Wife doesn’t like to cook so I started about 2-3 years ago. My mom was a farm girl cook (born in 1915) and as a kid I watched her and learned some things but, any one can do a lot with these you tube videos. I just did it by watching a video a couple times then pause, start all the way thru till dinner, done. Actually very easy but always double check the listed ingredients to what they say in videos cause sometimes there’s something missed, switched. It’s actually fun, and…..I make our pizzas too, 20 bucks for a pizza?-nah, I’ll do it.

I learned to make something similar from my Polish grandma. I don't use potatoes, we use wide kluski noodles with cabbage, kielbasa, and onion.

I make this dish all the time. I cooked the cabbage until softened, set it aside. Onions cooked it butter, then add garlic, can of Rotel. sliced thin smoked sausage cooked until browned, then a can of yellow potatoes, same browned up a bit. Add cooked cabbage, more butter S&P. heat through and serve with corn bread. Very similar to yours.

I love this combination of flavors! ❣️ I was in a produce co-op years ago and we would get a big box of produce every month. We never knew what was going to be in it ahead of time so that's when I created my vegetable medley. I would make a dish very much like this one and I would also add squash and other fresh veggies.💝 I also grew up eating a similar dish but instead of cabbage we added sauerkraut to the sausage and potatoes. 💗 I love them all! This is another lost video. 🧐 Not sure why I'm missing so many. I'm still looking for yesterday's. 😑 I always look forward to your videos! Hi Catherine.....as a demo chef in a grocery store here in British Columbia ...I am not allowed to cook yet because of the pandemic .......however I do spend time at my station talking with customers and handing out recipes. @@CatherinesPlates I tried to prepare this today and it just didn't work out for me at all I ended up with mashed potatoes the hash brown potatoes just would not brown. I had to add way more butter to keep it from sticking to my Dutch oven and I ended up with an awful mess will still eat it but it was sure disappointment love your other recipes but I'm not trying this one again

You can add chopped chicken and pineapple chunks for a Caribbean flavour and also crispy bacon and frozen peas and you can put chopped corned beef for a change

Made it tonight, easy peasy and wife, neighbor loved it. Surprising thing is I liked it and I’m not a cabbage person. Couldn’t get smoked so I used mild regular. Next time I’ll try hot if I can’t get smoked. I let some crunch in the cabbage and by the time it was plated and on the table it was perfect texture. I also left onions in big rough chop chunks. I give it 4.5 stars the way I made it cause of sausage difference. Probably 5 Catherine’s way.

I fixed this last night. I often fry cabbage and onions. I have fixed cabbage, onions, potatoes, and kielbasa in the pressure cooker. But this is the first time I did it all in the skillet. I happened to have a bag of frozen hash brown steak house seasoned potatoes. I am also doing Weight Watchers so I used the Butterball Turkey Kielbasa and I only used a generous 1 tbsp of butter to fry in, but otherwise I made it like you did and it was GREAT!!! I will definitely be making this recipe again.

Instead of using butter or some oil, get some bacon fat 😋 it pairs so well with any sausage, ham, corned beef, even beef tenderloin and fillet mignon. With some bacon grease you don't need to add any kind of meat if you don't want to. You're a good cook I've tried some of your recipes before and their great.
