Journal Entry 4: Oh, now they're just taking the bloody piss! A wooden submarine. A. Wooden. Submarine. Not even the mad Pirate Green-Beard would have dreamed up such an unholy abomination! The Lightning Hoods have accepted me as an officer in their navy, and I'm told I'll be receiving command of a ship soon. Oddly, they refused to promote me beyond Lieutenant. Something about already having printed the name-card... Still, I'll have a command, so I'm not too bothered. The first confrontation between the 'Hoods and the 'Legion didn't go perfectly for us. We did a lot of damage, but they inflicted heavy losses on us too. That was only our first fleet. There will be more soon, and in greater numbers. Still, I'm concerned. On the surface, the 'Hoods should easily be able to take out these Lathrixian invaders. Yet that's what I thought not so long ago about the Guard, and they proved to be more than a match for us. Journal entry 12: The tales told by this crazed man were true. Already taking a tile of the Lightning Hoods territory and inflicting a heavy blow to the tech priests. Apparently his forces are only comprised of wooden vessels, which makes me think he took a lesson or two from the Deep Water Guard. I don't know what to say about this. Even though the Khaz and him are allied to the end, he may very well hurt our only trade companions and as such would impact our economy. The Watch is divided right now. As for me, I have to do my job of helping out our "only" friends. "Milla Longrow", Onyx Watch intelligence.

This is General Bobby of the Lightning Hoods. Reports from the west say that one of our strong fleets was taken out by ships mad entirely of WOOD. I don't understand. Our lasers should have cut through the wood like lasers cut through wood (am I right?), but they swarmed us so much that even the best ships in that fleet got destroyed. Thankfully, this helps explain the sudden disappearance of the Deepwater Guard pirates that ruled the lands to the west a few days ago. It makes sense that the wood ships got rid of the Deepwater pirates, but now they are destroying our metal laser ships! Reports show that they are heading to our fortress in the southwestern part of Orhurst. But thankfully, they should be disintegrated once they reach the heart of our territory. We can only hope we won't suffer the same fate as the Deepwater Guard... This is General Bobby of the Lightning Hoods, singing out.

Because there is another ship named "Diode", then this faction has an electronics theme and Ohm is a representation of electrical resistance. Lathrix I should just mention that shields are extremely useless for submarines, since the enemies shell slows so much it will go through anyways. Faster shell = better chance to deflect / Slower shell = less change to deflect

I know it breaks the theme you have going for now, and looks ugly to boot, but stone is pretty cheap. Weighs more and isn't buoyant which you'd want for a sub, is only twice the cost of wood, and is much tougher than wood. You could try painting it to hide the awful texture. Regarding laser warners, they do need direct sight out of the vehicle to function just like munition warners, but the direction they're facing doesn't matter so long as a laser strike happens within 20m of the warner. Anyway, LH has been about the most stable faction with updates as far as I can tell. I'm personally unsure how much new tech has been added to them, such as the wavefront adjuster or PACs. I know of one LH design that uses a railgun, and that is about it for their use of cannons, as the only kinetic weapon they use extensively are missiles. Proposed changes for 2.0 will rework the wavefront adjuster and give it the power to reduce water mitigation for lasers, but that's a ways off so I feel no regret throwing LH out as a target for now.

as soon as we destroyed the deep water guard we were given orders to repair and get the fleet ready to fight the lightning hoods. honestly, I think we should just get metal on some ships and then set out. some of the troops have caught wind of a survivor of some of the attacks. some are asking questions and saying we should try and kill him so he couldn't spread news of our weapons. I remember that on the ship I was commanding the mallals will we dropped some blueprints and the men were after getting worried that a survivor might have gotten it. the lightning hoods might be our greatest challenge in a hundred years. honestly, I've always wondered how lathrix has lived that long. some say he's a child of the gods we worship, others say he makes rituals. anyways, can't think about that now, gotta get some rest for the upcoming battle. -signing out, Lieutenant George.

