The rule at my shop is that someone has to be there for 2 hours from the time of the last spark or ark, tig welding is the exception which is 20 minutes. I only have 5 employees but they all know they do not leave until the closing checklist is completed each day. I also have fireproof oily waste cans that are just for rags and all rags must be in the containers before the checklist is complete. I check the cameras to see if they are following the checklists. I am a pilot and flight instructor and aviation revolves around checklists as they are the most effective way for humans to properly complete procedures and tasks.

As a retired firefighter for the City of Calgary, I would like to suggest that you have the owners of buses mount their fire extinguishers on the level. A horizontal mounting will help if they ever have to use an extinguisher because the first thing you do is thump the extinguisher on the ground when you pull the pin. The thump on the ground will loosen the powder and it will work. If mounted up right, the dry chem compacts with up and down motion and in a lot of cases they don't work. Hope this helps.
@ShaneSwartz-l1x2 күн бұрын
What do you want to bet that 75% or more of the fire extinguishers in these buses won't work in an emergency. The vast majority of the population is under the assumption that you buy a brand new fire extinguisher and it will last forever as long as it has not been discharged. Unless someone owns a business requiring annual fire inspections or works in the fire protection industry they have no clue that fire extinguishers must be serviced annually. I have my fire extinguishers serviced biannually for piece of mind. Fire code only requires me to have 3 5lb abc fire extinguishers and I have 4 10lb and 2 20lb abc extinguishers along with 4 20lb c02 extinguishers and 2 20lb class D extinguishers. It does not matter if its fire code, plumbing code, electrical code or any other code because that is minimum code which is the minimum requirement to pass. Why don't they list minimum code, preferred or suggested code and maximum code.
@wazza33racerКүн бұрын
yes that is correct, same with fire extinguishers on fuel tankers, mounted upright, removed every 6 months and checked for settling or thumped on ground to remedy. If thumping doesnt work, they go out for replacement.

Any welding extinguishers must be on site and then after job finishes for the first two hours an inspection had to be done every 15 minutes to observe for any smoke or fire. Towing.... A wheel or axel lift, such as the one shown, is the only method to avoid damage to front structures. I think many Wanderlodge with a front mounted generator, has its lower frame bent upwards from previous tows. And that causes damage/binding to slide out. Appears this one has also. On GM and MCI they screw up spare tire carrier, etc and sometimes even break off entire front bumper as things give way. If you fool with bus conversions you really need to be vigilant in the case of a tow. Ask about method of lifting and get on the ground to confirm with your own eyes. You have to insist regardless of what 'towing expert' says

Having seen Andrew Camarata's video of losing his $150,000 excavator for want of a decent fire extinguisher [and he was seriously under insured so only got a $25,000 payout], I've supplemented all my vehicle and building fire extinguishers with fire safety stick fire extinguishers. It hasn't been a cheap exercise as the larger of the two versions is the equivalent of US$130 here in the UK, but they don't need servicing and have a shelf life of over 10 years. More importantly though, the big fire stick operates for 100 seconds which is way longer than normal extinguishers and gives you a much better chance of knocking down a blaze. And, yes, I bought several smaller ones and we had a practice fire drill with them! $1,000 effectively went up in smoke but my staff now have confidence in them. My local fire brigade, who came to the drill with the local fire stick agent, now also have one in the their fire engine which they paid for! I hope you won't mind me posting this video of the effectiveness of the fire stick in real life circumstances [and I haveno connection with the maker by the way]: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYDIdomfnax0d5Y

Three weeks later the were no insulated wires in his engine compartment. The dry chemical ate, (corroded), all the insulation off the wiring. I do not have any life experiences with spray foam.
