Thanks Kent, In these times of inflation heading toward a new depression, your cooking has been a life saver, i am eating good, healthy food that satisfies me while being cheap, Do Americans have an American of the year award? If you do then you deserve one. Not a single person from any other country on earth (Even my own) has helped me as much this year as you have and you didn't even intend to, that's what i call the American spirit.

I made these for my wife and daughter tonight. I surprised them. Now they usually really like my cheeseburgers but this was different. My wife's eyes widened and she mumbled "oh my God this is good..".... But the best is when my 16 year old daughter took a few bites and didn't say anything and then put the burger down and said "Dad this is like a spiritual experience, this is the best burger you've ever made, can you make this for my friends when they come over?" After we finished supper I showed them the video that showed the childhood hamburger stand you used to go to and the story behind it. That made it even a better suppertime. Making and sharing great food with my family and a little fun love and history along with it. That is what life is about, thank you Kent.

That sure looks and sounds like a good burger! I come from Sweden and we do not have the same burger traditions as you, but I still remember my grandma really making a ton of fried onions for our moose burgers. Your video made me remember that. Now, moose burgers get very dry so what she did was putting a LOT of butter on top of the patty and let it melt down into it. When the patties were finished, she´d put sliced onions in the pan and let them get soft from the after-heat. When eating, I´d say it wast 30/70 onions and meat. And cooked potatoes, since it is Sweden. No critique, just sharing lovely memories. Keep the burgers going! :D

(I notice that you have Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky's picture on your profile. That's very interesting! I love his music too! Sometimes, when I hear his 1812 Overture, it brings me to tears!)

Tried this combination and i must say, it's GOOD! Now im a real stickler for burgers (they gotta be just right, al by the book) so i have high standards, but those onion burgers? damn, they're up there with the best angus beef burgers! Thank you Kent for bringing this classic wisdom and sharing it with all over the world!

@@CowboyKentRollins thank you, i did very much! oh, and its awesome you're keeping the *authentic* recipe; lots of ognions and bit of meat. i looked up onion burgers on YT and most look ridiculous, there's like a pound of meat per bun, you cant even see onions - that aint a depression era burger! As a person coming from a poorer corner of the world i respect you both keeping it authentic and the recipe itself that's cheap and delicious. if i opened a food stand, it'd be these burgers and these burgers only.

That onion burger looks so delicious and I remember eating some here in Arkansas decades ago also and loved them. It was at a local restaurant in the area which was open and I remember how delicious it was with the beef, cheese, onions and the dressing on it.

If anyone is like me and is having doubts about this recipe, seeing it as just another burger with some fried onions, rest assured that I tried this today. Even without a cast iron pan and having to use mayo instead of french onion dip (I can't get it here) this was a contender for the best burger I've eaten in my life.

Kent you are the first one I've seen that knows about dogs and onions....congrats! The burger looks great, but I appreciate your concern for your buddies. Had to edit, just ordered 2 of your cookbooks...Taste of Cowboy. Kent I really appreciate all you do and wanted to support best way I could. This book will be a great addition to my Mom's, sorry Mom's cook book is only for family.