I would love to see more wooden ships, which use Cannons only. It makes the fights way more interesting, because there is the very real chance of just completly losing a ship, it also challenges you more, improving your designs and making you build something unusual for your style and therefore making it really interesting.

Vehicle Logs: "Ammo Barrel" Light Submarine This thing's ability to submerge while being made primarily out of wood gives it a legendary status. Armed with torpedo batteries, four VLS (Vertical Launch System) missile strips, two with 13 cells and two with 12 cells, and two gatling cannons, this thing can cause some serious damage. What gives the Ammo Barrel its name is its extreme amount of ammo storages for its volume required for the VLS strips, torpedoes, cannons, and its unique detection system. Its detection system releases two radar pods that have one regulator and one radar buoy each. It also has several laser warners and smoke dispensers, because lasers do not like wood. It also has lots of reflector shields to counter Advanced Projectile Systems, even some on the gatling cannons. And don't think I forgot the thing is a giant submerged bomb, and a pretty sensitive one at that. _"Blocking out the Sun while almost unable to hit."_

This would likely win, albeit a pyrrhic victory. The cannons fire extremely quick shells in rapid succession, meaning that by the time the Blargle's torpedoes hit, the Blargle itself will already likely be dead. The torpedo volley may still destroy the Ammo Barrel after the Blargle has been destroyed, but that is not set in stone.

I started a campaign a couple of weeks ago & that tile was full of the most completely nasty & irritating LH stuff - won't spoil anything in case you run into some later. You managed to avoid all the worst DWG airships ( maybe fight them on camera in the designer at some point? ) perhaps you'll get away with that too :P Those weren't the easiest ships though, so congrats for beating that lot with a budget collection of wood! that's more than I could do for sure. You could allow yourself some lead for the subs, it's not really going to bump the price up. Didn't see what detection you had but laser designators work underwater.

I will show you a ship that's made out of metal that acts like a really expensive ammo barrel one made by me with very heavy hitting cannons and well it's a walking time bomb. One hit to a certain spot on the ship the ammo on the ship goes away in one go. So one hit equals bye bye ship and death is coming soon because with that explosion it dies apparently. My friend who helped me with it but lost the turret caps that he made by not saving it. He said that one hit and it died after the explosion that's why he lost the turret caps because he was testing it and forgot to save. Lol

I've just had the idea to do a campaign using only sails and cannons, without using anything electronic or mechanical, basically. Like you're just a pirate, with wooden sailing ships, no engines. Just sails. You can put any weapons you want on your ship except stuff using electricity like lasers.

Okay Lathland look, your using a wooden boat which doesn't cost a lot of money but It has much more potential then you think.If you look at the sub from 3;39 (minutes in the video) you could convert that into an engine room making the craft smaller, lighter, faster and a lot more of a harder target to shoot. Also if you get rid of the missiles you could add a bit more Armour around the sub making it much more effective against other subs and aircraft bombers.

AS you're building that gun... 1200 RPM is about half the projectile cap. That means that if you face a clone of that sub you'll be seeing some shell despawn. Also means it's unadvised to use two against anything with cannons.

Entry Log-1 1stLt Lagred(Ret) Previously after witnessing the complete obliteration of the Deepwater guard I went to join the Lightning Hoods, of which I soon learned was grave mistake as the same wooden ships I had seen before rolled in once again. I have seen enemies like this before but none truly pounding fear like this. Watching these airships blow ships straight out of the water and other airships out of the sky have shown me true fear. I have even gone so far as to find survivers, from the ships that have been obliterated, and finding none. For those reading this my advice to you is simple: Run. Hey Lathrix, wouldnt it be good to add some of the lead beams to the bottom? Then your props and hydrofoils wouldnt get oversaturated once the engines give out. You need a lot less control surfaces if your craft is of neutral bouyancy too.

If you think that is hard, Try a light alloy submarine! also i found theres no need for heliblades, I used heli blades in mine so i idnt have to use forward propellers so that it was much more stealthy

Lathrix, can you do a scavenger only play through except for two of your own ships next season or campaign and you can modify the ships you capture a little bit

To make your sub go down faster you should put lead blocks on your ship.
