not only that but the way Troy explains things is just awesome. and pretty much every one of the clips where Troy explains something, even something that seems completely trivial at the beginning, has taught me something - a new better way to do things, understanding how something works and the best way to service or build something.

So rare on YT no a once of nonsense every thing for a reason and a good one at that .Troy is a great teacher every episode I learn something. Sorry I have no word for Pascale smile, it is just it.

Just excellent -- you are both consistent, deliberate, well tempered, approachable (not snobby or overly technical etc ) practical and just great teachers with a bunch of forethought in the lessons / projects you teach and show off Not to mention the amount of great ideas Thank You -- really thanks !

In a packed field your refit videos are the best by far. Practical innovations for keeping water out of the boat win every time. Those sketches you describe as 'not so much design as showing each other what you want' are the very definition of design. You know what you want from experience and can simply draw out the design. As a professional designer I can easily see the quality in your thinking. Thanks for taking the time to share it.

One of the best sailing videos I've ever watched. So many good ideas and tips in this, not just the big stuff but things like the packing tape trick, little gooseneck in the mast cable conduit, counter sunk holes, extra loops of wire. Excellent - thanks for sharing.

40 yrs ago I refitted a 24 ft Endeavor (from Australia, one of 5 or 6 on the island that the Australian Undersea cable employees imported for their own R & R many years ago.) I knew nothing about sailboats but was intent on getting on the water. No boatyards on the island, no chandleries, not many sailors with the skills I needed to learn, so you can imagine the many phone calls to manufacturers, hundreds of howto sections from sail magazines (West systems was just getting started I believe, so used sikaflex which was available). It took almost one year but managed to get that boat on the water and basically taught myself how to sail. Your series really put me to shame cause it showed how my refit should have been done, instead of the Macgiver skillset I employed. Lessons learned: polyester resin cannot be used over an epoxy base; 5200 is very hard to remove once it sets and is not flexible; never give someone a grinder to use on gelcoat; there is not enough shampoo in the world to get fiberglass out of your hair and skin; swedging a loop onto 1x19 is not the way to end a rigging line. This was just one of the numerous goofy repairs I attempted. In the end I sailed the Endeavor for about three years outside the lagoon and reefs, gained the experience I needed. Your refit series on the 30 footer was just so enjoyable to watch when comparing my laughable attempts. The seahood is quite impressive and the shade attached to the boom is genius, boat manufacturers should offer it as an option especially on larger boats.

What a wonderful job you've done on the refit. I honestly think she's better than "Fact-Ree" as we sometimes call it here in the states. She's definitely better than factory for you, how you sail and how you want to do it. So many innovations as far as how you've rebuilt her that she's pretty much a boat of your own design now where it counts. Very well done and I wish you nothing but fair winds, safe travels and God's Blessings...
