To be fair. This is only if Liliana was killed in Dragon Age Origins. If she does not become Divine and didn't die, she simply keeps being Spymaster of the Inquisition while training future successors.

I love that kind of stuff from origins where you're own actions(or inaction) have consequences Rip Redcliffe but I couldn't fight the zombies at that level on that difficulty

Also you can simply go on dragon keep and set all the most evil actions and its kinda funny at first cause everyone is singing the warden praises(except leliana) and then you realize that that just means they never had a true hero to compare them with and you start feeling sorry for them @@MrFreed0m

I don't think she's a lyrium mine monster, I think this story relies on the fact that if you kill Leliana in Origins, a spirit will take on her persona, as a spirit of Compassion did for Cole, or merely occupy her body, like a Spirit of hope resides inside of Wynne. In this case, it would probably be either a spirit of an unknown trait like Secrecy or some kind of spirit of Faith (Since she's a spiritual person in life regardless of her deceptive past).

My theory is that’s what happens with her Origins dlc, so like the Leliana we know has always been the spirit.

they droped that narrative, but there is hints of leliana being something more, her visions was not crazy, specially since she survives if you kill her. when i played i though she was tied to andraste, but then they made that into morrigan mother, and then just droped. but there is something unresolved with leliana,as in inquisition we also learn she is resistant to the blight.

This is only when Leliana died in origins, the explanation of her returning despite her death in your previous playthrough is that she came back as a lyrium ghost

Did you happen to romance her then sacrifice your character against the archdemon? If so I believe she commits suicide at the end of origins which is how I got this ending in inquisition

As I've heard it, Leliana was a favorite of someone in management, so they made up reasons to not let her be dead after she died in DA:O. One can always deep dive lore, but sometimes the answer is pretty meta. At best, if not the above explanation, it was due to DA2's rushed status, meaning they couldn't take into account all player decisions, resulting in multiple potentially dead characters not being dead at all regardless of choices made previously.

Honestly I think it's because a low number of players got her killed in DAO and also it's a hastle to make a replacement character for her in DAI since it would need a lot of lines to voice

Someone wasn't paying attention. You only get this slide if Leliana dies in DAO. If she died, she doesn't come back as a "lyrium mine monster", she comes back as a lyrium ghost, hence the disappearance after the events of DAI. If she never died in DAO, then you don't get this slide, simple.

Not only is most of this based on if Liliana was killed in DA:O, but in the full video it mentions the DLC Leliana's Song, which is a creative interpretation on her story told by her as a bard. If that's not already a shaky base, the speaker claims Leliana is hearing voices and talking heads saying "fight for those who can't" while suffering from her stab, claiming the wound should've killed her. Ignoring that the wound clearly didn't kill her, defeating the point of that comment, she doesn't hear voices at all, but instead speaks to someone through a grate, later revealed to be formerly Revered Mother Dorothea. So the first and second parts of the "theory" are based on a result that nearly no one did, a fabricated version of events, and general deception of the speaker or scriptwriter

To the extent to which it's a retcon, the mechanism they chose to do it is also what allows Cole's story to happen. Not to mention a buncha midgame Veilguard lore drops that were broadly hinted at in Trespasser]too.

There is no quest in Origins called "In Hushed Whispers". That's a main quest in Inquisition. That epilogue slide is the explanation for how Leliana is still here if she was killed in Origins during the Sacred Ashes quest. It's completely conditional. Leliana is not fake. Get your facts straight.

In light of veilguard and the new info we have now, I don't believe there are lyrium monsters, it's probably another escaped old one like anaris or even a later strong spirit, an old spirit that became corporeal by consuming lyrium then accumulated magical power over time and got killed, to stay alive it started attaching itself to people. Also, because of her faith on the maker, I believe it's someone related to the andrastian faith. Probably Andraste herself. So Leliana is for Andraste what Morrigan is for Mythal. It also gives a bit of credibility to the inquisitor being the Herald of Andraste. And would explain why she would still be alive after being killed on origins, since her death would have happened in front of the remains of andraste (where her own remains or nearly dead body would be possessed afterwards supposedly).

You never played the first games right? You just played Veilguard so you got to those “genius” conclusions completely ignoring the whole lore and everything that happened in all the previous games (Origins,Awakening,DA2,Inquisition and it’s DLCs) Even in inquisition the whole herald of andraste is completely explained

If you believe it was "completely explained", you don't know anything, a complete moron. If anything it has been disproven as false many times in many games, so nobody knows the real version.

It's like they replaced Leliana with Morrigan and Morrigan with Leliana. All I hear when someone says "Leliana" is a kind, sweet girl who went through a lot of pain but did not change. Who loved to sing and tell romantic stories. Who loved drama and SHOES. I kept her innocence intact in DAO and didn't let her change in DAI even though she wanted to.

This only happens if your Warden killed her back in Dragon Age: Origins (you monster! :P). In that scenario, she is the same kind of creature that Cole was, a spirit made flesh via the intense magic of the Temple of Scared Ashes and its lyrium wellspring.

It's an interesting theory, but it's a shame that BioWare will never delve into it. There's no modern politics to be exploited if they went down that route after all. Rip to Leliana and Cullen. Veilguard was the first Dragon Age game they never appeared in.

The truly sad thing is that Solas’ last lines in each ending are actually fire, each one representing a different side of the character, but god damn did BioWare drop the ball get to those points. Nothing feels like we’ve truly earned those lines from him.

Take a few things into account... leliana, back in origins, claimed to hear The Makers voice. She has since been shown to have almost psychic abilities... we know of TWO Ancient Elven Dieties bound in flesh, Solas and Everyones Favorite old Hag...(why can i neber recall her name when i need it. Morrigans mother.)... the elves also had a deity connected to Ravens. Its quite possible Leliana was ALSO A bound Elven God. Or... Well, she IS Friends with Morrigan, whose Namesake is a Celtic Godess of Death, chooser of the slain, kingmaker ETC, who could take on the form of A massive Raven... so maybe Leliana is taken away by Morrigan, who, being the child of a literal goddess, has ascended to a greater power. Of course, id never find out, i made her the divine. Anything to spite Cassandra(i HATE Cassandra.)

most playthrough of inquisition seem to assume Leliana died in origin if you dont have a save file or story thingy done.. I didnt played origin before inquisition since I keep crashing after the first village where you meet her but she was dead in my inquisition's playthrough during origin(went back later to check what kind of choice they picked for me) XD

Its reliant on her dying in Origins. Flemeth can die in Origins and Morrigan straight up tells you that she's not really dead. Leliana is like Flemeth and Solas. The old gods are not dead and gone. All of inquisition was leading up to that revelation. Leliana is most likely Dirthamen. Elven god of secrets and knowledge, and master of the ravens Fear and Deceit. Dirthamen gave to elves the gift of knowledge and taught them loyalty and faith in family.

Hardened, not Evil. Leliana was a former assassin-bard. Though she is still one technically, her heart always wants compassion. Whether it's DAO, DA 2 or DAI, Leliana is just the sweetest.

It's not that. They completely assassinated and retconned her character. Just another bad stuff in a shitty game. She was never as innocent as she pretended to be in Origins and that was clear in that game, but she was also not could blooded sociopath. And there is nothing in game to justify her character 180 turnaround. Whatever she saw working for the Chantry could not be worse than what she saw working as an assassin before to make her into a completely different person.
