chris cool good question. In French Ring on the bitework exercises guard affirm and face attack, the Decoy is allowed to “esquive” meaning the Decoy can dodge the Dog with up to 3 steps to get the dog to miss. If the dog does miss, there is a drastic reduction in speed which gives the Decoy a benefit in his ability to intimidate the Dog or mess with the Dog as the Dog returns for the bite. This concept is called a return esquive which we mimic by spinning the dog as they are sent to the Decoy in a close distance. In random we also teach technique work that if one arm or side moves to bite center mass or the other side. This is a super brief explanation of return esquive but I hope it helps clarify the purpose of the technique used.
