People with Diabetes are constantly being barraged with bad nutrition advice. Here's a great example of a very unhelpful article from one of the largest news websites in the world. If you follow this advice you will be hungry and have to snack all the time, while also increasing the cost of your groceries. Beware of article like this from any news source...

That would be SO GREAT! I did see a conservative journalist, Dave Rubin, interview Dr. Paul Salidino on the carnivore diet (Dave's staff have been pushing him to clean up his diet). Don't agree with his stance that adding fruit and honey "helps" in any way, but a lot more of the facts were correct than not. Better than THIS POC article from Fox.

My family is the same. My sister has a friend who just found out she had cancer. Her friend had a horribly painful operation to cut out the tumor and a bunch of her lymphnodes. I told my sister I would send her a video about nutrition and cancer to share with her friend. My sister sneared at me and said she wasn't going to send her friend any video. She said her friend wasn't going to change the way she eats, she has been fat her whole life, has tried every diet out there, and even had bariactric surgery and the weight just came back. She has resigned herself to being fat and just wants to enjoy her life. I asked if her friend was enjoying her life now. She just rolled her eyes and changed the subject.

Later that year I found keto on the YT. By 2018 I was no longer diabetic. I have yo-yo'd between diabetes and remission for the past 4 years. Addiction is tough. In January 2024 I went Canivore. As of June 2024, my diabetes is in remission, and I am a carnivore for life. A1C is now 5.6. There is so much information available. When she looked at my 3 week food diary she told me I wasn't eating enough carbs; I was not on any medication. She then went on to tell me how much of various foods I could eat including oats for breakfast (which really surprised me), and of course to eat the rainbow of fruits and veggies. I am a "Certified Dietician" and I can tell you that my certification is not worth the paper its printed on. Its based more on theology and mythology than on actual science. I cured my own T2 diabetes in 4 weeks by going on a totally animal based ketogenic diet and by taking berberine and various amino acids and supplements. Completely flatlined my blood suger and restored my insulin sensitivity as tested with a CGM. A bolus of carbs would spike my blood suger and then it would drop back down and flatline again in a few hours. Totally cured myself in just 3 or 4 weeks. If I had followed the standard American Diabetes Association diet I would have never put my diabetes into remission.
@trail.blazer
@trail.blazer 3 ай бұрын
Sounds like you are doing well but please consider that continually flat lining your glucose is not ideal. An occasional bump (rather than a spike) that causes a corresponding insulin bump (rather than a spike) is good. Insulin does some important things in moderation. If you are eating a reasonable amount of protein in one meal, you might be getting those bumps.
@Keithzzzzt
@Keithzzzzt 3 ай бұрын
@@trail.blazer well..thanks for the comment , Im sure it was well meant ....but gonna agree to respectfully disagree on the flatlining glucose idea. Why wouldnt you want to flatline it? Its your bodies baseline state? My body makes all the carbs it need"s ...in the proper amount...at all times...and keeps my blood suger absolutely stable....without any significant exogenous carb intake. As shown by my CGM. If you have T2 diabetes then flatlining your glucose is pretty much essential. How else can you restore normal insulin sensitivity? Certainly not by eating more glucose . I would even say that its probably ideal for the majority of people. Its a proper human diet as Dr Berry is fond of saying. You still get an insulin spike from protien but it is less pronounced and less dangerous than from excess carbs. Plus leucine ..from meat...drives muscle growth in the absence of insulin. You basically avoid hyperinsulinimia. If my glucose is at an " ideal" range for my body then why would I ever need to spike it? My brain is happy, my blood cells are happy and I am not getting hypoglycemic or causing cortisol or adrenaline spikes that happen when the brain senses low glucose..from hypoglycemia...from an insulin surge. Considering that I cured my T2 Diabetes 2 years ago and have been eating ketovore ever since I think I'm doing fine without needing an insulin spike from carbs. I also lost 20 kilos or 45 pounds and packed on muscle. Again...Not sure why I would need to increase carbs but thanks for your concern. My insulin response seems to be working just fine. The need for exogenous carbs is absolutely ZERO unless you have a genetic condition or liver disorder that somehow impairs gluconeogenesis. That can happen but its very rare. More common is when the liver gets metabolically deranged and fatty and starts making TOO much glucose because it cant get glucose from the blood stream....clogging it up even more...becoming fatter and more insulin resistant in a downward spiral of bad health that drives diabetes, CVD, cancer and mental health problems. There is nothing inherently good about spiking blood glucose for an insulin response. In fact...all studies point to the benefit of having stable blood glucose levels , including those on Centenarians. Their longevity is directly corelated to stable blood suger. Go figure . And other studies have shown that if you are producing ketones your blood suger can be lowered by insulin injections that would normally crash blood suger and make a person pass out....but in ketosis the brain keeps on ticking as if it didnt have a care in the world....because it doesnt.
@trail.blazer
@trail.blazer 3 ай бұрын
@@Keithzzzzt Your answer is too long so I only read the first sentence. Bumping (not spiking) your insulin helps with things like electrolyte balance, increases amino acid update, improves protein synthesis in muscles, and is therefore anabolic. Being in ketosis 24/7 should not be your goal. You can bump your insulin, come out of ketosis for a short period, then go back in to ketosis. Before you say that people on for example Lion diet don't bump their glucose/insulin, they probably do. A large intake of protein (eg meat) in a single meal will bump your insulin and briefly take you out of ketosis. Being in full 24/7 ketosis for months/years is probably not a good idea. Won't kill you but might have side effects. Edit to add: No carbs are required. I'm not suggesting you eat carbs.
@Keithzzzzt
@Keithzzzzt 3 ай бұрын
@@trail.blazer ok. But nobody is in full ketosis all the time. Just please stop it. Its impossible. Its simply not how the body works. It will regulate itself according to its needs and the endocrine triggers from food. Trying to differentiate between a bump and a spike is being kind of rediculous. No blood suger " bumps" are actually EVER needed. The body tries REALLY hard to stop this from happening. FOR A REASON. Protien is isulinogemic too. As you aleady stated. The body actually wants to be in a homestatic state of equilibrium. Low...stable blood suger. On who"s metric are you basing this opinion? Yours? Ok...an N of 1...but Some people are just carb intolerant and need to drastically drop their carbs. We see this in the Virtra health studues and in other studies which shows a great variation in insulin response to carbs. Others can tolerate more. There are too many variables at play. Age, muscle mass and activity level being some of those factors. Genetics too. Not sure what the whole point of your comments were but you cant argue against my health success....can you? And why would you? I was a type 2 diabetic and you want me to eat carbs? Im puzzled. For some reason you felt compelled to comment on my post...basically saying..." wait a minute"...It may hsve been well meaning ....yet all my metrics...including a remission of T2 diabetes , inflammation, high blood pressure, fatty liver , and obesity/ metabolic syndrome , hba1c have been corrected? I guess I must be doing sonething wrong. Sorry...calling bull on your comment. I think Dr Berry would back me up on this one. He is pretty much on the record for saying carbs are non essential. Mother nature apparently already sorted it out. But ya gotta get fat adapted to reap the benefits. As we were designed. ( no carbs required)

