I would like to add the Jhogos Nhais culture probably evolved the way it has as a primary means of battling the Jhogwin. The swarming hit and run tactics of horse lords would be the best way for little men to fight 20 ft giants. It's even in the name kind of. Jhogwin. Jhogos Nhai. Their cultures name comes from their defeated enemy.
@DavidLightbringer9 күн бұрын

Nope there is an Arkenstone in the books. The Heart of the Mountain. Thorin looks for it obsessively. But Bilbo finds it and gives it to Thranduil, to ransom for the Elves share of the treasure to end their siege. Bilbo had been promised a 14th share of the treasure so he figured he could choose the Stone.

What if the wildlings were left on the "wrong" side of the Wall because they were thralls?? thralldom is an element of First Man culture. that would give a reason why these people could be forced to stay as sacrifices, if they were more or less owned by the people who got to stay on the safe side. that also makes their commitment to their personal freedom all the more powerful, if there's this mostly forgotten genetic memory of a time when they were under the control of someone more powerful, and it put them in the ultimate peril

If I made a Song of Ice and Fire movie, it would be a Gothic Tragedy about Bael the Bard and his familial woes. As a filthy capitalist, I would set up the Stark/Bolton tension and tease the coming fight between them so we can get a sequel. I actually do think this story would take two parts to properly tell. If I really wanted to take a creative license, I would want my movies to be a Trilogy so I can take time and flesh out the perspective of Lord Stark. The fact he is Lord of a Great House and is unmarried, widowed, and with only a daughter must have a really sad story in itself. My favorite stuff in ASOISF has always been the character drama. The primary thematic influences of my vision are probably borrowed from Hamlet, Petals on the Wind, and Dances With Wolves. If I ever get to make it, there is an open spot for you and Tim to be a comedic relief Maester duo.

2:36:36 If the “Gon” in Aegon refers to a Latin word for seed/starting of a line…any ideas of a Latin word meaning the end of a line? I’ve always been a big believer in Jon’s true/Targaryen name being Jaehaerys (Jaehaerys the Reconciliator!) but if “Gon” or “Gone” means beginning, I feel like there might be a “Mon” or “Mone” type of Latin word that could mean End, in which case I might finally accept that Jon’s true name might be Aemon after all! Great stream as always guys, loving all the new content!!

@NeverUseAnApostropheАй бұрын
Melisandre takes credit for killing the eagle, but she's never done anything close to that in the story, she does NOT have the ability to spontaneously combust others. The eagle was killed because it had a psychic connection to another and that connection is violently severed at the Wall. We see this happen with Coldhands at the wall and at Bloodraven's cave, anyone who is warging cannot cross the magical threshold. It is the same reason why the queen's dragon would NOT cross the Wall no matter how she tried to coax it.
@DavidLightbringerАй бұрын
no I don't think that explains the eagle bursting into flame. kicking the warg out, perhaps. but the fact it burst into flame means Melisandre almost certainly did that. I have no idea why you would think that she can't do it, there's no evidence that she can't. she absolutely can wield fire magic
@katzenjammer.Ай бұрын
@@DavidLightbringerno evidence that she can. She never thinks about any pyrokinetic(?) power. Michaeltalksaboutstuff’s theory is similar to what the guy above said plus the idea that its not just simple warging. The eagle has three heads(the creature, Orell, and Varamyr). Same reason why dragon wouldnt cross the wall. The rider, the dragon, and the valyrian/great empire spirit in the dragon.

Regarding Torumund and his horn and Thor stuff. I don’t think you two, Dave and Tim, have chatted deeply enough with Eldric Stoneskin. The Horn that wakes the sleepers is possibly the Horn of Winter. It may work like Children’s Hammer of the Waters (think, Hammer of the Storm God) which is A ⚡️ LIGHTNING BOLT! what does it do, it calls a Lightning bolt down to a Weir Wood tree and wakes the sleeping Stone Stark Giants in the first floor of the Crypts, where Azor Ahai aka the Last Hero (or a relative of his) waits to be called upon to help when the new Long Night comes (“and all the [Long] Nights to come”)… he’ll “rise again, harder [stone from the grey scale they helped give him since they have stone magic] and stronger!” The reason he and his band don’t go mad from greyscale is because their souls were stored in the weir wood tree (or maybe their Dire Wolves, if that’s more satisfying to you since i know you like the “ghost is a soul jar” idea, as do I) while their bodies are prepared. Why stone bodies? It just replaces your Fire Wight theory where it’s perfect for ranging beyond the wall and also fighting the others. waymar Royce’s house is know for having magic armor on their skin which is magiced by runes on their skin. The others in the prologue may not have been testing him to be their leader. They were concerned he was Azor Ahai or one his band rising again with a magic sword but also that magic stone armor. It’s very satisfying and you guys should embrace it and mold it into your theories.

I love ya to death, but ya kinda misrepresented anarchism and communism here, few, if any, of the free folk really match either even if they embody the spirit at times. Anarchism is inherently anti-capitalist so there is no such thing as "anarcho-comminism". The right stole terms like "libertarian" and "anarchy" from the far-left and some of their thought leaders even acknowledge as much. In most of the world "libertarian" still means "anarchist" and anarchism is anti-aurhoritarian socialism/communism. Anarchism also, at it's core, is an analysis of power and a rejection of unequal power structures in society/rejection of hierarchies of power. Not delusions about our different capabilities, our physical differences, our unique knowledge and skill sets, etc, but a rejection of institutions, power structures, and cultural norms that that instill hierarchies, dominate individuals and groups, and create classes in society. Anarchism is NOT a rejection of order and structure, however, in fact, an old saying and backstory to the circle A symbol used by anarchists for generations is "Anarchy Is The Mother Of Order" (A). The issue isn't order or structure, its how its executed. We reject order imposed on people and structures meant to dominate us, not order we create for ourselves and structures that enable us to live our best. We live in chaos now, we reject that chaos and the argument that chaos is always a bad thing. They ain't mutually exclusive. Communism, by definition, is a self-organized, classless, stateless, and moneyless society. Communists and anarchists have the same goals in the vast majority of cases, the separation lies in means and some theoretical differences. What you're referring to is Leninism/Maoism, which is a significant right and authoritarian deviation away from Marxism and other socialist currents (including anarchism) in both means and theory. But they in no way enforce "from each, to each" political economy by any stretch, thats supposed to be self-organized, not enforced from the top-down cause it would require the state as an arbiter and where there's a state there is no communism. Now, I'm no expert. I've just been an active anarchist for the better part of a quarter century that's dedicated an obscene amount of time to reading about these things 😂 I will say though, even if he never calls himself such it seems like GRRM definitely has some anarchistic analysis in ASOIAF. Many hippies were or were informed to some degree by anarchism, see Yippies for one of the most influential groups of the era, as well as Black Mask/Up Against The Wall MF.
@DavidLightbringer27 күн бұрын
brother, you've taken this wayyyyyy to far and too seriously. You're trying to have an entirely different conversation that what were were here.
