This was one of my favorite videos. Thank you for sharing and not editing out the “therapy” session haha it’s super unfortunate COVID hit, but it’s really helpful for us to see y’all struggle sometimes and know we’re not alone if we hit a wall. Also, I couldn’t help but watch this and want to remind you two that your viewers admire the hell out of you - DNF or 1st place.

Okay, so I know this was a year ago, but if you're hurting and mentally you're not in it, there's no point in continuing when you don't feel okay enough to keep going. There's training and understanding as to how to get to the peak of your performance. There's therapy to get through the difficult downs like this, and there's always ice cream to help with ALL the highs and lows. Life is tough af, being an athlete seems even worse in some cases and I wish you both well x

Nice job to both of you - especially given the circumstances. Miguel - knew something was off when I looked at the results after - figured you and I would be dueling it out at the front all day. Hope to see you get healthy soon! Even without Covid, I agree on higher HR/lower pace/power numbers (though not to the same extent as you). The heat definitely drove the HR up, to the point where I removed it as a data field on my Wahoo about 15 minutes into the bike, to avoid getting psyched out, and avoided looking at it on the run. Hope both of you get healthy soon - see you in St. G!

Hey, congrats to you for a hell of a race too! Tough conditions for /all/ of us on race day, so kudos to everyone for achieving as much as they were able.

I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from you two since I did my first triathlon a year ago. Start line anxiety and swim anxiety were my biggest hurdles. I did my 7th race (tris and road cycling) this year and had an amazing time. I’m glad to be a part of a sport and community with so many people like you two.

Hey guys! This is so real… and so relatable. I’ve had moments this year where I genuinely had to ask myself “why am I training this hard and putting all my time into this?!”. Especially training at an elite level while also working full time. I loved how you brought up that not every race is gonna be a PR. This video really hit home. Thank you for being vulnerable, because this IS what the journey is like!

I worked medical that day on the run course and it was hot! Many people had to get pulled off due to heat illness. Great job giving it your best efforts!

Although I hope you've never felt that way, I just want to comment that we are happy when you perform well, but you should never feel the pressure to perform for us viewers. You guys are the best, most authentic and as a fellow triathlete, I have to say: inspirational. Thank you for letting us be a part of these moments of vulnerability. Remember that triathlons are fun as hell! I wish you both a full and quick recovery from your aches.

Let’s start out with, this was one heck of a great job pushing this race to your peaks! You’re only getting stronger and faster. A rough race is inevitable, it’s what you do tomorrow that counts! The video is hands down the best made to date! I’m sure your eyes hurt, and your heads pounding but this is awesome content! WTG y’all!

Guys! I saw you in Milwaukee. I wondered what happened and here you are giving us the answer in the most beautiful, touching and elegant way… Your videos are meant to inspire not only triathletes, but people that want to face and/or overcome a situation… One not always wins…or finishes…but one tries it out…again and again…not fearing the outcome…we are not machines…considering that machines run out of battery too… It’s not always about the numbers…this is not a computer game…numbers measure our abilities but not our passion or will for what we do… Trial and error it’s the one and only way to improve in any of the aspects of life. There’s nothing more frightening that not recognizing the fears or the mistakes. Living in a bubble… You guys introspect very well…in the healthiest way! And help others that may be going through the same situation…like in this video. (It was hooot…I saw people passing out…) Keep it up! What’s next?! R

“Definitely like, just not a good idea to be out in the heat for hours before race day” Aaaaaaaand that’s what killed my run too. Sounds like we definitely weren’t the only ones. Got the chance to meet you all on Friday, though, and I’m glad I did! Y’all are a huge inspiration, even-and especially-in times like this when things don’t go according to plan. Looking forward to seeing you at future races!

Thank you for the video. Your candor is appreciated. My nationals wasn't what I hoped for, but in hindsight was a good result. Your perspective helped me to see the race in a better light. Cool swim start Miguel! Conrad, good job on the race day video and reporting. This is a great KZbin channel!

Miguel I talked with you a couple minutes before we started the swim (I was one of the few guys without a wetsuit) and Jenna I passed you on the bike just outside of transition and said I was a big fan. Hard to hear y'all had bad races and if it makes you feel any better I also had a tough day out there as well. I would say the weather conditions did play a part, but as you are aware, some things just don't go your way. Take some time to rest, refocus, write down your goals and get back on the horse!

I know my first DNF hurt bad, I’ve also finished a bunch of races I should of pulled out of and ended up in medical. It happens and for me it’s always the heat that packs it in and is hard to deal with. Great work knowing that it just isn’t the day

We are human beings and not machines. Every race day there are hundreds of variables that can affect the bodies performance. That's why on race day I repeat the Ironman mantra "Take what the day gives you". Sometimes the day gives you a DNF. Keep training and on to the next race.
