Couple of questions Captain Gabrielle... 1. You say " once you're out of wind-shear"... but how do we know WHEN we're out of one?. Suppose the windshear is due to a microburst,is the transition to go around from wind shear escape to take place when the aural alerts stop?, is it after covering a distance which is approximately the average radius of a microburst in nautical miles?... is it left to Captain's discretion? 2. Is it mandatory to perform a go-around in the case of a wind shear warning? 3. Having made the decision to go around is it also necessary to pull up the yoke/side stick till stick- shaker /maximum angle of attack along with adding TOGA power as the CAE ATPL textbook says?

1. Once you no longer experience the signs of windshear. Most common way to know that is you are no longer seeing the WINDSHEAR alert messages on your PFD/ND or seeing the effects of the windshear on your airspeed, VSI, pitch and throttle positions. 2. When you encounter windshear on approach, you should carry out the escape maneuver but it is pilot discretion. It depends on, once you have received the windshear warning, how the aircraft is behaving before deciding whether to perform the escape maneuver or just a standard go around. 3. If it's a standard go around - no. You execute the go around according to your company SOP. If it is an escape maneuver, then it's pitch up to 15 deg and if required, you can pitch to intermittent stick shaker (only if terrain is a factor) but always remain below the PLIs.

@@joshilini2 I believe what he meant in the 3rd question was doing the windshear recovery or ws. excape maneuver , not the standard go around . Because it is exactly the answer of a question in ATPL exams about windshear escape ... thank you for the detailed answers . 👍
