I was born and lived VERY local to where this is filmed. This stretch of river has been fished for barbel since the late 19th century as I was told by some 'old boys' who had fished this stretch all their lives, they were by the way master roach anglers. They told me back in the 1960s that 'toffs' from London would come down and fish for barbel from punts. So this strech of the Thames at Sunbury has been well known for barbel for over 100yrs. With regards to the fishing, despite fishing this stretch weekly in my youth the biggest barbel I recall was 6lbs, and the largest I personally withnessed was + 4lb which one of the 'old' roach anglers hooked one sunny Sunday afternoon on a very busy river full of boats, swimmers & dogs - a big suprise ! Now with double figure fish comming out regulary + carp, perhaps some things have got better with time for a change, because I can aassure you 'it was never like that when I was a lad'.

Every time i film the River Thames i think the same thing, on the right day it's hard to believe you're actually in London. Free stretch of the River Itchen next, not quite as nice to look at but it's free fishing and parking so can't complain too much. Lol..😊 Thanks for the comment bud..👍Tight Lines..🎣🐟

I have fished the first swim a few times now but yet to hook into a carp. Great sheltered swim tho . Just a bit busy sometimes with paddle boarders. The second swim look great tho . 👍🏻

I'm uploading a vid on Runnymede Pleasure Grounds this week, if i remember rightly in one of your messages a while ago you mentioned Runnymede, i was wondering if you can confirm that you just pay for parking there and the actual fishing is free or not.? A couple of people have suggested that's correct but a confirmation from you would be doubly excellent..!! No probs if I'm just dreaming things up as it wouldn't surprise me bud..😆👍

@@MUCKER671 hey Mucker . I have seen some signs that mention paying for fishing . But every one I have spoke to has never payed or seen a bailiff in all the time I have fished there and I must have spoken to at least 40 plus’s anglers … so might be worth asking local council sorry I don’t have any more info mate . I have had some nice pike out of a swim halfway down from the pleasure gardens towards the national trust car park and also by the rowing club . All the best mate

I've tried the local council, the E.A the two cafés all the local tackle shops plus loads of other things but i just kept getting palmed off each time.. I've been verbally and physically attacked 5 times in one day doing these videos from brain deads, luckily I know how to handle myself so with gentle Persuasion (not) I've managed to straighten them out fairly rapidly.. Your dead right about the fishing and sharing information, it's a sport and a hobby which should be accessible to all. Thanks so much for the nice message, it's really appreciated..😊 I must admit it was a hard decision to start posting these vids publicly but over the years I've wasted many an hour, many a day and lots of fuel money travelling around the country looking for places and being disappointed when I get there. After all fishings a hobby and it should be shared with everybody not hidden away like a secret Squirrel hiding his Nuts..😂😂 Having a short break from filming for the next few weeks, if all goes to plan this spring and summer I should be covering lots more River Thames and Wye. Hi buddy, glad to help anytime..👍 The only two places I know of personally that has access to the tidal Thames is Ham Street car park just below Eel Pie Island, make sure you check the tides before you go as the car park floods on a spring Tide and with high river levels plus you will need a landing net extension handle as the riverbanks are very steep at low tide so hard to reach the water. The only other place I can suggest is at the end of River Lane which is just downstream from Ham Street car park, same again long landing net needed but good access. Park at the end of the road and then just a short walk to the river where there's a Slipway which I would suggest to fish in the evenings. Ham Street Car Park is good for Bream and Carp, there's a large plateau on the downstream side of Eal Pie which is worth a try, fish from the concrete steps if you can. Lots & lots of Perch under your feet at River Lane. That's the only two spots i have fished on the Tidal Thames. Definitely feeder fishing Maggots and Worms with a fairly sticky Ground Bait. I've found all over the Thames the fish seem to like a really long hooklengh when Moggot fishing, min 3ft and up to 6ft on curtain days (when you just keep getting little knocks and can't hit them in time) Total opposite to how the mainstream think but it can work.. For the Carp Chub and Barbel I'd recomen 10 or 12mm Trout Pellet boilies with high oil Trout Pellet paste made from finely ground high oil Trout Pellet. Wrap it around your weight and cover the bait and hook with a Walnut sized paist ball. You should be able to re-cast at least once without the paist falling of or dissolving, so a very sticky mix is needed hence the Higher Oil Trout Pellet Paist.. Standard Carp Safety rigs seem to work fine for me bud.. You can search Barbel Carp Cat's And Camping in KZbin and you'll see an explanation on the Trout Pellet rig in my AppsCourt vid if you haven't already. (at least i think it's that one)..? Hi buddy, it's at the intersection of Thames Street and Green Street just above Sunbury Lock. Also Sunbury Nursing Home is nearly opposite. Kingslawn is a lovely spot but don't cast past the nearest set of bouys on the opposite bank as there's ropes in between them.. Best swim on the non Tidal Themes bye far for the occasional massive Barbel..😊👍

Why would you broadcast all these places, parking spots etc... This is a heavily fished area and you are inviting all and sundry to come and have a go. Surely part of fishing is exploration and finding these places by one's own intuition? Soon it will be full of divs who watched your video and not long after fishing will be stopped on the section due to litter(which is already bad) and unsociable behaviour. Agreed I fish this area a lot due to living local and being only 15 I’ve fished it for 5-6 years and Jesus I caught a zander at kings lawn when I was 12 and at the time I thought it would be a great idea to get it in a magazine (big mistake) the following week half a million boat going past with lures hanging off the back and no space to walk on the bank

Sorry but a lot of Anglers who have disabilities or can't travel long distances can't search for days like other people. They need good access to river fishing as there isn't much at all in the UK. Yes the odd club may offer a crappie swim on some obscure river next to a car park etc but would you accept that if you were in there situation.. Fishing is supposed to be a sport that is acceptable to all and not just who lives nearest..

@@MUCKER671 it’s got nothing to do with who lives the closest if they want new spots to fish let them go on google maps and find it themselves rather than you broadcasting it to everyone including some Eastern European’s who eat fish from the thames killing off good spots so the spots you showed won’t be good spots anymore they will be f*cked

@@MUCKER671 just to give you an update, the stretch is now being fished by more and more people. I don't say anglers as some of the methods being used are in my opinion barbaric. No unhooking mats, fish just lobbed back in, unsociable behaviour isxalso a problem. Litter has been worse than I've seen before, and I've fished here for 30 years or more. I can tell you hardly anybody fished here at one time. Now people come from far and wide. The result of all this is that residents have tried to have the fishing in this area stopped. I get that you are aiming at disabled people and good access for them but I personally haven't actually seen any disabled anglers there. You're trying to do something good but unfortunately with people how they are nowadays this sort of thing is somewhat misguided and counterproductive. Sorry but thats how I see it.
