Thanks for this video, I bought my 2006 Acura around 4 months ago, I am 60 years old and learning everything about this car. Believe it or not this is my first car I ever owned. Didn’t know this video existed, I think I can replace these gas struts myself. The hood has fell on my sister 3 times. I thought it would cost hundreds to fix with labor and parts. I see that is totally different. Just came across this video on UTUBE, thank goodness. I am on disability and don’t make a lot. If you are Craig, I thank you for doing this for women like me!!😊

Thanks to your video, today I changed my 2003 MDX hood struts. My local Acura dealer quoted me $110 for labor alone. With your detailed instructions, it literally took me about one minute on each side. Thanks!

So frustrating, no type of competition amongst the car repair industry. Like 110 for that labor? Get real

I agree with a previous poster's comment; this was awesome! Watched this video once and then went and swapped out the struts on my 2009 Acura MDX in no time flat. In fact, it took me longer to retrieve my screwdriver that I dropped than it did to replace the struts. Thank you!!!

Super simple repair! Shop wanted to charge me 65 each strut(130), absurd! Bought a reputable set of two on Amazon for 25 bucks! 2009 TL, love it!

I found that on some new hood struts, you do not have to retract the snap rings. They are made to install by just pushing them onto the frame mounting ball - only pushing pressure is required for installation. I made the mistake of trying to partially pull the retaining clips on the new struts back and they rotated in their plastic head mount. It was a pain in the ass trying to reposition them back into proper position, as they are very rigid. Read the instructions, as many models just snap into position.

I have a Nissan Maxima with the same style sturts for the hood, this video is very helpful on how to replace a very important component that holds the hood open. Where did you buy the sturts?
@wobblysauce6 жыл бұрын
anywhere, does not need to be for the model also, just need the length extended, compressed and pressure.
