Currently, people want everything to be so damn fast paced it's literally ruining their ability to enjoy anything. Attention spans are decreasing and people just don't want to dedicate something to slow burn anymore. It's like why wait for a perfect gourmet meal when you can get chicken nuggets in 2 minutes on high.

Kids who have only watched extremely fast pace, action packed anime with very one dimensional characters and plots reaction when they watch something well written, flushes out, with a good story and characters.

Frieren is really not slow paced. I would notice, as I have very little time, so I usually stick to 12 ep. anime. It takes its time, yes, but it doesn't waste any, even outside just celebrating the beauty of its world. As a very introverted person, I had an easy time recognizing the many observations and lessons that are packed into the show. I think the main connecting tissue - aside legacy, which is something that is handled so beautifully in the show I got close to tears - is *solitude* - the good as well as its dangers. Struck me even harder, because I came fresh off Watamote and semi-recently Bocchi, which are essentially about loneliness. Kinda glad about the watch-order, as it is a great contrast to reflect on.

It’s sucks that people don’t understand how hard it is for movies and tv shows, is not easy to make and you have to appreciate what they did right then what they did wrong. For a movie like this has very good potential and beautiful cinematography and the lightings. Plus a few anime lovers or anime video game lovers/video game adaptations movies/TV shows.

That's a valid criticism if you don't have a brain. Frieren's pacing is perfect for whatever situation the characters are in. If there's a fight, the fight doesn't drag (they literally can't afford it to drag lol) and if the episode is exploring the importance of relationships it is slow enough to where you can understand the weight of it, but doesn't make you groan. Some people just want to tear down something because people like it which is super annoying NPC behaviour.

I was very skeptical of this anime when I first heard of it. Didn't start watching it until it was already 4-5 weeks running. The first episode had me hooked. Is it a slower paced show? Yes. Is it well written and worth it? Fuck yes!

It's like everyone wants every show to be like One Punch Man, JJK or fucking Solo Leveling and shit like that, slow paced show that focuses on more depths and character progression or development is too much for their brains to handle..

I think for one of those really damaged TikTok victims it would be excruciating to watch a slow paced anime like Frieren. Gives me bit of hope that not all of gen Z seems to be beyond repair at this point since there are a lot who like it.

same people who say this take also watch aimless garbage like jjk or solo leveling but they don't notice the lack of depth when its covered in a gilded layer of sick fights. Hopefully Freiren isn't purposeless, and hopefully it has actual themes and is semi-well written. Idk I haven't watched it. But I do know that 90% of the stuff that comes out is of terrible, storytelling quality, and this one has pretty girls in it so it likely is bad too (because mandalas suck ass at writing often).

I recommend you watch it, and take your time. The anime is so full of small moments that set up, pay off, or recontextualise story elements that you'll miss half of them on a first watch. It really rewards paying attention to the little details. It's also the first adaptation I've seen that adds to the source material in a meaningful way, with detail in the color, background, and animations that elevate the show from a "faithful recreation" of the manga. The source material is already very good, though - it's made by a two-person team where one writes and the other illustrates (but as with most small teams, I'm sure they collaborate more than just handing over scripts to the artist).

i think in recent times people have been getting too used to shows like JJK for longer ones that still has a fair bit of action every episode and if not like that then the usual 12 episodes that rushes through 3/4 arcs with non stop action and tragically bad character growth. honestly Frieren might be the best anime to be released for quite a while. theres a reason it sits top of MAL rn

Frieren is not a shonen anime, it's not GO, GO, GO. It's about the characters, the magic and the world around them, NOT the battles or story progression. But those are still there, it ain't aimless, Frieren has an aim after the first few episodes, teach Fern to be a great mage, teach Stark to be a great warrior (both not by training only, but the experience of adventuring) and for her to learn to cherish human companionship after she realised she missed her chance with Himmel. But even then, if they don't want something that abstract, they are literally going north to find Heaven, they have an actual destination, even if the place has not been proven to exist.

@@-Basti- I stand corrected! But still, it's shonen mostly in name, it does have those characteristic. But compare Jujutsu Kaisen to Frieren and it's just so hard to consider them similar due to the focus being different. Although jjk also places huge importance on the characters, just differently and it's much more hectic.
