Just a quick comment on flipping the shrimp or other food. If your not using all the racks at the same time, put one on top of the food then just flip it over. Much faster, if it doesn't stick. By the way after watching you I think I may get one. Thanks for your time.

Yes I found that could be a chore. The whole chicken thing made such a mess of the fryer which just causes more work than it would if you were using an ordinary oven. All the flipping and turning would get me down also because in the other fryers or oven you do not have to do that

No need to flip if they make it for the rotisserie. Most industrial rotisserie do have a press or fish net attachment. The 1 thing I was thinking while watching and uneven cooking. Restaurant rotiserries also have 2 heating elements but being so small I get it.

James, Thanks for doing these videos! I bought this air fryer and have used it twice. I was gonna return it because I didn't feel it gave me a good enough reason to keep it in my 1930's kitchen. Space being a premium EVERYTHING in my kitchen must perform well and have multiple uses. To that end I watched both of your videos on this subject and I've decided to keep it and follow your example. Oh and by the way, I agree with you it's not an air fryer it's a convection oven. Thank you again for showing me there is more to this gem then meets the eye. :)

I was able to do a 5 lb chicken, I had to truss it to the point it might explode, but i did have about 1cm of clearance and it came out perfect. They make perforated parchment that works great for canned biscuits or doughy things. I made 6 chicken quarter legs last night, 290 degrees F for 60 min and they came out similar to my smoker chicken ( minus the smoke )

As you know, I subbed to your channel just 2 days ago, and this, by far, is the best of the dozen or so video sequences I've watched. I'm learning to trust your good judgement and wisdom more and more. Buying one of those "contraptions" would fit well within my cooking fantasies, (little time, want to bake something at the same time I'm making dinner, or just want to "set-it, forget-it", (with your wise warnings and/or adjustments and as I gain experience). You're about the most honest and thorough reviewer I've ever found on KZbin. You buy lots of "gadgets" I'd never try or ever need, but your cooking ones really show how you shine as an impartial reviewer. Thanks so much for all the effort, time, energy, video and editing skills you put into each and every one of these. I'll even be looking at your "gadgets" I'd never buy, just to boost your view and ratings numbers and have some fun watching you! One question: as a skilled musician, do you have any "gadgets" (e.g. metronomes, tuning devices, electronic instruments, keyboards etc.) the you have reviewed or might consider reviewing, (even if they are NOT "as shown on TV" kind of items)? Happy holiday season to you and yours.

Thank you again for another nice comment. I can't say I have any music gadgets. I've seen all kinds of crazy things like self-tuning guitars, but with music I tend to prefer simplicity and old school "technology"!
@AWWx27 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course, and well-deserved, I'm thoroughly enjoying your cooking gadgets videos as I bake my holiday pies this afternoon. And YES, real musicians know that music is always the skilled use of the science and the technology of the centuries to make and perform the "art" that is the music.

Yes I did a pizza. With a sharp knife you can cut the 12" frozen pizza (yes, while frozen) into quarters, I can fit 2 quarters on the tray, cooked in 7 min. Since I like my crust softer, hubby like it crisper, I put my pieces directly in the drip pan, got a nice soft crust. Did hubby's on a higher rack, his was crisper, and a bit more done. We both thought it was better than oven baked. Just did a large chicken breast on the rotisseri. (not the little frozen skinless pieces) I deboned it, seasoned, then tied it like you would tie up a roast so it was somewhat compact. Put it on the rotisserie skewer and let it go about 30 min, till it temped 160. Perfect, moist, tender, juicy. We don't really care about eating the skin, but I did leave it on to help keep it moist. I was even able to pour a little water into the drip tray to loosen up the drippings, carefully pour into another pan to make a sauce. (thats a bit tricky but can be done). It was wonderful, so much better than oven roasted. Since getting this I pretty much haven't used my oven.

shaking head at silly remark. Do the math. 210 outlet, preheat oven for 10 minutes. bake a small tray of cookies for 12 minutes. Air fryer oven, 110 outlet, preheat for three to five minutes, bake for 6-8 minutes. Which one uses more electricity, which then raises electric bill, which is then more money out of their pocket? Are you rich, single or in the military and live on a base, so don't have to worry about bills? Because a lot of people do and so try to be more conscious of where their money goes.
@rorschach40896 жыл бұрын
Janna Clark I’ll pay the extra five dollars for the electricity lol. And no I’m not single I’m engaged and own a home. I’m just not so worried about money that I’m going to buy this thing to save a few bucks a month. My electrical bill is the least of my worries. Don’t focus so much on money you’ll be much happier. And I promise you their are many opportunities in this world to make a very good living you just have to develop the skills and apply your talents in the right field. It just comes down to motivation.

