Hi, what's the name of the tool on 4:17 min of the video?
@Jazzhog4 жыл бұрын
Fantastic ! I've been in the collision repair business for 40 years. PDR has come a long way since it began. You just illustrated what an experienced PDR man can do with the right tool. Quite impressive. Off the street I would quote that repair at $1,200.00 in the body shop, not including blending the liftgate. A vinny job, meaning wholesale, about $600 to $700. Of Course that would be using low grade materials and without much detail in workmanship. Wholesale work is just keeping the shop guys busy when business slows down a little...
@DentDiscountPDRBodyShop4 жыл бұрын
right on Jazz Hog i appreciate your comment.. i do the same i will do wholesale to fill in blank spots in the schedule.

I grew up in the day of holes and slide hammer, what you did to this dent was mastery. A job like this without introducing intrusive damage deserves no less than equal or no less than 10% below the plastic repair jobs. It was an honor to watch this video.

I am keenly observing the prowess of the Man of Steel, while being mesmerized by the meticulous metal work. I'm both amazed and inspired by his dexterous skill. I'll continue to watch his explosive content with unending anticipation.

As a bodyman i would have replaced it. Thats why im watching to get better at repairs. Good pdr guys amaze me. Good job again
@ward261022 жыл бұрын
@@lewiskemp5893 Exactly, yes a lot of shops would replace because a big or complex dent takes more hours to repair than would make sense. Depending on the damage, replacement is often less costly than repair in a body shop. However with PDR it makes more sense to repair as it is often faster that stud pulling and rounds of filler and sanding.

Great job sir. As a PDR tech of 35 years that is always learning and constantly growing in knowledge & experience, I find it refreshing to see a fellow tech think outside of the normal linear thought process of dent removal. Reading how the metal is moving and seeing where the stressors are to alleviate them and get the panel flowing back in the right direction to which it was stamped is always key. Out of curiosity, what was your total time spent on this repair??? Now on to answer your question about pricing retail and wholesale. Being in the auto industry for close to a a half a century (dealership new & used) and is what I've done for most of my PDR career, I know that the only dealerships that'd pay to have that crater of a dent PDR' d would be the high-end stores IE: Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover, and all of the exotic ones as well. However, the remaining ones would ship it off to Juan or Jose's wholesale body shop for $400-$500 for that quarter panel repair. And myself and I'm going to assume that you as well would touch that dent for that cheap, unless we were trying to help out or land a account to make a statement. In which case I'd be at least 1k minimum to 2k depending upon which dealership I am at and what (at that point in time) the market and customer will bare. Comparing what a local body shop would charge for that repair in my market would be anywhere from $6000 to as low as $4000. Now for the retail price, I'd start at 3.5k and go no lower than 2.250k.Here again it's what you feel you can close the customer at without loosing the sale. KEEP ON PUSHIN METAL 098

Man of steel, it's the first time I'm watching one of your videos and I am blown away. I am a mobile dent and paint guy and I would never though something like that could be done without body filler. I try to use the mini dent tabs with my slide hammer and sometimes as I am putting on the slide hammer on the tab it will drop off. What kind of glue sticks you use and where do you get them from. Also where do you get your glue tabs. You are an inspiration. You should be called "Magneto - man of steel".

I really wish things like this would work on my 50 Dodge but that 16 gauge steel is just too heavy or maybe it's 14 gauge. I had an accident and put a big dent in my hood it took me two days of Molly and Hammer work to get it out to where you can't even see it. So it did damage the paint so much I had to repaint the car but it needed it anyway because it was an old paint job. The dent at the edge of my hood looked a lot like that but it came out with a hammer and Molly.
