Journal Entry 6: The war goes on. So do the surprises. Numbers have always been the strength of the Legion, overwhelming their enemies with well-designed but poorly armored craft. But this past week, they introduced a new and terrifying airship that's more like an Eyrie than an Atlas. This bodes poorly for the ongoing efforts to beat them. I suppose this was inevitable. They had to tech up eventually, and this new airborne battleship continues their superior firepower doctrine. Like everything else, it's not invulnerable, but good luck outliving it... Other than that, it's been pretty quiet. They've continued their conquest of the White Flayers, but they've generally left everyone else alone (at least for now). It won't last, though. History will repeat itself. Lathrix's thirst for blood is unquenchable, and there will be no peace on Neter until his Legion is dead, or everyone else is. Even those who surrender aren't safe. A Zealot that surrendered a few months ago had their ship scrapped for parts, and were then sacrificed to the blood god... Overall, things are going to get worse before they get better. Godspeed. Might as well do a journal entry I have quite a good idea :) The newest vehicle in the Lathrixian legion is not wood, but metal. The legions are progressing in technology faster than the high priest thought. So the high priest sent me, the Admiral of the White Flayers on the Perforator. His flagship, to reinforce the area in front of his legion. When they attacked we waited as a stolen lightning hood vessel destroyed our smaller craft before using the Perforator, it seems like Lathrix had the same idea withdrawing the vessel as soon as the Perforator deployed and in return Lathrix deployed the newest ship, the Blood Thirster. The initial volley of the Blood Thirster smashed through the hull. But then our main cannon turned and started shooting. Laying a continuous stream of fragments into the Blood Thirster, our flak cannons also opening fire at the Blood Thirster doing a small amount of damage. The world quaked as thousands of shells smashed into hulls on both sides, but the Perforator endured much more than the Blood Thirster. And finally the Airship fell into the water. We took no surrender and did not stop firing as the Blood Thirster sank deeper and deeper until it's AI overloaded and self destructed. As a last ditch effort Lathrix sent a stolen spike at our forces which met a quick end at the hands of our cannons. Today the High Priest heard of our news and showered us with praise coming directly from the Flayed God. Today we know that the Flayed God is stronger than the Blood God. Today we know that the Flayed God is always with us. FOR THE FLAYED GOD!!! Smitty44 signing out.

This is General Bobby of the White Flayers. It appears that in my last entry, I forgot to mention that the Legion had captured one of our towns, and their inhabitants were sacrificed for this Khorne god. Personally, I think that the White Flayers' house designs look like wookies, but nothing the less he has brutally slaughtered them, only leaving one church intact. Even the surrendered Zealot got sacrificed, despite the fact he surrendered. We also got word that Lathrix has made a new airship design, one that was made from the scraps of our ships and metal and CRAM cannons supplied to them by their allies, the Onyx Watch. He also captured one of our Spikes and put it atop this airship to do his bidding! Then, he went to slaughter some of our larger fleets. Thankfully, our Perforator made good work of The Legions fleet, but somehow, Lathrix survived... again. He continues to push to the east, which makes me assume that the Grey Talons are his next target. We know that he is afraid of them, so I should work towards getting an occupation within the Talons pretty soon, and because of two reasons. One, because I dislike the Flayers, and two, because I want to kill Lathrix and see the light in his eyes. Other than this, it has been a pretty quiet day, other than the fact we are quickly losing ground to the Legion. But I still want to see Lathrix obliterated. He must die, if peace shall come upon Neter, and he must die soon, because now, the entire planet is at unrest... This is General Bobby of the White Flayers, signing off.

So, I think that you could really benefit from having that mouth cannon be replaced with a laser cannon, which could also fuel a laser-based anti-missile system. The side-mounted CRAM cannons however... railguns. Railguns. That flat top-section could do with having some AA for those faster opponents, and extra broadside ability as well. Also since you would optimally be having the craft facing the enemy, I would say you should armor up the front a bit more. Some extra Heavy Armor blocks would really help in my honest opinion. Maybe toss in some RTGs to save on space and get in some extra energy for that previously stated laser system as well.