Thank you for the videos. I have enjoyed using an air fryer so I decided to move up to the oven. It's on it's way to me in the mail. For the frozen french fries, try spraying them with a bit of oil for crispness, the parchment paper was a mistake with the cookies it impeded the air flow. Parchment paper was generally recommended for conventional ovens to keep the cookie bottoms from burning, burnt bottoms should not be an issue with circulating air. On the infomercial I thought that he did two whole chickens together side by side there might be a way to do this with two skewers. I love your shrimp recipe (thanks) . An easy way to flip those is to use two racks. The cooking spray is a great suggestion. The thing about cooking with air is that most real food comes out juicier and less oil is used so its healthier. I don't eat too much frozen food. One recipe I loved in the air fryer was country style spare ribs they come out nice and juicy and taste a lot like pork roast. What about baked potatoes I love oven baked potatoes, microwave is not the same another great thing about air cooking is that you are not radiating your food like you do in a microwave. Thanks again, I'd love to see more.

Did you try the power air-fryer as a dehydrator after the tomatoes? If so, did you try to make jerky?
@markmartineau16906 жыл бұрын
I found I needed to up the temp of the dehydrater about 25 deg to dry my hot peppers

The problem I see with making jerky is that even if you cover all three trays, when it's done its shrinks so much that you don't really have much in the end. In fairness, I must say I have never tried to make jerky in in the air fryer oven and am basing my opinion off of making jerky in a standard dehydrator.

Just a notice for cleaning this brand air fryer: There is an upper mesh tray to protect the top element in the air fryer. To remove and clean, there is an upside down forward metal handle to pull on to take it out. Soak in hot water as you do for the food mesh trays, clean with brush, and slide back into place with upside down metal handle pull in the front. We have the newer Power Airfryer oven Elite. The oven door opens sideways. There is an oven metal vented box type of basket. I appreciated the demonstration. Is there anything you would want to try? We do our french fries on the metal tray, placed in the middle of the oven, and they do get crispy. We also do a chicken at 375 degrees in the metal vented basket @ 30 mins each side (flipped over). The handle to pull out the basket is awful and will not hold the weight. We use oven mitts to extract the basket.

For chicken/game hens and even small ham ... try using the rotisserie basket ... works great ... even heating and constant turning it over and over instead of having to flip it on racks. I do suggest: 1) don't over pack it 2) use the whole chicken and/or ham (other meats also) and 3) Do NOT use an excessively fatty meat in the basket. BTW I have purchased ( and not purchased) many items because of your reviews. Thank-you and ... Please, keep up the good work!

I have used a version of this, where you pull out a drawer with a perforated basket inset. I use it about 3 times a week to cook dinner for two. Fish, chicken (makes the best fried chicken!), hamburgers and several other things. It works great. The only advantage I can see that it has over the "Power AirFryer", you can pull the drawer & basket out, throw them in the dishwasher and then put them back in ready for the next lot. No other cleaning required. I even did some home made yeast rolls in it...and yup, good. The size, however, is limited...it is a larger drawer, not a small one. It is a 4 liter 'Secura" brand. Your reviews are GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Hi James. Watched your Power Air Fryer Videos 1 & 2. I just returned mine to BB&B. It was too much work to rotate racks, clean inside of oven after splatters, doesn't brown food evenly. There is no preheat button, Rotissori accessory is complicated. I put 2 cornish hens on Rotissori, they cooked but didn't brown evenly and it took 10-15 minutes just to get them on properly. Very messy to clean up, when rotating, stuff is falling on countertop or floor, you have to be very very careful that your racks are perfectly within the slots or it will fall. Anyways, I'm sure some people will like it, it just wasn't for me. I have the larger Nuwave Airfryer and love it. Fits enough food for family of 3. Thanks for the video, I'll be watching more. Less power usage & shorter cooking time.
@jannaclark26677 жыл бұрын
Less time, uses less electricity, doesn't put out as much heat, for college kids, those who have RV and travel a lot, single person or a married couple who live in a small home/apartment this is perfect. Example would be for hubby and me to put on one rack two pork chops, on another race two potatoes and fix a salad for a meal. No heating up the kitchen with cooking on the stove and baking potatoes in the oven and using a lot of electricity. For some it will be great, for some not worth it if they have a large family and all sit down to a meal at the same time.
@sunnyislesgirl64757 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Why spend money for something you already have. I have an electric stove. Why would I buy a spaceship for my counter? Maybe Eric Theiss likes wasting his time making food that nobody eats. Cake cones? Dehydrated bacon? Seriously?
@jannaclark26677 жыл бұрын
Two people just gave reasons as to why. You can use your electric stove that requires 220 or a air fryer/air fryer oven that requires 110, less electricity, less on electric bill. Less heat coming out so less air conditioning has to run to cool the kitchen/house down. Plus you aren't eating in a hot kitchen, trying to enjoy a meal in a hot kitchen.Quicker time as the fan blows the hot air around so the food cooks faster, less oil as it doesn't need a lot of oil due to the hot air and quick time. Perfect for couple who don't cook big meals (anymore) a single person, a student living in a dorm, someone who travels a lot using a RV to travel, or likes to camp and wants something to use when it rains and you can't cook over a campfire. I have a convection oven that has a fan, but we use our air fryer most of the time to cook meals. We don't have the oven one yet, but around a year from now I will probably buy one. Does that provide you with the needed info for why someone would spend the money on a spaceship when they have a oven to use?

