Katy shows us how to make a cute little drawstring gift bag. Grab your favourite festive fabric and learn how to make your own. French seams are not hard (we promise!) and will give the inside of your bag a nice finish.

Now i know what a French seam is. I like the bag you made it seem so simple. Thank you and I enjoyed the fact that you did some simple errors that we all do as beginners. Many thanks from the UK

My apologies, I thought you meant the seam gauge that Katy was using. Here is the link to the 2.5 inch size, but you could use any of the larger square rulers as well: fabricationsottawa.com/products/square-quilt-ruler-25in?_pos=3&_sid=36926cb2c&_ss=r

I’m a beginner at sewing so although this project sounds easy, I need clarification please. To make the casing for the draw strings. I measure down the fabric 1 1/2 inches from the top edge of the fabric which is going to be the casing I’m going to be working with, correct? And then, I’m cutting or clipping into the fabric 1/2 inch inward, correct? This is how I’m understanding your instructions. I’m sorry, I just sometimes get a little discombobulated.

Yes you are making a cut 1/2" in, 1 1/2" down

I am sorry but the chaos is too distracting for me. Sounds like there are some who can tolerate it, but not for me. You need to be prepared before you start videoing and have everything you need at your fingertips. I could not see what you were doing while you were sewing but I have sewn enough to know. The mess makes a difference for me and I can't watch. Thankfully for you there are people who that doesn't bother.

Thank you for the feedback. Our goal is to create free content that is informative but also "real life." We are a small team of working moms and we do most filming from our homes, as opposed to a dedicated studio. We know there are a lot of great channels and tutorials out there and we hope you find something that you enjoy. Thanks for watching!
