this one the 60D, one of the best cameras ive had. i got mine yesterday with a 50mm 1.8 and 17-40L all used for $1400, not bad at all, the camera was $580 refurb its like a brand new one.

@JaredPolin C Mode is basically just a custom mode. You could make it TV, AV or M with specific settings like exposure compensation, picture styles, white balance etc. So instead of going to M/AV/TV mode and manually selecting all the different settings you want via the menu, you just save the frequently used settings, register them to the C mode and you are good to go.

"C" shooting mode - let's you save a "custom" settings in the camera that you can quickly roll back to, e.g. your "studio" setup. Same as the C1,C2,C3 on the 5D+ series or U1,U2 on Nikon D7000.

C-mode is 'custom'. You set all your settings, then go into the menu and basically click 'save', and C mode is those saved settings.

C mode is custom mode. it means you can change what the camera does. All the buttons you talked about here can be changed in this mode...the slider mode can then be chaged around so the shutter priority switch can be changed from the front to the back slider --for those that don't like where it is located. I'm a pentax user and they call this feature User. Its sort of changing the factory setting of the camera to suit the way the user wants it. hopefully you understood this. cheers

I've been shooting for years off and on.... a 60D is one helluva starter camera, it is Canon's highest non full-frame offering.

Nominally.... to the naked eye the video differences are more dependent on skill and glass I find..... The 7D is no better on video, but does have better focus abilities, and the 70D of course just replaced the 60D so it had better be better I might get one of those for the AF possibilities :)

for image/video quality the 60d/70d/7d are practically the same give or take the slightest difference. But given the type of person in the market for this sort of camera is really going to be fussed, they will most likely not even notice a difference! The 70d with the sigma 18-35mm is an unbeatable combo the auto focus during video is incredible most definitely worth the upgrade. :)

@JaredPolin C mode is a user mode... it means you can program all the settings to what ever you want and quickly go to them. example: if your at a concert or something and the lights make a big change you can quickly go to this C mode and not have to try to quickly change ISO, or aperture.

@JaredPolin C mode is actually a Custom Mode you can define so it is easier to have your settings ready to shoot. What I understood: it is P mode where you can define your custom settings including if shooting RAW/JPEG and so on. You can even change button layout for this mode individually... But I never used it so far.

@JaredPolin as far as I know the C stands for custom mode. So you can set it to be the way you like. You can for example pre set that mode for certain light or make it a second Av mode or something.

I didnt read all comments, so I dont know if someone said anything about AF-On. I think it is a nice thing if u dont want to measure focus and light for every shot u can lock it by pressing AF-ON and than just focus on framing. I dont use it often, but it can come handy when u need it.

The 60D is larger and heavier than the T2i but smaller and lighter than the 7D. It is a very nice size, weight, feel, and design that should be comfortable for most users. I got it on: #amzn.to/1c5b7js

@MsClockSpeed if you cant afford the 60D try he T2i / 550D. Its a great camera as well. Doesnt have the rotating screen but does full 1080p video and the 18M images like the 60D. 60D is more pro-sumer level but the T2i has most of the features as the 7D and 60D built in. Then you can upgrade later when you can afford it.

'C' mode is custom mode. It's where you access your saved favourite shooting mode settings from other shoot modes, like Tv, P, and Av after you've saved your settings, I believe.

Nice walk-through Jared. The vari-angle screen also comes in real handy when you use it to film yourself, like a KZbin video. Makes it easy to see if everything is in focus and to see if what you want in the frame is in the frame. I hope you have time to really put the 60D through it 's paces, and give your opinion on whether this is a good entry level camera.

@JaredPolin Hey Jared. I believe the C mode is a custom manual mode for the camera. I don't have the 60d but I have the 550d or Rebel T2i as its known here in the states. It has a C1 and C2 mode which saves your camera settings such as white bal. and my Exposure/Aperture. According to online sources they say that that C mode in the 60d is the same thing. This is the most expensive camera I've own so far. Good photos but a lot of times I get outcome that I don't like. For example if I take a picture of 2 person, one person is clear and the other is blur. I like using the Auto without flash because the photo is comes out nicer in colour. Any tip?

As a former Canon shooter, I know what the C-mode is. It is something like the Custom setting bank in the Nikon D3s I have now. The Canon 40D I had before had the Modes C1-C3 where I could save various settings for different shooting situations.

@boyraai I had the same problem. The issue was with the memory card. I was using an 8gb class 4 card, which basically can't take the data fast enough. I switched to a class 10 card and it works a treat. Basically, you need as fast a memory card as you can get!

@officiallyEPIC1998 Actually he is correct. in 60D you have to press the live view button to start recording in video mode. if you press the regular shutter button it only takes a still picture..

@sunnyscoots You know that f-number? That's how wide the opening of the lens is, controlling how much light is let in through the lens and the depth of the bokeh in a background. The lower the aperture number, the wider open the lens is, and vice versa.

C mode is custom exposure mode. You can set your settings to what you what then register them to C. That way you can quickly go back those settings when you select the C mode.

Star button locks the exposure, say if you're doing a panorama using high-speed shutter and you don't want the exposure to change as you take a number of pictures.
