"Think of it, Batman. To never again walk upon a summer's day with a hot wind in your face, and a warm hand to hold. Oh, yes. I'd kill for that." And just like that, eight-year-old me realized "bad guys" are people too.

As you may or may not know this is the episode that first introduced Mr Freeze's new backstory, which was popular enough to be incorporated in both the comics and the live actions versions of the character. Even the name "victor fries" was created for this show, with his name having previously been "Dr. Schimmel" in batman 66.

It wasn't just incroporated, it became the default origin for the character till the end of time. Before that he was just another goofy bad guy with a freeze gun.

Freeze is another mirror for Batman, a picture of a man with frozen emotions and pain. He can't move past his loss, but instead of acting to help others, he becomes entirely introverted in his search for vengeance. This could have been Wayne, if he chose to go after revenge, instead of justice.

The hot soup breaking the glass is actually believable When glass is cold and you instantly heat it up it shatters That is why they say don't put hot water on your car windows to remove the ice cus the windows can just shatter in front of you

Kevin Conroy was the perfect voice for Batman and this version of Mr. Freeze was the best. He took his time when speaking, which is similar to Apocalypse from the X-Men.

Nice reaction, Yasmina! Not only did Heart of Ice redefine Mr. Freeze's origins in just about every other form of media, it also won a Daytime Emmy. Also, it's actually correct that episode order isn't really that important in the show's first couple of seasons. If you get far enough into the lore, though, you may want to watch the movie Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero after watching all of the Batman: the Animated Series episodes and before you start watching The New Batman Adventures. A few episodes of TNBA may not make a lot of sense otherwise.

You may notice that Alfred's voice is different in this episode. The role was recast early on in production.

So, one of the reasons to follow the release order is that the stories begin w/ Batman vs organized crime. The 'super villains'or Batman's Rogue Gallery begin showing up through the ciminal elements before delving into other means. Of course, you can watch them in whatever order you wish, just keep in mind that the mythos began to unfold from Batman's fight against general criminal activity prior to more specialized aspects of villany. Rupert Thorne in particular showed up faily frequently as an antagonist, not only as a crime boss, but also as a counter to Bruce Wayne's social standing as Rupert was held in high esteme socially, not unlike the criminal politicians of the early 1900s in metroplis America of that era.

I always thought it was strange that the voice modulation remained when he was out of the suit. Boyle was played by Mark Hamill.
@Rocket13775 ай бұрын
I think that was simply a mistake. In following episodes when we see Victor out of the suit, he doesn't have the voice modulation.

Bit of trivia, in case you weren’t already aware: “revenge is a dish best served cold” is a Klingon proverb (this may be more common knowledge than it once was). Mr Freeze is voiced by Michael Ansara who, among other things, played a Klingon in the original series (although he didn’t say the line). I find it unlikely this is a coincidence. :)

He said "I feel ill" but it wasn't the illness. If you know what I mean about that Boyle. Bruce has a way to indirectly express his frustrations. But he wasn't right. He was greedy and apathy was his motivation too. Boyle sucks.

Boyle also committed attempted murder (Victor), and 2nd degree murder (Nora) at least.

The episode order doesn't really matter. Not until you get to season 3, when you might want to swap the order of 2 episodes anyway.
@Rocket13775 ай бұрын
It does matter for some of the stories, especially the ones with Harvey Dent.
@teruienages9625 ай бұрын
It actually kind of does. HBO's order makes a complete mess of the natural order of events and it shuffles many two parts and keeps grouping in villain episodes so much that you get sick of them.
