Very articulate and detailed analysis of Putin and his motivations. This is essential for trying to find a solution to the dreadful situation we are now all in. It is a pity that US commentators give little analysis, specifically geopolitical long term analysis, of European potentialities and failures. In 1950, Robert Schuman, the European initiator of NATO and founder of the European Community, spoke of his grand democratic design that started with reconciliation with Germany (that hardly ever knew democracy) and much more, an economic rebirth never seen before in history. In 1950s he saw that the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) would be able to join in a revived, peaceful European Community. As for the USSR, he said in the mid-1950s that the Soviet Union would fail before the end of the century. So it did. "We must be ready' he said, for that event. Sure enough the countries of Eastern and Central Europe were able to join. As for Russia and Ukraine, they joined the Council of Europe and agreed to the application of international law of the Human Rights Convention. But then Russia was continually rebuffed in the 2000s. European leaders seemed to be afraid of repeating the successful experiment for peace that turned post-Nazi Germany (the largest and most powerful power) into a loyal partner in economic development. France was joined with Italy, the Benelux and then UK, Ireland, Denmark and the CEEC. Germany became a partner not an eternal enemy. The existing European Community in 2000s could have done the same by extending the European Communities (Coal and Steel, Euratom and the Single Customs Market) to a full European Energy Community (based on gas, petroleum and coal) under the same or similar democratising institutions that had such great results with Germany and the Soviet Bloc of the CEEC. That would have used the energy vector for peace. Instead it is now the vector for war. In fact this Energy Community extending to Russia was proposed under the Dutch Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers. But the other leaders shrugged it off. The Biden administration seems to think that destroying the NordStream pipelines will help Biden achieve an end to war and his successful re-election, according to Seymour Hersh. Instead it exposes the level of corruption, and disillusion, not only in USA, but Ukraine and Russia too. Many officials are no regretting as this sabotage and its perpetrators are being exposed. Using NATO as an instrument of imperialistic planning is not what Schuman intended. The European countries are following the same path of corruption or submission to US corruption and geopolitical ignorance -- and it won't lead to peace. What is needed is geopolitical analysis and action to turn this terrible tide. The main beneficiary of this self-destruction that turns Russia as a European and Christian power into and enemy of both USA and the West is China. The Chinese Communist party are laughing all the way to achieving what they believe is their dream, world power. The Chinese people are also the dire victims of CCP manipulative autocracy.

Indeed and the apologists in the comments below forget that the USA is CURRENTLY engaged in conflicts throughout the world. Yes the USA is hypocritical. IT has undermined tons of sovereign governments and peoples. Yes Russia is also clearly hypocritical. Yes they are both invaders. Yes they have both caused a great deal of suffering and death and continue to do so. The problem is people say you cannot point out a wrong if you don't point out all wrongs at once because that is in itself hypocritical. Ah well. Even a psychopath can point out the truth about other psychopaths. It does not liberate either of them from being responsible for their crimes. Nor does it make them atone.

This example is true of all the Eastern European States that Joined the EU. R….a is cut out of Free trade even with its closest neighbours, R….a is being blockaded and contained by the Trade Arrangement required by EU membership. If Ukraine was also to join the EU then this would be yet another Economic sanction made against R….a. NATO just protects the position and practice of these Countries, NATO is not the source of the problem, the trading relationship is the Source and Origin of this conflict. We can argue that R….a was not militarily provoked but they certainly were economically provoked. The expansion of the EU is a direct threat to R….a. Spot on and same here! As was revealed in the documentary, Clinton actually sensed that putin was someone that the US was going to have great difficulty working with. But like all politicians on the world stage, they don't have the guts to call as they see it. Let's face it .... putin played the USA from Jr bush through our Tangerine-Colored Domestic Terrorist. Biden has been the only US President to stand up to the Dictator / Autocrat.

If you want to learn about Russia, its people , culture and history - dont listen to her and people like her . Dig into extensive and rich Russian literature . She is born in Russia , migrated to US when she was 7 , educated in US . Her employer sent her back to Russia for 3 yrs to writte for some shitty magazine all the bad stuff about Russia . She is a third grade journalist who was paid to shit on her country of birth and she isnt even welcome to Russia by the people , not by " evil kremlin " . Common people in Russia cant stand her.

@yaphet831 Жыл бұрын
@@taylorhackford What is incorrect?
@taylorhackford Жыл бұрын
@@yaphet831 that Russia did not have an agreement with the West that NATO would not encroach. The 2017 declassified documents from the US and multiple other European countries confirm that the agreement was in place. Baker mentioned it repeatedly. This is laughable that it didn’t happen. Every time she mentions Putin’s thoughts, beliefs, ideas, ideals, fears, frustrations, deep seeded rage. These are all convenient projections on her part to allow her to build her story of Putin (sold as fact, but which are all manufactured) and then strawman whenever it’s convenient. I’m not here to defend Russia or Putin in any way, but simply to point out that this interviewee is a fraud. This 2022 war had its beginnings when Obama and Biden organised regime change in Ukraine in 2014. Installing a pro American regime in Ukraine was the first step of getting Ukraine into NATO, which was met with Russian annexation of Crimea. Nothing through Trump years, then Biden pushes NATO forward again and we have this war. Don’t forget that Biden extorted pro Russian businesses in Ukraine once the country began to be run by a pro US government. Hunter was placed on the Burisma Board to get kickbacks for the mafia style extortion racket the Biden’s were running. Biden even bragged about getting the special prosecutor in Ukraine fired when he was investigating these crimes. Many actual journalists who have real insight into this war provide actual worthwhile talking points free of personal projection, which makes up the bulk of this interviewees answers.

As a Russian, I can tell you that it's only worth listening to until the 30th minute. Then all hell breaks loose. She knows nothing about the conflict in Georgia. She starts spouting the most vicious nonsense about racism in Russia, memes with Obama, Putin's and Russians' attitudes towards Obama, Trump and Biden. In short, this lady knows nothing about Russia for the last 10-12 years.

She is a freaking liar. Mr. Baker promised to Gorbaciov, that NATO wouldn't move one inch eastward. On 12th December 2017 The National Defence Archives of George Washington State University declassified the minutes of the Baker Gorbachiov dicussion which proves that such a promise was given to a Russian Leader. It's not only Baker to said it to him, there were several western leaders did: the Western German leadership, etc. Please watch the most truthful speech: Vladimir Pozner: How United States created Vladimir Putin Yale University website - 9 million views...

Being born in Russia makes me believe she really does know the truth. Winston Churchill once said Russia is a riddle wrapped in mystery inside an enigma. I do believe we Americans are not saints and have some dark past in history as well. It's possible that Putin in his mind is protecting Russia from NATO being to close to his turf. He does have a good argument there.
