We broke down hauling our RV from Oregon to Moab, Utah. We drove our RV over 2,000 miles round trip from Portland, Oregon down to Moab Utah to visit the National and State Parks as well as to attend the Easter Jeep Safari. We faced some challenges including breaking down on a very fast and busy highway. We camped at a number of RV parks along the way. Our route took us through Eastern Oregon, Idaho, and Utah. We had all sorts of weather along the way including downpours, sunshine and even some snow. We got to see some incredible scenery including trips to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We also went to Goblin Valley and Deadhorse Point State Parks. That doesn't even include the awesome views we saw from the Jeep trails. There is a lot of material so I am breaking this up into a few episodes. Really hope you enjoy and if so would love if you would subscribe to our channel. Would also appreciate any comments, feedback, etc. Our goal is to make our adventures as entertaining as possible for you the viewer. We are constantly upgrading equipment and learning more and more with each upload. Also would love any tips from you seasoned travelers. Since we are so new to this we have a lot to learn. Until next time. Take Care.

Good point. Normally I don’t even touch 65. In this particular case I was just trying to get by some semis on a steep incline. The issue was a coolant leak. Ford recall.
@rvninnorthcarolina3377

As an FYI, do yourself a favor and do not exceed 65 while towing. It is not a matter of your truck handling, but the (likely) rating on your trailer tires. You need to check your speed rating on the tires to verify, but standard rating is 65. Some manufacturers like the Maxxis or Goodyear Endurance will have higher ratings. If in doubt, stay below 65. Lots of KZbin threads on this subject so I will let you dig if you want to know more. I prefer to stay at 65 anyway...whats the rush..enjoy the journey! Great tip on the Thermacell...I will be giving that a try! Great video and thanks for sharing!

@@adventuresofjandk Some RV'ers dont know Trailer tires don't have the same speed ratings as their tow vehicles. Not a matter of "speeding" as much a matter to know what you tires are rated for...mine currently are 65 MPH rated so even when the road speed limit is 70, I go 65. (yes, yes...gonna change that soon!) I think you have Good Year Endurance trailer tires and I think they are rated for 87 (saw them on your video for the trailer tour!)....so for you, this discussion is irrelevant! (but you should verify :-) )
@DeltaEchoZulu
@DeltaEchoZulu 5 жыл бұрын
If you have Goodyear Endurance from factory, they are likely rated at 87mph. We typically just stay with traffic and large trucks. Will do 70 or so, no problems in over 3K miles with our 2285 and F150 Lariat 3.5EB. Definitely slower is better but the TT should travel just fine.

Stayed in Green River last summer. Local told us to grab some beer and go like 10 miles upriver to a beach in the canyon. Amazing views, really cool beach with a campsite (maybe 10-15 camp spots) right on the river. Totally would have missed it if not for that tip from locals. Rafters go upriver put in and raft all the way to town. Tiny town, great scenery.

My tow vehicle is a '18 RAM Rebel Hemi that has the 2 fans; 1 electric and 1 mechanical. I just bought the electric fan mod that removes the mechanical fan for more airflow. I've also slowed down to 60-65 mph and lower on climbs. My mpg has gone up by almost 2 mpg and the fan does not kick in nearly as much. I am interested to see what happens when the fan mod is installed. Heading up to Zion for a week this Sunday, Bryce/Escalante in June, Colorado in July then an August cruise to Alaska! :-) Thanks! Have fun and be safe!!!

lol 8 hours, thats what it takes us from Miami, Fla to the Georgia State Line, with a rented travel trailer. Oh well April Showers. Here April is always dry and beautiful. OK so man your missing allot.. Like weight your towing, how is the truck handling. What is you trucks tongue weight. What readings were you getting when you stopped from the over heating . You mentioned 75 mph on what type of grade and attitude? Badass truck. Lariat 3.5 Ecoboost is sweet . Man talk to us a little more about mpg's truck/towing characteristics etc. What is the avg speed you drive while towing. LANCE, a pricey quality trailer with no friction hinges on the door, which would stop the door from a violent swing away and mess up the trailer or one of you. Anyway i have enjoyed watching you two and Daisy. My favorite part here is hanging out with the folks, and actually using that dining table.. Oh to funny man .. the jumping off the cliff deal.. Thanks for the reply. I also hope you don't run into any issues. It was definitely stressful at times driving that many miles but we also made some great memories and learned a ton. One thing I learned was just to take your time and don't let others force you to drive outside your comfort level. He hit a lot of wind that really slowed us down in spots and that was the worst part but I just slowed down and made sure we made it home safe. Have a great trip and be safe as well.

@@adventuresofjandk just an idea but a standard transmission is better for pulling trailer's but your trailer is not that big . Did the dealer fix your truck ? There are plenty of automatics out pulling heavy loads. If you are going over a pass i know that you are supposed to take it out of overdrive. My Ford ranger has a button on the shifter to take it out overdrive while going up a mountain pass and it has worked just fine pulling a trailer, that eco boost must be a different breed of transmission.
