Neighbors say the Atlanta police have been called repeatedly since the man moved in this summer. Even after 911 callers say he pulled a gun, he's still roaming this corner of Kirkwood with his knives out.

I mean, he does seem to have mental issues. I feel like when people like this get arrested for aggravated assault, etc., a better job of mental evaluations, and mandatory programs need to be set up. The issue is crime units aren’t designed for rehabilitation and only arrest and imprisonment. That’s ALWAYS been the issue.

I totally agree!! They are not doing enough for mental illness. In my state they are make it so hard for the person to get help and that's why my city has the problem it has. I absolutely HATE seeing someone in despair like this and MOST people's first thought is be cruel to them etc... they are just a drug addict! Or they will physically hurting them etc.... He could be using drugs to cope with his mental health but I can't believe that people this day and age have no compassion or care for their fellow man. Most police departments are not trained to deal with mental illness. So then until the person is evaluated they have to go in to jail while having a psychiatric episode. Which is so damaging to their psyche every time they have an episode. An episode alot of times looks like a drug reaction. So then they might get tazed. I think every time the pd gets a report like this they should have to take a mental health professional with them.
