Chef Ramsey taking her daughter, 14 yrs old, seriously and took her words face value, listening respectfully, was so refreshing. So many people just disregard what someone at her level has to say because shes a kid. I know she was getting snarky at times but shes very frustrated at this stage in the restaurant and life.

Besides the fact that Gordon always interacts beautifully with the servers (wich is usually fair), unless they really, really are a problem, I do love it when a server understands the essential task of delivering not only his uneaten food but also his exact snarky feedback verbatim to the kitchen. It's always funny and the people who are at fault need to be the ones to hear it.

I worked FOH (front of house) for 32 years as a server and a manager eventually. I won two 5 star awards, one 5 diamond, one 4 diamond and three 4 star Forbes awards. The 5 star award was basically the equivalent of a 3 star Michelin, because hotels (my industry) typically doesn't use Michelin 3 star. Anyways... Basically you have two toddlers, the guest and the chef, both are incessant complainers and both want what neither one has. I have to be mediator between two totally clueless retards, trying to get the both to agree on sharing the new toy they both got for Christmas. I'm joking of course, some chefs are awesome and understand the idea of get it done, and get it done right, and many customers are great tippers and fun to talk too, but on the whole I kind of want to drop kick both customers and chefs. "Is your water gluten free?"

At the same time, seeing Jen at the carving board was just painful. Why did they put her there? She doesn't know a thing about carving meat. He's great with kids and always charming with the ladies. It's not easy for a 40 year old man to have chemistry (not in a sexual way) with a girl half his age, but Gordon pulls it off without being creepy. Young, old, man or woman, he's great with everyone (except lazy chefs).

It‘s always so strange. Ramsay, with his reputation as a cursing sob, loud, rude and all you see so often, also has this calm side, this deep respect for produce and food, this empathy for families. It almost seems he can be two completely different persons, but strangely enough, he manages to be both at the same time. Huge respect for the guy.
@unavailablewuxian4923

I agree, he's a wise really competent professional, he usually says "Show some respect for what you're doing" or "When your passion is gone, everything's gone". That's what I admire him for it. He usually yells at scenes of disrespect or absolute ignorance to reality by staff or owners. (They also pay him to be a little more dramatic sometimes, whether in a happy or angered way, but it doesn't matter).

Before he was as TV famous as he was now, I met him in person and I know a few chefs that have worked with/for him. The brash personality is his TV personality and is why he's been able to make such a successful career out of his shows; it lends itself to the reality TV style drama that's mixed into the shows. He's passionate about food and that has always lead to emotional outbursts with profane language (as most good chefs are prone to), but in reality, he's a very soft and empathetic person and deeply cares about other humans and treats people very well, and even if his outbursts seem directed towards another chef, he's really just trying to rouse their passion, and what the cameras don't often show is the hours he spends with a chef teaching them to correct their mistakes. One of the chefs I know who worked in one of his restaurants was fired because he couldn't keep up with the pace of the kitchen...he put out great food, but he has anxiety and get's overstimulated pretty easily, and it kind of keeps him from operating at the pace necessary in a busy Ramsay kitchen. Ramsay apparently reached out to him directly, explained that he thought he was a great chef and had a lot of empathy for the situation, and recommended some places he thought he could be successful at and gave him a reference that got him like 5 job offers.
