Time and time again I have asked these guy's if they need any money and they always say no.., way back when their stove bust I offered to buy them a new one and they said no.., they had got replacement parts from a subscriber.., that speaks volumes for the people they are.., we all enjoy the content they put out and how they always go above and beyond to immerse the viewer in their journeys.., so please please if you can become a patron for as little as $3 per video.., its not alot but it goes some way to thank them for making all our lives that much more enjoyable as they drag all our ass's around the coast of Australia.

Watching from San Francisco, thinking I want my sails made from your sailmaker! He was superb! The look on Troy's face after the first sail with Pascale's giggles as she is recording truly relates to the excitement & joy that was put into the Ol' Girl!!! I really appreciate the depth you go to when talking about this stuff. It's amazing how many videos there are on youtube meant to teach this stuff, yet lack any of the depth required to actually learn without actually having the equipment in front of you. I can't even begin to count the number of times in the last 8 months since I discovered that sailing is something I am actually interested in, that I had to pause a video to google what the person was talking about and proceed to visit 10 or 15 different results just to get an idea of something that is basically a simple concept, but because the person making the video just assumed that anyone watching it already knows what they're talking about.

This is a great little boat and Troy continues to amaze me with his skills. And it's good to see a loft in Australia that does everything in-house instead of outsourcing the work overseas (and good to see a young apprentice learning the trade). I'm in my 70's, we used to do make everything here in Australia ourselves, absolutely everything. We were totally self sufficient, nowadays those hard earned skills and hand me down knowledge is steadily slipping away from us..

This boat is a few feet too small but they love it. They’ve been doing a complete refit for the last 6 months to a year. I really like many of the changes they’ve made. They went with synthetic rigging and soft shackles. They’ve also kept it all of the systems very simple.

I imagine the use of heavier rigging hardware would come into play not as you state it here as a product of vessel length, but instead more accurately as a product of vessel displacement. Thank you for this, as always.

Rope rigging. Everything old becomes new again. My mate Steve has a short lifeline attached to the mast near it's base on his 25 ft Tophat. It has been a very welcome extra point of attachment at times.

Looking good you two. We find that baggy old sails cannot take as much wind as stiffer flatter new sails. The old ones act as a bit of a parachute and the new ones only direct the wind (except for downwind. We just put new sails on Windover and the difference is very apparent. Fair winds.

I think it's cool having "ropes" vs cables it seems like a throwback to the early days of sailing where they really had to use a lot more knot tying type skills. I know the new synthetic rigging is different but I think it feels a little more authentic I guess. Maybe I'm wrong but I like the route you've gone and it's not always easy to move away from the old familiar way.

Wow, that was so interesting, never been inside a sailmakers loft before, and that 50knot wind was a tad too much although it reminded me of racing in a 32 footer on Pittwater and getting a wet bum, taught me to wear a woollen jumper when racing in the winter. New rig and sails look fabulous guys, I will be happy to hear how Mirrool goes when things get serious!!! Thanks muchly for the vid Pascale, much appreciated.

Really interesting seeing the insides of a sail loft. The Sailing Frenchman did a good vid on taking his liferaft for a service which showed why it costs so much!! Mirool is looking so good, all freshly painted, new rig and new sails.... All that hard work is showing!!

I like the button knot for my soft shackles. It's a bit more fiddly than the diamond knot, but it's also stronger and very pretty on your rig. They just look very profeaional and you don't ever have to wory about slipage. .... if you would like to know how to make a button knot, then I will be more than happy to send you a video. .... ⛵💕🌠

Fabulous upgrade you've done. Watching them make those sail I couldn't help but think about the USS Constitution and her 42,710 square feet of sail. All sewn without benefit of modern machinery. It was originally flax but later canvas and now has modern material. But in the 18th century that had to be incredibly labor intensive.

I was told by a racer that the Dacron doesn't stretch, its all the threading that stretches. He was talking about shape, says a sail is a wing and has a special shape. Like you, I know next to nothing. But, I periodically have breakfast with a competition racer.I haven't heard much about the third reef, but I have heard of "storm sails" . The main comes down completely and your going along fairly quickly with the storm sail. Your subs up to 100k, your views on this one very good, so, looks like your a hit !

Hey, Troy and Pascal. Amazing work on your refit. Loved seeing it all. While watching this new sails episode, the KZbin algorithm directed my attention to an episode from 2018 where you answered questions--how you met, what next, etc. You said then that you planned to sail to Tasmania and then possibly get another boat! I love that you did a refit on Mirool instead of getting another boat! Is there an episode where you discuss the decision to restore rather than replace Mirool? You also mentioned in that 2018 video the idea of sailing offshore, possibly circumnavigating and not taking the trade wind route. Interested to hear more about that. Plans after Perth? (Story about meeting at Troy's sister's wedding wasn't too detailed!)
