs over time. I have tested my TAG Heuer Aquaracer for 48 months and here is the verdict after years of use and abuse.

I have always been a Tag Heuer fan; my first luxury watch 30 years ago was a Tag Heuer and I have 4 of them now. I recently purchased the Aquaracer in blue with the blue ceramic bezel and love it. I know Tag gets mocked by some others, but I think they’re great looking watches. I see Tag has a new GMT Batman bezel in the Aquaracer version, but I have the GMT in the Formula One version. Maybe when the world is back to normal I’ll end up with 5 Tags. Great review, keep up the great work.

I know the model. It's a great looking watch; the blue stitching adds something to it that makes it. I actually had it on my list but kept going back to the blue dial since my GMT has a black dial. Good luck with it.

Edward Kollar : I agree completely ... I have been a Heuer fan since the 60s and own a TAG Heuer 2000 and a Heuer Autavia chronograph (amongst various Seiko, Hamilton and Tudor watches). I love them both and would like to add a GMT as well. I don’t care what others say... they are fantastic watches.

Very enjoyable review! I too have this watch which I bought in downtown Chicago for slightly over $1k. It came on the rubber strap which I thought would be comfortable and it is except that it is hot and my wrist is always sweating making my wrist feel clammy. I use the rubber in winter and put it on a various colored seatbelt natos during the summer. Very accurate and consistent runner.

Great review. Admittedly i had a negative idea of the Tag Heuer brand, until i tried one on. Bought an Aquaracer calibre 5 43, the next day. Very solid, well built watch.

I bought mine almost 15 years ago. Still one of my favourites. If you live near a MacArthur Glenn discount outlet shopping centre in Europe, some have authorised TAG stores. I bough mine at half RRP...from an authorised dealer.

Have an older Aquaracer with the aluminum insert bezel. Purchased early 2010's at a discount around 1600 usd. Wore it nonstop for around 9 years, until I started rotating it with other watches. Been diving, spearfishing, hiking with it. Serviced it once after 5 years of ownership, the manual winder became stiff, paid around 180 usd service fee. Fantastic watch, mine looks in great condition, only scratches at the clasp, and some very faint scratches on the polished sides of the case.

Great review! Enjoy watching your content. I’m planning to buy a dive watch this year and still can’t choose. Wanted Longines Hydroconquest but the more I looked at it in the shop, the faster I got bored. Perhaps going to get this Aquaracer from your video. Do you suggest buying a new one or a pre-owned? And what online shop is the best in terms of a price? I would like to hear your opinion. In here we have it for around 3k euros which is a robbery.

Hi Rain. Thanks! Pre-owned Aquaracer is a great option. You should be able to find a nice example at $1500-1800. $3000 is crazy. There’s a lot on Chrono24. Happy hunting.

I enjoy your videos. Great insight and content. I too have the same white Aquaracer, bought it September of 2016 and love it. Mine is on the steel bracelet and that is the only negative aspect for me. I find the clasp has some sharp edges.. I really like the strap on yours. Is there a reference number part number on it? I want to make sure that it fits the case like yours. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.

Looking it up the clasp is separate... is there a reference number on it as well. When I look up the clasp that is recommended it says it’s 18mm but the lug width is 20mm..... is that because the 18mm is what it tapers down to. Just want to make sure I get the right clasp for it. Thanks again.

Just got the same strap and depolyant clasp.... it wears much better. The bracelet was nice but as I said, for me it had some sharp edges on the ends of the clasp that bothered me. I’m very very pleased. Thanks again !!

Looks like it has low miles on it for being a four year old watch. Mine is five years old and looks like I wear it everyday but then again I do. Haven’t had one issue with it. Runs and keeps great time.
