Yes, it;s called "surfing the desire". I forgot to mention it in the video. When you feel tempted, don't fight the desire. Recognize it. Visualize it. Take deep breaths, breath it out, kill it and imagine how much your life is better without it. If you master this, you can stare at your source of temptation all day long and you will not give in. Thumbs up peoplel.

Frank, how do you psychologically deal with the added muscle mass? ("Monsters staring back"?) I've added muscle mass now almost only training for strength and it feels really weird and awkward; because it's not how I imagine myself to look. I wanted to just look skinny (used to be fat) and not "jacked" and now it looks like I lift and feels really weird because I now look like a "jock" in the mirror and don't imagine myself that way. How do you embrace the new body/self that was created? Thanks.

when i first tried cutting, i went on a 1800 calorie diet, ate raw oats with water and really tortured myself and i just ended up giving up 1 week into it. months later i did a sucsesfull cut where i basiclly ate both clean and some bad foods, but made sure i hit my protein/fats and carbs at the end of the day :)

The brain cannot negate things, so if you say "don't think about a pink elephant", there are 2 commands involved that the brain needs to process: 1. Imagine the thing that you don't want to think about, otherwise you won't know what not to think about. 2. The actual command "now don't think about what you just imagined". So step 2 cannot be reached without step 1, and since 2 also contains the command "imagine" it will lead straight back to 1 which causes the loop. If that makes any sense ;-)

Hey Frank! why don't you present to us your weekly training schedule, talk about how many days you need to rest and how many time a week you train each muscle group. That would be very very apreciated. You kinda seem to be always doing squat and deadlift every time you hit the gym.

shouldnt need that many cals at 59kgs, 300cals over maintenance is enough. otherwise youre just putting on unnecessary fat, which isnt a big deal, but i was 60kg when i started and i know its hard to get 3500 cals in a day when youre that small

i was wondering, even though this question may be the opposite of the video but here goes. So im the kind of guy that likes to eat alot, and i calculated my bmr says to be around liek 3k, but when i eat around only 2-2.5k calories i end up gaining weight and fairly fast. Should i just eat lower calories or eat as much or more and bulk to raise my bmr even more in hope of being able to eat more without getting fatter, my main goal is to mainly be stronger and look good, any advice is helpful thx

I am like you in terms of appetite. I used to be overweight/obese and have lost 50+ lbs and am at a very healthy weight (5'11 @ 163lbs). As someone who's gone through a cut I've got so much advice I can share. But I'll offer some basic advice for now, I'd recommend to lose weight first, but, that'd be more concrete if I knew your stats. Get a rough estimate of your maintenance calories and deduct 300-400 cals. I used intermittent fasting (Google it) and eventually reduced up to 1000 cals max and the progress was very rapid. Intermittent fasting was useful for me, but, its not a necessity, just keep reducing your cals and always take measurements. Message me if you have questions.

im 5'9 172 18yo i go to gym around 5 times a week, play tennis 3-5 times a week and when i was calculating i would eat 1800-2200 calories
@chiodori10 жыл бұрын
TheFatKid128 In that case, depending on how much leaner you wanted to get, I'd say 1700-1800 is a good range if you wanted to around 155lbs and if your about 12-14% bf when your there, assuming you haven't got a lot of muscle mass you could maintain that physique for 3-4 weeks and begin a slow and steady bulking plan. I'd recommend giving intermittent fasting ago based on the fast results it gave me.
@TheFatKid12810 жыл бұрын
well i wouldnt really say i dont have little muscle mass, im fairly strong for the amount i have anyways. I havent really been recording max reps for many exercises but my deadlift is a 260pr bench is 160, and squat 225 for like 6 reps
@chiodori10 жыл бұрын
TheFatKid128 its worth noting that strength is not the same as muscle mass. Your stats are very similar to where I was, almost identical. Some people can be strong with low mass l and vice versa. Obviously there is a correlation at some point. But if you do have decent mass, you can cut down to an even lower percentage, maybe 10% and not look scrawny, that's the point where I was coming from. If you have lower mass, don't go too low in bf% because you'll look scrawny, if you have higher muscle mass you can go to a lower bf% and not look scrawny so you can have a longer/better bulk where you won't look fat as quick.

Recently found this video on what to watch. This helped me understand two very important concepts within my own demeanor. 1 the more you think about the unwanted thought, the more it fuels that thought. 2.Not focusing on the thought or surrounding myself around other things, people etc, help keep my thoughts fluid from the unwanted ideation; which in turn causes it to be more diluted and less direct. Thanks Frank - Chri

Thanks Frank for your perspective and advice on cutting. Right now, I'm currently on a cut and I can relate when you say that you were hungry all the time within' your first couple of weeks trying to cut. Also, I tend to have the mindset of hating my new change in my life of eating clean but you say in your video to make your diet a part of you so you don't edgy about the new change of eating. I think your trying to say make eating clean and working out as a part of your lifestyle so you don't get bummed out about it all the time lol. Anyways Frank, thanks for your video and have a great day ;). - M