LOL I was just thinking, wondering how it would do on baking bread. Got my stand mixer with a dough hook for a early Christmas present and am making bread. Was ordering from Amazon a lame (to slash the bread with) and saw this advertised, with the price lowered to around $160. Would love to have one, but hubby goes no, we just bought the air fryer.

JS Krawz why wouldn't it, it's basically just a convection oven, and you can cook in them like you can any other oven, if it'll fit it'll cook.

There is a setting for baking, so it should be ok for baking.

I bought my Air Fryer a couple of months ago, I used it once, now watching your video, I will use it more, thank you. The book I have did not give me times, it says temps. I now have an idea on times, that makes it more useful.

Wilton makes a 4-cupcake pan sold by Amazon that fits in the oven. Parchment probably should be trimmed to fit rack so it doesn't flop over on cookies. Thanks for the tip about the door. I didn't realize it was removable.

We had a convection oven a long time ago it recommended using a lower temperature than a regular oven. Also, rotate the cookies halfway through. Part 3, show the bottom of the food. How the bottom of pizza and cookies looks is just as important as the top.

If advertiser whole chicken and you did a cornish hen, then its way to small. I think you saved me a lot of money.
@lizzettecruz50547 жыл бұрын
Joyce Weaver that's exactly what I was thinking. If a Cornish hen barely fits, a whole chicken definitely won't. I guess the infomercial guy had no problem calling a Cornish hen a chicken, even knowing that there's a significant difference in size between them.

Pretty sure if a 5/6lb whole chicken in air fryer xl, one can be done in this
@Cugastratos6 жыл бұрын
The model he is showing is the 6 qt model (which is what I have.). There is a larger 8qt model that costs a bit more but probably could fit a whole small chicken.

Got the Power Air Fryer about a month ago. Like many I was not sure how it would work being another one of those “As Seen On Tv” products. Right out of the box after cleaning the unit I had decided to cook some fries. They came out tasting just like the big name fast food restaurants. Nice and crispy and not soggy. Since then I’ve used this machine almost everyday. I particularly love how it makes grill cheese sandwiches. Bread nice and crunchy and cheese melted perfectly. I had also gone to a fish and chips restaurant and had brought home a couple fish sandwich that I didn’t finish. The next day I took them out of the fridge and of course just as expected it was a soggy mess. Before I would pop them in the micro and they would come out hot but no crunch. So I thought I would put them in the Air Fryer Oven to see what a difference it would make. Much to my surprise they came out nice and crispy and hot. I read one review where a woman said she and her husband used there’s almost everyday I can see now what she was talking about. I love the way the door comes off in order to pull things out of the unit. As other reviews state it is a little tricky getting that top rack out without burning yourself. Just as with anything a few trials and errors and you figure out how to handle pulling the racks out. It’s a very easy clean as well. I would like to see a little larger pan in the bottom to catch the drippings but again no biggy there. I did put the aluminum foil on the bottom of the drip tray as some others had suggested. I do find it a little small or at least the one I have is. This is not something I would suggest using with a large family. I can see where you might spend a little more time than you want getting everything cooked. I live in a household of just two and it’s perfect for that. So with all being said after a month using it I would have no problem giving this guy a 5/5. Now this guy has become my favorite appliance in my house.

