I think it's sad, that so many women are afraid of a hair cut like this. It's so easy to style and still looks cute when it's unstyled. It can accentuate the face when it's cut right and can vary in length. I think that this is a cut that works for many different hair types and face shapes. One of my favorites.

It really depends. Some of us are stuck on a neat/ polished look. Others its because it can look dated. For me I cannot have slide cutting/ razor on my wavy hair it does not lay right at all. For straight haircut would be nice .

I had a pixie cut and i'm letting my hair grow out 4 the shag look aswell. Medium length bangs 2 the chin and long layers w/natural highlights. Wore this style when i was quite younger.

I was so mad with my stylist for cutting out the shag my sister in law hairdresser gave me when I went home. she gave me awful long layers, and I keep asking her NOT to do that. I found this tutorial and recut my hair. Someone complemented me on my haircut today. LOL. I now understand what language I need to use with my hairdresser, and will be sending her this tutorial so she understands the angle she needs to cut! Thanks so much for this.

I just used this tutorial to cut my daughters hair. She wanted a shag cut but with the bangs like these. I did this hair cut and then tweaked it a bit. She is 31 and won't let anyone cut her hair but me. Not sure why. I used to cut it way back when she was in the AF but now she wants a rocker hairstyle. It looks absolutely brilliant and she LOVES it. Love the videos and will use them many times I'm sure. I have a friend who is 85 and had heart surgery. I had cut hers before surgery and then 5 weeks after surgery (all during the whole covid). I don't know why people trust me but I love helping out where I can.

Matt, great tutorial! I have had to learn to cut my own hair because I moved and cannot replace my FABULOUS hair dresser I had for 25 years. I would wake in the morning, shake my hair and go the cut was so perfect for my thick heavy wavy hair. I feel your shag is about what he used. The only critique I have about your video is when you started on the top at 4:50 and finished you did not go back through and show the final length and shape of the wet finished cut .... you explained it very well but i would have liked to have seen the final wet cut lengths . \Keep up the tutorials as there are alot of stylists who did not pay attention in class .... put the phones down kids and pay attention. xxx

If only I could have you cut my hair. Every stylist I try says "you can't have that style because your hair is too _____." Yet if I get brave and do it myself, or bribe a friend with lunch and a promise to not blame her if it doesn't come out, it works. Once I got a cut like I'd wanted because the hair dresser agreed with me that my hair was over-processed beyond human help and was finally willing to do a pixie cut. Well, guess what? With a proper blow dry or a flat iron, a pixie cut totally worked with my wavy-ish hair. But I had a shag cut years ago, and that style was great for me. Air dried in no time, or in under two minutes with a dryer, and looked good even if I didn't style or curl it. Meanwhile, would love to have this style, but no one wants to do it for me. Gonna try the Salon Locator. Wish me luck.
