Those of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s were so very lucky, we had Frankie Howerd, Morecambe and Wise, Les Dawson, Ken Dodd, Dick Emery, Benny Hill, and Warren Mitchell as Alf Garnett, all on the TV regularly back then, in new shows and repeats of old. Truly the golden age of TV comedy! And Mr Howerd was a comedic giant, we'll never have his like again! Thank God for the DVDs and for TV repeats! And thank you sir for this vid! 👏👏

Never knew he was a Normandy veteran. For that alone Frankie Howerd deserves respect regardless of whether or not you found him funny. His style of comedy was quite unusual; most of his contemporaries were gag merchants (think The Comedians) but Frankie Howerd relied on monologues. He probably influenced a lot of modern comedians. I wonder how his life would have turned out had he been accepted by RADA. Have you thought of looking for Kenneth Williams' grave?

Another genius of our time…I’ve never been a fan of the Carry On side of things tbh…but him as a comedian…brilliant to watch. He was like my mum in as much as his facial expressions…as children we could never tell if mum was serious or not…I mean in relation to telling jokes or stories!!! Frankie was the same…he could deliver the most side splitting jokes without any expression whatsoever…very funny fellow!!! Rest In Peace Frankie…your memory lives on+will continue to do so!!! Hi Paul , Thankyou for your visit to another great comedian from the UK, it was staple viewing on TV in NZ in the 50's 60's and 70's. Something dawned on me, how unique and architecturally beautiful English churches are, particularly the intricate wood carving , inside. I guess these carvings have significant meanings to the area. You could almost do a series on churches and church organs, I bet there steeped in history. Keep up the fascinating work Perth WA