I think this aircraft, aesthetically, is my favorite build of yours. I really like the blockier, less busy designs and this one is just perfect. You mentioned the orc-ey feel of it - I love that! I just had a sudden idea. A tank that drives on the ocean floor. It's not something super special, but it would be pretty interesting and it would be extremely hard to take out due to the depth it resides at. It would also have access to the bottom of the ships where the armor is often the thinnest.

Lathrix, your lightly armored vehicles will fall extremely quickly when against late game enemies. They have space squids with lasers capable of cutting through 10 layers of heavy armor within 2 seconds.

As an awesome challenge, you should make a capital ship that utilizes every type of weapon system. So it would have cram cannons, missiles, advanced cannons, laser turrets/middle defense system, and particle cannons. It would be huge, expensive, and pure awesome. For the blood god!

You need a broadside on the Bloodthirster right Lathrix? rip out the side cram cannons and create either a large amount of advance or cram cannons on both sides, every unit would be small with a slowish rate of fire but dealing massive damage per shot. Then perhaps a few small rapid fire cannons on the top to deal with air and lightly armoured naval threats, or perhaps finding as way to counter the shields of an enemy craft. Maybe mixing in shield disruption shells just a bit in every cannon could do the trick or just simply put it all into one and hope for the best.

You could probably cover a lot of the bloodthirster's weaknesses by launching a number of small screening craft to cover it, or by having it work in tandem with other airships.

You can make the airship a carrier too, and put a medium sized flyer or 2 small fliers with it at all times, and it'll be a 'Carrier/airship taskforce'.

Turn those forward CRAMS into slow firing rail guns! That should add a lot of initial punch to your alpha-strike and allow you to punch through the enemies shields before your other rounds arrive, leaving the enemy hull undefended.

The early target changing is probably due to that the enemy is the same ship twice, therefore the main variance would be block count. As one takes damage the other get a higher score due to the loss of score from the first targeted.

I actually like the top of that. 3:07 - Lathrix hasn't done much in the way of small, fast fighter craft. upgrading to four or so vehicle holders and make a compact buzzkill to torment the enemies with could really give this new ship a great feel. 5:00 - Isn't it annoying that every gun fires at the exact same point? 7:00 - Isn't a Church of the Blood God basically synonymous with arena? I mean, a church is just a place of worship, right? So just grab any old coliseum or pit and make people fight in it. Instant church of Khorne. 7:08 Mallal: "I will not stay locked within the Retconnium forever cur!" 25:20 - Lasers > Cram Cannons. Lasers are red. Like blood. Also the Crammons' only positive is the looks, but I bet they can be outdone even there.

A 500mm shell only has 2 shells in a clip, so you can have a 500mm AC with belt felt (you only get a shell head and GP casing) that fires very quickly and never has down time if you have a decent number of clips and reloaders on the clips.

The optimal design for airships, in watercraft the goal is to get as much area exposed as possible as there isn't much area and most of it has guns attached, in aircraft its best to align in a way that minimizes area but maximizes weapons able to hit the target and maneuverability, helicopters don't broadside unless they're on a tour or about to explode, only the ac-130 gets to broadside

Finally ran into one of the nasties :) the Perforator has to be one of nastier offensive-wise in the whole campaign & I'm still very cautious fighting one - they eat through layered shields on my fleet craft quite happily. I think it uses i-frag since the signature ships got tweaked a while ago. Fortunately it's highly explosive so if you can survive enough to get a few hits in the right place it's done for. Would really like an ork themed campaign, it'd fit *so* well.

Thought I'd go way back and see how things have changed since the early FtD videos, and wow. Series 1 EP1: Sanctuary Base and Haven resource ship Now: Blood for the blood god I like the change, it felt odd after watching the last few series. 😂

Just wanna throw out there that if you make a .2 delay for your swarm missiles it takes 20 missiles per missile block to have a continuous stream. Even small missiles with laser riders and target prioritization can take down godly craft in 2 mins or less at that rate
