Can you imagine what it is like to Captain a 747 for long hours, the concentration it takes, staying alert and awake. And then that evening get on stage and do a 2 hour set. For month after month. The man has the fitness, drive and stamina of no one else on Earth. Truly legendary.

Yes and no as he has two other pilots so they take breaks and modern aircraft fly auto pilot 90% of the time. Solo piloting small aircraft is very demanding. Your praise for Bruce us noble but he's not some superman he's just had time to work with personal trainers and dieticians.
@MrBillUp3 жыл бұрын
@@glennoc8585 He has his own FO and another complete backup crew as do all long haul flights. And depending on what plane, an engineer. Of course he is not flying the plane constantly. And to say you just kick your shoes off when the Autopilot is on is disingenuous. It still takes huge amounts of concentration to monitor the gauges, flight plan, fuel flow, distractions from the rear, sterile cockpit below 10,000 feet. You have to be 100% on the ball the whole time. So yes he isn't flying the plane constantly, and I would have thought if he has a 2 hour show on consecutive days, the relief crew take over. I know he is not "superhuman", but to fly a very complicated aircraft like an older 747-400, and then to do a 2 hour set, jumping and running around on stage as he does, well he is unbelievably fit, strong willed, well trained, and legendary. If you were to say to me, tell me someone who you think is superhuman, I would say Bruce is a great example.
@glennoc85853 жыл бұрын
@@MrBillUp Not playing it down but the 747 that he was flying would have had the full instrument upgrade. I would've thought he'd have had a captain as copilot with their budget and an FO for change over. I'd be surprised if Bruce would do a show after being PIC on a long haul without a nights sleep. He was fitter back then he doesn't fly the heavies i believe he just flies on a ppl these days.

He's driven and successful but I've met quite a few guys like Bruce over the years. Being in a band have Bruce the financial means to go on to other things and expensive pursuits. I know a guy that is s businessman, pilot of helicopters and fixed wing and also plays in a cover band. Sure not the fame and fortune of Bruce but still a rich guy. It's doable if you're driven and get a good start from an early age.

I saw a lot of concerts in the 80's. A LOT. I was just telling a friend the other day, that one thing about Iron Maiden was that YOU KNEW, when they came out on stage, they brought everything they had. You never felt like a show was routine with them. They always brought a ton of energy and they always looked like they were having fun, and we, the fans, were certainly having fun and everything they did, we showed up for it. What ever Bruce has to say, I'm here to listen.
