I put a short screw into the side of my heater vent to hold it in place while all the outer ring to rotate. Keeps it from rattling loose while on the road

It looks like you have tighten the mandrel down onto the hole saw. When you put the mandrel onto the hole saw you screw it down until it won't go anymore then you back it off a little until the pins line up with a set of holes on the hole saw, then you screw the ring that brings the pins down into the holes on the hole saw. the pins do the driving not the round base of the mandrel. The hole saw may be a little lose but that's ok. If you really don't want the hole saw and the mandrel to be a little lose put some anti seize between them before you tighten them. if it is really seized on we use a big vice and a big pipe wrench . hope this helps. Great idea to insulate between the heater & fridge. Looks like a great height for you too. Nice design. Yeah, the price of wood is really difficult- you are wise to use metal studs and be cautious in your use of plywood.

If you have a impact driver (drill) just put it in reverse to get that mandrel out. Always worked for me.

Love that little Ryobi circular saw. I can't believe how handy it has been. Lot easier to wrangle than a full size corded circular saw.

Those "arbors" often times do get stuck, so here is how you get it unstuck. Chuck the arbor in the drill put it in low speed in reverse grip the saw blade with channellock or cobra pliers, you can also use a thin screw driver to pass through both slots and gun the trigger a couple of times. If you never want to have the same trouble again, get a roll of electrical tape and after you run the collar down and push the lock pins into the holesaw tape around the base an lock collar of the arbor at the same time effectivley locking the collar from backing out! Cheap insurance so you never have it get stuck again!

Looks like Birch laminate plywood, its very expensive here in Greece As well but well worth the price for certain projects.

The mandrel should be spring loaded, it has two pins that go thru the cup, that keeps the cup from tightening too tight. the black disc that is against the cup (with the set screw in the side of it) needs to pull up to the knurled disc, you will have to hold it up against the knurled disc to allow clearance for pins to be able to then unscrew it from cup.....

Don't forge to leave a gap for air flow for the compressor on the fridge.

Be sure you have ventilation for your refrigerator even if it is just electric. Your coming along fine be sure to stop and smell the roses.

The fridge definitely needs to have room to breathe. The owner's manual will show minimum clearances at the sides, back and top. It might be possible to use less clearance if fans are used to evacuate the heat from the cabinet

Take the mandrel into hf and have then show you how. Probably a little upward pry with a screwdriver will allow pins to come up and then you can unscrew the top piece

To stop the mantle from sticking on the hole saw place a thin cardboard between them that way if it sticks wet the cardboard and it should come free.
