We're all expecting a Frey Civil War to be this grandiose plot with multiple moving parts, but really - wouldn't it be more fitting George's style if Lord Walder just keels over from natural causes at say, a Lannister-Frey wedding at Riverrun? And then his various descendants, a gaggle of self-interested weasels, paranoid over the Brotherhood without Banners coming for them, instantly come apart at the seams, accusing each other of poisoning him? Then draw steel and start having at one another in the hall? All so the Brotherhood, who actually did infiltrate the wedding, can enter the hall thinking they're going to have this coup de grace moment, only to find the Freys themselves did their work for them?

I have feeling G.R.R Martin based Black Walder off the Black Douglas from the Scottish wars of independence. Both are called black, excellent warriors, both commit heinous massacres, Black Walder helps Red Wedding, while Black Douglas leads a massacre and kills unarmed men in a church during Mass, which is arguably worse than breaking guest right, because no blood is to be shed in the House of God. I guarantee you if Red Wedding happened in a Sept, it would have been so much worse.

That is considering things in the Veil don't go south before the army can get out to battle. If the avalanche theory or the Invasion of the Mountain Clans happens, the Riverlands would have to sort themselves out, and If the BWB with Lady Stoneheart go with the "RedWedding 2.0" in Riverrun, the Frey end could arrive faster than with a Civil War. Either way, I hope Olyvar gets Rosby and helps Roslyn

I think it would be sixth faction: Big Walder/ Stannis Supporters. I think after battle of Winterfell Boltons and most Freys in the North, like Hosteen, would die, but Big Walder would be taken captive and after that Stannis would say something like: Ok, you are going with us to the Twins., you would be new, loyal lord of the Crossing.

That theory definitely sounds like something that can be done by Baelish. Like, use the paper as an excuse, outsiders as a powerbase, install his rule without direct confrontation with Lannister house while they are weak, then once obtained control, switch sides for young grif or stannis, so he can reinstate Starks with Sansa informal control. Question is, how can he reinstate someone in North. Usage of this Frey dispute is a rather smart way to get the riverlands, so yeah. But that's just not enough for littlefinger's ambitions

The phrase could also be more literal. Rosby woman are known to have small frames and great difficulty in childbirth. Ill birth in this instance could mean that Olyvar’s birth was heralded by some tragedy or hardship, and it’s highly likely that Bethany Rosby died as a result of the birth of her only daughter Roslin (the aforementioned wife of Edmure).

I think Lothar may support Walda Frey (Edwyn’s daughter/ Black Walder’s bastard), saying that she is the true born daughter of Edwyn. Lothar will rally those within the Twins who hate Black Walder and seize one of the two castles. Walda makes a perfect puppet, since she is a young child. Black Walder’s faction, seizing the other castle of the Twins, declare Walda illegitimate. Walton is the third party, who gets support because of the fact he is an outsider (likely in the Vale) so he hasn’t been puppeted by Lothar. His supporters believe that Walda is a bastard, but they also hate Black Walder enough that they don’t want him as Lord of the Twins. Waltons powerful Vale allies is also an attractive incentive to make him Lord.