When my husband was first diagnosed with type two diabetes, the dietician showed us a shelf in her office of all the foods that he could eat. Not once did she mention meat, fish, chicken or eggs. Every box on the shelf was processed food, most of them containing artificial sweeteners, flour, oats, and other crap. My husband looked at me as I stared in absolute shock at the shelf and then back at the dietitian. He looked at her and said, "I think my wife will handle the food as she doesn't buy low fat, no fat, and processed junk like that. Thank you very much for your time." He then held me by the hand and walked me out of that office before I laced in. This was 12 years ago. If my husband had've walked out of that office, doing exactly what she said, he would've been dead in two years. I feel so strongly that her money for her education was well wasted. It's sad people don't realize this. If something says low-fat or no-fat on the container ...run. If the container says no sugar added, check out the label and see what sweeteners are in it. We know pilots are affected neurologically by artificial sweeteners and some have actually passed out on a plane by eating aspartame and all the bad artificial sugars. Why would we do that to ourselves or our children? Support Dr. Berry and his crew for their mission on diabetes. I am grateful you are alive, Sir, and I am encouraged by your message and I will support your mission to bring awareness.

I did not want to die so young. I jumped down the well of light. I try to explain to prescription doctors how diabetes works, 1 and 2(being opposite but improved by very low carb to no carb). Of course, I went about it too enthusiastically. I was dismissed, sneered at, shouted at, I am thankful for their ignorance and lack of respect, I will NEVER pay a doctor to not help me again, maybe if I break a bone?. I have been educated by doctors I can respect, I have learned more about how our body's work from doctors I will never meet, and I have heard an apology from Professor Tim Noakes, a South African doctor who had the guts to say he was sorry for all the ignorant harm he did, he had to fight for his reputation, through the South African courts because he came out on the side of low carb, even for weaned babies. Most of this stuff used to be common sense, but many doctors no longer educate their patients about diabetes and how to reduce it. I have a family member who is pre-diabetic and the a1c is almost to the diabetic range. I asked her if her doctor has instructed her on how to eat: cut carbs to below 50g per day, avoid sugar, eat more meat and whole animal foods. She said, no, her doctor hasn't told her that and just said he is going to put her on a diabetes pill next year if her a1c is still that high. This should be considered criminal negligence.

@@walkingman9171 The only way to get the whole story is to purposely watch news from across the entire spectrum. Yes, MSNBC to Fox to CNN to ABC to NewsNation. Watch them all, realizing that for some of the time you will be seeing things you (strongly) disagree with. Force yourself to watch anyway and really listen. Do this everyday, do not ever accept news only from one side. Because you are smarter than that. And you realize that, just as when you are driving, you need to see the whole road, not just the side of the road you're driving on. If you have only 5 minutes to catch up on the news, watch Fox for 2.5 minutes and CNN for 2.5 minutes. I promise there are things both Fox and CNN are keeping from you, and the only way to find those things is to watch the other guys.

Fox is making big bucks from their commercials. Lots of food/drinks commercials and lots of pharmacy commercials.

They get a lot of things wrong. And most every outlet gets THIS advice wrong! Wow, I had been doing great on keto then tried to add Greek yogurt to boost protein. And berries for polyphenols. And nuts for selenium, etc. before I knew it, my A1C went from 5.3 back to 5.7 again. These all spike me and definitely got me off track. I have to ditch these things. At least they don’t recommend going vegan or eating bugs 🐛
