Queen always wanted it to be a performance, not just a concert where they just stood at the mic for 2 hours then left the stage. All the band members play to the crowd. Roger is drumming his behind off throughout this song and singing the whole time. John Deacon wrote the riff, Freddie and David Bowie wrote the song. Vanilla Ice (Ice, Ice Baby) ripped off the bass riff and got sued for around 5 million dollars for not crediting the publishing rights to Queen and Bowie. Next Queen song: White Queen Live at Odeon, Hammersmith. It is outstanding, Freddie and Brian just kill the instrumental portion of that song.

The riff was "sampled/STOLEN" by Vanilla Ice in "Ice Ice Baby". Ice was sued by Queen and David Bowie in 1990 for using it without permission. An agreement was reached where, in a nutshell, Queen and David Bowie get official song writing credits on "ice ice baby" and Vanilla Ice got to keep a part of the publishing rights to it. Either way, Queen and David Bowie wrote the song, and it is THEIR iconic riff. As far as Freddie's stage presence. He was asked once, what instruments he played. He replied: "The crowd darling"..... :)

Seeing you sing the opening with Freddie was bad a$$ of you! Yep! Freddie's got you, man! Here's the scoop BIZ! I'm here to help your musical knowledge, brother.🤣 This song is actually a collaboration & Freddie is singing both singers parts - which is cool - but here's how the song came about. Queen was up in the mountains recording. David Bowie was close by so he stopped in for a fun jam session. They were playing other people's music & decided they should just write their own song together. John Deacon had been fumbling around with the famous bass line riff you immediately recognized. He actually forgot it when they all went to lunch 🤣 I can't remember who, but one of them remembered how it went. Thank God, right? Anyway - Queen had a song called "Feel Like" lying around. With a ton of cocaine & wine they all worked on it. Lemme tell you BIZ - Freddie is a diva but David is a Diva with a capital "D". He definitely wanted the song done his way. Not gonna happen. So they decided to go into the recording booth & each do their parts how he thinks it should sound without hearing the other. That's why their individual parts sound like 2 songs almost. Yet - I truly can't imagine it sounding any other way. Can you? Add in Deacon's bass line & some Taylor magic on drums & voila! Definitely, definitely listen to Queen & David TOGETHER (not just Freddie doing both parts). Listen to the official video if u want. Its tight. The live video is actually just a video a fan made that splices them onto the same stage. Still worth a view from you privately. David Bowie is such an iconic legend & his songs are just crazy interesting. I recommend you do at LEAST one of his from 2 decades. 70's songs first - maybe "Fame" or "Heroes" & then an 80's to hear the decade style "China Girl" or "Modern Love"? Just a thought when you get around to him.
