I think your interpretation of an average casual player is perfect. I remember back when I played this game for the first time when it was released on the 360, and up to last year when I would just screw around with my friends in GTA Online, mostly just causing chaos by killing players for the fun of it. Some may have even called me a tryhard due to how good I was, and I could understand it. I was never a speedrunner, but I love watching these. It's really interesting to see the different strategies and methods used. I've subscribed and turned notifications on so I won't miss a single episode of this series.

Speedrunning is very interesting and you just make it so graspable, so easy to understand. I love this series. I know it's old now, but I DO support this. We need more speedrunners taking their time of day explaining exactly what they do. This is how you get more people interested. I am even as you explain it thinking about running the game myself. This, too, instantly triggered me playing the game again. I now try to 100% it on PC (versus on PS3 what I did before) so I can enjoy the online mode with my friends more, and I try to get the maximum amount of money to buy stuff and to invest into the stockmarket, which I also learn to manipulate (ingame, of course). Maybe, MAYBE, if I'm very bored in the next months, I will sit down and make a comprehensive guide on how to 100% the game and how to get the best money etc.

i know these videos are years old at this point and you (obviously) know what you are doing, but i wanna say i think yer "casual player" play is pretty spot on. it's always going to be better/worse than SOMEONE, but i think you've nailed it. opening the map for a waypoint, following the yellow/purple line, crashing, checking out clothes, doing exactly what the game tells/wants you to do...these are all things the average non-speedrun-player is going to do. ESPECIALLY if it's someone who hasn't played through the game many many times (which i'm not entirely sure is something the average person does). these videos are great and even if i'm just some non speedrunning chump, i'm definitely gonna try some of this stuff out just for fun on my nearly endless replays of this game.
@FriendlyBaron2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I explained this on stream once, but back when i first made these, i would often get comments like "your casual player is too bad!" and "your casual player is too good!", and i think getting both kinda guided me into finding the perfect middle. Another great episode. Hard to stop watching once it gets going. I tend to watch the speed run screen the whole time but do glance over to casual from time to time (especially if it is pointed out for any reason) and at one point i looked over to see the casual jumping around on the roof only to crack his head against the wall on a jump splattering brain matter on the side of it. Made me chuckle. I think one funny idea would be to have the casual every now and then doing some weird or bizarre funny action like blowing away some pedestrian or purposefully knocking coffee/phones out of their hands or bowling them over again and again just by running into them. Shit like that or prat falling into things just to see what it does. Provided it doesn't wreck the time too much. All without actually drawing any attention to these small actions and just seeing if someone catches it cuz i feel like most watch the speed side more often like i do. Hell maybe you've already done things like this and I just haven't noticed haha.

You forget the casual player's (like me) shenanigans between the missions like messing around with NPCs, seeing which buildings I can enter, overhear conversations or do other random stuff!
@FriendlyBaron5 жыл бұрын
I mean, i could do that yeah, but it just wouldn't make the video very watchable ya know?
@sugandhakohli5 жыл бұрын
@@FriendlyBaron lol yeah, I was kidding there. Imagine you putting up a casual play video with all the things and the mission ends after 6 hours when the whole speedrun is over. Lmao

Just recently watched my first gta v speedrun, casual%, and I immediately found it be one of my fav games to watch run this video and series is dope AF keep it up. You give really good insight about times saves and tricks used in the run.

Great showing of casual player's style. While playing they pay attention to details such as choosing a nice clothing. They make mistakes, crash into other cars, obstacles etc.

I find it hilarious that as a casual player I've never gotten the 'put on nicer clothing' prompt because I hate the friend request outfit so much that I always change Michael out of it immediately.
@Lozzar2425 жыл бұрын
For the heists I would say a brief explanation of why the option you choose is quicker than the other is fine, e.g. a few lines about "more setup missions, possibility to skip" etc, rather than showing both on the screen. Otherwise there'll be too much difference and pause time and we'll just be watching someone casually play the other heist option. Only showing the speedrun vs casual of the missions you DO choose is better imo. But whatever you end up doing I'll still be watching haha, love the series so far

thats my plan, with maybe an unlisted video of the other heist if i have time
@bigroosterman125 жыл бұрын
I think an adjustment you should make is have the casual take a motorcycle whenever possible. They are more fun to drive and a casual player will most likely crash a few times while using a bike. Until they eventually give up and settle for cars later in the run. Speaking from experience
@FriendlyBaron5 жыл бұрын
i'll think about it! they really dont spawn that often in most areas so may never see one actually.

Well, about the casual playstyle. Imo you're doing fine! My playstyle with campaign games It's basically taking the part of the character. So I usually try to play the role, play like a real person inside the world instead of going crazy with the driving and running. Great series and videos! Congrats for the good work!

I don't really watch speed runs of many games mostly because they lack explanation of why something is happening or just very little commentary at all however this is one of my favorite series because it shows how a brand new player would play versus a seasoned speed runner would play. I think the people complaining have played too much before and forget that they now know how to play versus the handheld rockstar way. Keep up the good work :D

Since my carrier pigeon is on a delivery I'll leave a comment; I'd love to see a video for the other option in each heist with multiple options (assuming it has a route) almost like a bonus episode(s) after this series ends Loving the vids mate, can't wait for more they're super enjoyable. You're improving so much already, it can be difficult reading long segments of text but you're doing a really good job
@FriendlyBaron5 жыл бұрын
thanks! i will highly consider making an unlisted video with the other heists.
