Some good tool hacks. Dollar tree has small cutting boards same size as Caren dache one side smooth one side rough. A small tea strainer can be used like sand paper to get fine pigment from wc and colored pencils

Thank you for this! I think you told me last time about the cutting board.

I never enjoyed watercolor pencils until I stumbled on your KZbin channel. Still don’t reach for them as much as watercolor tubes and pans but I tried to use the techniques you taught to give them another chance before giving up on them

I'm glad,.the more I work with them the more it is clear you can do anything and get really comfortable with them, I hope you get to experience this!🙂

I have an older desert painting video with watercolor, not what you are describing, this could be an idea. Thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you for your tips on blending hacks! Could you please tell me which caran d’ache wc pencils should I buy? The museum aquarelle or the supracolor? Are they the same quality?
@paintingandchocolate11 ай бұрын
I think the museum aquarelle are the very best of the two and I havent tried the Supracolor. If you have the budget I'd say the Museum in a small set. The FABER Castell Albrecht Dürer also are excellent.

when you finished your mushroom color pencil deawing. At the end you would dip your flat brush into what appeared to me as water that enriched the pictures texture. What were your brushing on your pic? Yes , loved the hacks too.
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
I think you are referring to plain water activating the pigment. With watercolor pencils,.especially those of good to really good quality,.colors become much more vibrant with water.

What is the point of having watercolor pencil, its as good as tube
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
You can create details and texture that looks different than watercolor. You can also draw and color everything on dry and then activate it. It's a different process and looks but you can also make it look like watercolor or mix both styles.

Use Yupo paper = no waste ❤
@paintingandchocolate Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tip, never heard of that!
@AmandaMG6 Жыл бұрын
@@paintingandchocolate I mix on Yupo and let the watercolor dry and then paperclip to the painting and put them away. That way when I'm ready to paint again, I still have my colors mixed there. Yupo will wash completely clean again. It may stain a little but not much ☺️

I don’t think that this is the best use for expensive Caran D’Ache pencils unless you have no watercolors at home. It’s much cheaper and there is much less filler in good quality watercolors than there is in watercolor pencils. This means that the color is much more intense. Ink would even be cheaper and depending on the ink, would work pretty well. I use watercolor pencils along with regular watercolor, which I use for large areas.
@paintingandchocolate10 ай бұрын
I haven't noticed they're more intense but I agree that it can be useful to just use them for touch ups or sketches when it applies. I like to explore for more, the huge set of FC Albrecht Dürer is good for that too.
