Listened to this as a 17 year old... those lyrics still resonate now as they did then. Thank you for letting my mind burn it all down! (as an AI fixes my typo ;-)

1986 on #mymusicalroadto50 Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Warriors Of The Wasteland I was out buying Frankie’s second album “Liverpool” almost as soon as it was released. Slated by the music press, I preferred it to the bombastic ego trip which was their debut, which to be honest, was more Trevor Horn’s wet dream. Rage Hard had already been released before the album but I waited. The opener was a stunner and they had something to say. Listening to it again now I still feel the relevance of the message. The album was once going to be called “Diamond Mine to the Factory”. I think Frankie knew the success couldn’t last so took the opportunity to go for broke with these tracks on this album. “We’re Rats in a cage, Suicide...or GoGo, Rage Rage Rage...” They’d seen the other side and they weren’t afraid to tell the world about it. Good for them. And great for me.

Yes, great that the bass is front and centre, not buried down in the mix

FGTH were so far ahead of their time. Such a shame Trevor Horn fucked it all up with his greed.

a great song. But them too break the guitars in the end !!! Why ? The guitar is a holy instrument to respect. How million time better would be to offer these guitars to some fans in stead of breaking them...

Because my friend, they are pop stars of the 80's....and also scousers!....They have lead the way in a short period of time....but in saying that, so have soooo many others, from different lands, different cultures....and....stuff ( I sooo wanted to put something else here, but due to me waking up and the our worlds struggles....!

@nasos lahanas they broke their gear because the Montreux Management only allowed them to perform to a recorded gig which they felt wasn't authentic. It was their way of rebelling.
@briannettles6692 жыл бұрын
This was a lip sync stage performance! I am sure they broke up cheap stage props, not actual high-quality instruments!
@TCDL11 Жыл бұрын
@E The Who did likewise on a TOTP performance doing 5:15 back in 1973 . They rebelled against lip-syncing so in true Pete Townshend tradition smashed up their instruments except for John Entwhistle who always took great care of his bass.
@sjdpfisvrj2 жыл бұрын
That is unfortunately lip-synced. Bummer, I was looking for an actual live performance.

If you think this is "live", I'm afraid you're very, very wrong.
