I've made this green bean casserole for several Thanksgivings and it's always very well received. I love your humor and have learned so much from watching you over the years! I was watching some of your videos yesterday and it dawned on me how much of a role you've played in my cooking for a long time now. So thank you! Every time I see a green bean casserole recipe I am reminded of the time I went with a then-boyfriend to his uncle's for Thanksgiving only to learn that no one there could cook anything more complicated than scrambled eggs and toast. So I made an entire Thanksgiving dinner for 12 by myself in someone else's kitchen with low quality equipment. At least they thawed the turkey and had purchased quality ingredients. And a cousin volunteered to help keep things tidy and wash things between dishes while I worked so that was helpful.

@karenjohnston28444 жыл бұрын
I remember that when we would snap the green beans it was supposed to pull that side string off. That is why our grandmothers did it that way instead of cutting the ends off. I guess it doesn't matter and maybe we had to do it the time intensive way to keep us busy and out of trouble!

Just read your ingredient list and will try this recipe with your suggestion: One small change I would make next time, and that I’ve added to the ingredients list, is a small splash of sherry vinegar added to the onion mixture. As you hardcore foodwishers know, that is the secret ingredient in our famous French onion soup recipe, and I believe it would have better balanced out the sweetness of the dish.