I just got my Air fryer and the first thing I cooked in it was a chuck eye roast. I marinated it in coke and some salt, pepper, garlic pepper. I just put it on the rack and cooked it for 20 minutes at 400 it was a little to red for me so I put it back in for 15 more minutes. It was the best roast I have every fixed. It was crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. I reheated it in the microwave the next day and it was just as good. Thank you for your videos they gave me a better understanding on how to use the Air Fryer. I am going to try chicken next.

Good thorough review.😀👍 I have a convection oven/toaster oven and over the years I guess 2yrs the convection fan stopped working due to grease build up. It makes a loud noise so I used slap it now I don't bother cutting it on. Only difference is my fan is on the side where this is on the top. So it will be good know how well it works for people in the long run.

I've had the air fryer elite for 3 months. I love it for french fries. Learning to make blooming onion!! I have used it more than 70 times. Low calorie fried food is great!

James: It was your earlier review that put the Air Fryer Oven over the top for me. I bought one last year and have used it on and off. You're right in that it's more of an oven. I think it may be more like a mini convection oven then anything else. The capacity is much more then other so called "air-fryers", but it does take a certain amount of "skill" to use one to it's potential. There are hot spots, like a grill, but the oven over all is great. Clean up is a breeze not only for the drip pan but the racks as well. Warm soapy water and a brush, even the toughest cleans up. The interior walls easily wiped down. What I find confusing is the lack of information found on store product. Take tator tots. The bag has recommendations for oven, deep frying and/or stove top but no air-fry. I've found no product in the stores that have air fry recommendations. It's always hit and miss for me. I do love my air fryer though.

I would love to see how the power oven is at baking a cake or brownies. Thinking this would be a nice appliance to put in the camper since the gas oven heats up the camper so much.

Thanks again. I wonder if cookies should be rotated by turning parchment, maybe foil would be better and put holes in it or on a tray and put on different shelf part way through. Perhaps a spritz of oil on the chicken would help.

Thanks for the review. I have the air fryer an I really like it. I have been debating whether or not to get the air fryer oven. Have you tried the regular air fryer? I made a lot of the same items you made in the oven version in the fryer and they came out really good. My favorite things I made in it is scrapple, fried shrimp n bacon. They come out looking really good and crispy. It does cook in less time than normally would, so you do have to be careful with the cooking time.

hi James, i just recently purchhased my power air fryer oven so watching your video gave me a lot of insight, for insight the brush to clean off the racks something as small as that can make your clean up very easy. So that will be one thing I will purchasing. Great job, one more thing maybe having a few friends over so you don't have to try it all by yourself.(just a thought)

Major thing I want to know: Does it become gunked up in the fan area like I've seen site reviewers say? What's the solution, how easy is it, if so - or any? Also, can't you do the shrimp in the same turning thing as the tater tots so you don't have to flip them?

Nice review bro. I have a Dash 2qt that I love, works great, and your review convinced me mine is good enough. Also, spot on "Airfryers are really mini ovens." That's my take it's the high convection air that helps.

Thanks for air fryer videos I’ve had one 2 yrs and never used. I was intimidated. But I did use it 2 wks ago and cooked bagel bites. They turned out good. Now I want to use it more and your videos really help me. Mine didn’t come with basket I wonder if I could order one somewhere? Mine did come with two large oven mitts. I want to make that shrimp! I’d like to see you make a small cake and cupcakes. Thanks again!!

Thought about getting one of these but after watching your reviews of it, I realized it is way too small, so I bought the Breville BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro 1800 W Convection Toaster Oven. Granted it cost more but a 1/4 size sheet pan without handles or a 13 inch pizza stone will fit no problem it comes with a metal 13" pizza pan but I bought an actual 13" pizza stone. You can also bake a loaf of bread or lasagna in a 5x9 loaf pan and cookies come out perfect. So thanks for making this review.

Oh and wanted to let you know that I did make Chestnuts in the basket over Christmas...cut a small slice in them so they would not explode,put the temp at 370 and ran the oven for 15-17 mins and they came out perfect...better then the oven or stove top and having to turn them and finding some burnt....Fantastic!!!!!
