I had my left hip replaced 10/31/2023. My surgeon (Dr. Duke Hasson) used the Stryker robot for assistance during the surgery. One thing he told me prior to surgery was that I had a leg length discrepancy - which was a surprise to me - but made sense. They corrected that. I had done a lot of running in the local mountains (So Cal) so I'm sure that was a contributing factor. I was walking without assistance the night of my surgery. I coordinated my return to exercise with my doctor and followed his advice. BTW, he said he cut (and presumably reattached) one of the ligaments in my hip. I am now riding my bike 160 miles/week which I got to gradually. I also do (among other things) asymmetric side planks that initially seemed pretty scary but are working fine. With the robot, the incision lay completely below the fold of my hip so I didn't have to worry about bending my hip (and reopening the incision) as much while the incision healed. My daughter subsequently gave me a water bottle which advertises a doctor who regrows cartilage. Might that be another option? I can't say. I had some unexpected benefits. For pretty much my entire life I had a tendency to walk a little bent forward. That has been fixed somehow although I have to avoid reverting to old habits. The foot on that side now lands correctly, probably due to correcting the leg length discrepancy but I need to remind myself to place my heel correctly (out) on that side. They took a CAT scan in advance to inform the robot and which enabled them to detect the leg length discrepancy. I'm very much satisfied with the results.

So good to see you again! Sorry you have been having so much pain. Looking forward to having you back after recovery.❤ Your videos have made a huge impact on my life. I have never been able to connect the dots when it comes to nutrition and exercise. I’ve been able to lose weight, but always gained it back plus. With your coaching I am actually losing weight with the confidence that I can maintain and even put on more muscle. Thank you!❤

Wow, I'm subscribed, but I was looking for a video about packing your shoulder and find yours and then wondered are you posting recently because I've not seen anything pop up in there I see this part one replacement story. Well done you approach this so well and I'm super impressed. Super kudos to you.

Susan ,I wish you all the very best with your recovery from surgery, really enjoy the channel, you have a great physique, any chance of letting me know what your upper body ,lower body split work out routine was?. Anyway I have relatives who have had serious hip pain and it is dibilitating, and yes it effects your sleep pattern as you have found. Best wishes.

You dont think that by continuing to workout lower body while your hip was so sore made things worse prior to surgery?
@susanniebergallfitness1387 ай бұрын
How could I make it worse? They were taking it out. The muscles around it were strong

You need to look into using natural medicine instead of getting hip replacement surgery. Check into Anna's Wild Yam cream and it's benefits. Also, turmeric. There's so much more to discover, try it!

I’m sorry, but you don’t really know much about arthritis. “Wild Yam Cream” isn’t going to cure arthritis lol
Thank you very much Susan, for sharing your experience (you pointed me to this video from IG). I've been referred for a hip replacement but I don't have a surgery date yet. I've been afraid to do anything beyond what my physiotherapist gives me because I am afraid I'll blow out my hip completely before I get to a surgery date. I'm in a lot of pain already - I can't walk or sleep without pain (bone cysts, bone spurs, advanced degeneration). But I believe I need to do what you did. No doubt about it. How did you get past the pain to do those exercises? Regardless, I need to set up a dedicated lifting routine to keep my head in the game. I've let myself go to crap with this injury.
