Quote of the day: "I like things just on the cusp of looking like, maybe, 'nobody lives here'." As much as I admire a formal garden, I am always drawn to natural looking, pollinator friendly gardens...so much more interesting and inspiring.
@snu38772 жыл бұрын
I laughed out loud when Erin said that! Her style really is so much like my style... if only I had more energy, my garden would look better. But even so, I love its wildness, and I love tall plants leaning over each other like drunks at the race track. I have ONE dahlia that I planted late in my CT garden... it is now a race against time to see if it blooms before frost. I also have my fingers crossed that my heavenly blue morning glory will bloom before frost as well.

I absolutely love that you plant everything in the landscape and not in rows, that is totally my style. I also love those happy accidents when things pop up from self-seeding from previous years. Thanks for sharing your garden, it is simply charming. 💜

You are so close to 100k. You need someone to do a shoutout to push you over. I live in Indianapolis. My dahlias didn’t do well at all. I don’t think I will grow them again. But yours are beautiful, as is your whole garden.
@SteveL20122 жыл бұрын
This isn’t even in the same universe of “nobody lives here.” The plant choice and care shine throughout. The thing that sets your garden apart is the use of unique plants, a lovely horticultural aspect and beautiful mixes. Anyone can plant 1000 proven winners varieties, but the whole can be somehow less than the sum of its parts. Your garden is a botanical dream by contrast. Master gardener’s garden. 💕❤️💕
@snu38772 жыл бұрын
I agree. I pretty much gave up on garden tours b/c you see the same plants again and again, garden after garden... that, and it also became a game of "how much taste do you have in picking out a garden designer," as opposed to seeing gardens that the homeowners dreamed up themselves.

This was a beautiful tour. I watched it twice to make sure I absorbed as much as I could. Loved the "like nobody lives here" comment! My Grandmother's garden looked like that and I loved hers too. As a small child, I could find little hiding places in her bushes and flowers. It was great! Thanks so much for the tour. Your garden is so pretty.

I think that’s why I love, love your garden so much is the wild aspect of it. Along with beautiful array color choices the way it flows. The conifers, dahlias, hydrangeas and so much more mixed together is so cool! I think orderly gardens are nice but definitely not for me either. Maybe that’s being a country girl just love for natural wildlife. And I made my gardens wild for a privacy issue from neighbors, lol. I’d have to watch your tour last season, I almost think this year is even prettier if that’s even possible. I always get amazing inspiration from your tours. Thank you for doing the hard work getting these videos out to us. So much appreciated it Erin. Take care. 😘💕🌻

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL garden. Such interesting plants (not only the dahlias) as well as great combos of colors and textures. I marvel at your dedication with dahlias and other tender plants. I'm so spoiled. I grew up in Wisconsin, but have lived in California for the last 45 years. I cannot imagine making the effort of having to dig up plants to keep them from freezing in the winter, labeling them, storing them, then having to plant them again the following spring only to repeat the whole process a few months later. You are truly amazing! Thank you for sharing your garden. It's a delight!

So many beautiful dahlias! I have exactly one, in a container. The others didn't make it. Also, I was too afraid to put them into the ground, because of all the squirrels and bunnies. May be I'm not cut out for it anyway, but I did really enjoy watching that one plant grow and bloom.

My dahlia , now 4 ft tall, in 16” terra cotta planter supported by tomato cage, grew so well. I planted directly outside .😊The ones I planted in the ground did not make it. I also noticed that the dahlia in the pot did not have nearly as many earwigs as the one I planted in the ground last year.

@@eileenchang2173 That's good to know! The one I have in my container is a shorter variety called Gallery Art Deco, I really love it. I will try to split it next year and grow in containers again. Hopefully it will make it over the Winter, never done that either.
