If I remember correctly the Narpas 1h caster sword is a Mage exclusive from Arcanist Doan in Scarlet Monestary, a quest chain where Mages get to turn the caster dagger from SM into a the Narpas sword.

I feel like a raving madman since noone else is talking about it, but with Sheath of Light in stead of Infusion of Light, and Crusader mana return buff, wouldn't AP (except 3set) work really well for a Shockadin? Youd manage CS, DS, Exo and HS. You can go full 2H blaster with div str/improved SoR in stead of the traditional holy route and get some value out of windfury now too.

Cant wait for the Schockadon i wanted that for ever hope we get More runes for the play style but also More runes for healing paladin cause He is a bit off now. I don't understand...can you combine items for your set from all professions? Are they not bind on pick? I mean can i wear the engineer shield even though iam not an engineer?

The helmet requires 225 blacksmithing to wear, the shield and belt require 225 engineering, being both seems very very expensive, but technically they are BiS so i guess you just have to pick and chose other items that are 2nd BiS for the profession you chose not to have

phase 1 was really inexpensive to level profs. I still think maybe 1 - 200 might be cheap. However the last 25 point will go up in price.

Melee range Holy Shockadin support is what I will be playing at 40. Able to do this since our 10 man has 2 consistent healers but I can substitute if we have a no show.

With those runes you are going to be permanently out of mana, i think the mana generating rune that lowers your own healing casts is a must have to sustain mana, even with the mana you gain from being healed with glove rune

100% correct. The art of war rune isnt that great imo. I think its trash tbh right now. Mana is a big issue. Guarded by the light is way better.

Shockadin will use righteousness because it has spell scaling unlike martyrdom and you will also go shockadin for tanking. Deep protection will absolutely uselss as it has no threat and no sustain

leather head got the strengh removed so plate classes won't feel obligated to pick leatherworking instead of blacksmithing. The Blacksmith helm is actually the bis, not the leather.

Consecration has a spell coefficient (scaling) of 33%, Holy Shock and Exorcism has 42.85% scaling.

Melee range, almost like a ret. Seal of marty or righteous (depends if you go for divine storm). Holy Shock, Exorcism, Judgement, Crusader Strike, auto attacks. When you have art of war proc, you use it to cast Holy shock.

You do not want The art of war as a ret paladin, It’s better to use Guided by The Light for the mana regeneration. You are going to cast more exorcisms than reset cooldowns with it in the long run

Its in Booty Bay. Rix Xizzix is the npc Blizzard has announced that players seeking to try different roles for their class can now buy a different Void Pearl trinket from BFD as long as they have completed the quest to get one. This works more like a swap because this vendor is only available for characters that have completed the quest given by the pearl. Along with this new vendor, the trinkets have been made so you can only have one of them with you at all times, so if you want to purchase one for one of your other specs, you'll need to vendor your old one before. The trinkets have a steep cost of 75 in the vendor.@@wowandrss

For Ret you can use the Hunter/Shaman tier chest for 1% crit and instead use the Feral/Rogue tier boots (+legs) to get the leather tier 2 set bonus. Also, with regards to mana, you're correct. In sims with Art of War we run out of mana (as ret) in 58 seconds, we can kinda combat this with Judgement of Wisdom and mana potions ...but Exorcism is very expensive to use on cooldown. The other option would be to swap Divine Storm rune with Martyrdom rune, but then you don't actually regain the damage loss from not having Divine Storm. Maybe in later phases when we have Dark Runes/Demonic Runes and some other effects to help our mana this will change- but for P2 it's looking a bit too mana intensive to use Art of War procs 24/7.

They need to buff martyrdom damage. The fact that an aoe spell with healing components is better on single target than the seal from the same rune slot is nutty.

Think they bugged the mana gain from martydom from 10% to 20%. It's so hard to pass on Divine storm :(

I don't think you can justify not taking 3/3 improved seal of the crusader for ret. That's a 15% boost to holy dmg caused..

It’s 15% of the increased dmg bonus when judged. It adds plus 80 to holy dmg so 3/3 would add an additional 12 dmg to holy attacks, at 40

It’s not to get another one. You have to trade your current one or sell it and pay 75g. Can only ever hold one. That’s a steep price to pay to switch it up so make sure you want switch it

Why wouldn't you spec into the holy tree to grab consecration as prot? Reckoning and Holy Shield are both far inferior to consecrate in terms of aoe threat, because they require that all the mobs are already hitting you. Also, the one hander you chose, while not bad for aoe situations, will be vastly inferior in terms of single target threat compared to the 1.3 speed mace from BFD. Not many people know this, but rank 3 of SotR has a higher SP coefficient than any other rank, and with Sheath of Light, prot paladins now have somewhere in the realm of 300-400 spell power, depending on your gearing choices. This results in the 1.3 speed weapon hitting for an additional 70+ holy dmg per auto, on a 1.3 second swing timer. The 14 SP you get from the 1h you're using will extremely marginally benefit consecrate, holy shield, or BoS, and the swing timer will result in a downgrade for SotR damage. Not saying your spec won't work, just that there's a spec that does more damage, generates more threat, and provides significantly better AOE threat capability. I'd say drop everything past 3rd row in the prot tree, and spec into divine strength, imp SotR, and consecrate. My consecrate ticks for 40.

Well, as a prot paladin who’s been full clearing since launch, full prot is def the way to go. These bosses slap especially the last 2, heavy mitigation allows you to survive, I’m having no issues with threat using DS and taunting an occasional stray. For dungeon content conc build all day every day.

@@Frostadamus For Raid, putting 3/3 in improved seal of crusader gives us 15% increased holy damage for the whole fight, as long as we keep hitting the boss. Repentance isn't needed for raid - I'd rather put that point in divine strength for 2% more strength. What are your thoughts on that?

I am with you, I don't plan on getting repentance at all. 2% str, as bad as it feels not getting a 31 point talent. IMO blizz should've done something with repentance on runes; turned it into damage instead of CC or something.@@lincolnw12

Define "obsession". For boots, all we "know" we are getting are art of war, guarded by the light, and sacred shield. Obviously as a dps you aren't picking sacred shield, and guarded by the light is effectively mana regen, so art of war becomes default unless you plan on just dummping your mana. For belt, there may be a better argument as it is between infusion of light , sheath of light, and enlightened judgements. The range on the judgements isn't hugely beneficial (unless we get some odd mechanics), but the 17% spell hit may be. Realistically it's all going to boil down to what holy shock ends up looking like. Considering you need to spec deep into holy for it, I think blizz is going to need to make adjustments to make it worth it in PVE, in terms of being a competitive DPS.
