I just swapped my Stock gimbals after using them since 2017. They had mad stick drift. and new ones are soooo smooth. I have the Standard X9D+ but With upgraded sticks and ELRS

If you cannot get the color you want in mode 2, go for mode 1 and switch. In the Taranis that is VERY simple to do (adjust the tension straps on the gimbals and change in the settings screen and you are done). I encourage anyone with a new TX to adjust the gimbal spring tension to the way they like it. Makes flying so much better. Love the Taranis line (and OpenTX). Been using it for over 3 years before I ever started with drones. Cannot be beaten on value for money.

I've been trying to set my throttle endpoints on my Taranis X9D plus for months now with no luck. The videos that i have found on setting the throttle endpoints are not the Taranis they are other transmitters and the "beeps" that I need to listen for are of a different sequence that what the Taranis emits and thus the endpoints are not set. What to do?

Great videos and you've just about sold me on the x9d + se. What about controlling my gimbal? I'm looking for smooth slider type switches, similar to on x9d but not 3 way switches, smooth. Can these be smoothed out similar to what you did with left stick? Or replaced with something?

I have the dx6. It’s a great controller but the reception is only about 300 feet. And then Ladron will drop out of the sky but it’s OK it works right I hear is better for airplanes. Thank you for the reply it’s like hearing from a movie star LOL

I think the main reason you like it so much because you've got used to it :) I've got the budget QX7 and it's ok. I just started flying but if it gets serious, I would like to get one of this X9D Plus with the skull design. edit: I meant X9D Plus SE

+Zoltan Gremsperger true. But the X9D was actually my 7th radio. So I went through quite a few before deciding it was the best. And this just improves upon it.

Will be holding on to my x7 for a while longer. Strange that FrSKY dosen`t have a thumb controller for the gamer bois. Should be a market for that as they are are used to the ps and xbox form factor. Two thumbs up to your review, DroneRacer101!

+SimSweden19 I’ll be doing a more straightforward comparison soon. But do you plan on ever doing long range? If so get the SE. Does taking the battery out of the radio to charge it bother you? If so, get the SE. Are you planning on doing any FPV with planes? If so, get the SE. If none of those apply, get the S.

I use the qx7, but that's because I'm poor. I would buy and use this one (plus SE) if I could afford. I'm flying LOS now and saving for goggles and vtx. Will probably be about 8 months till I'm flying FPV! Can't wait! Thanks for great content!

Nice. I am just upgrading my regular X9D+ a bit at a time, rather than buying a whole new radio. You can get the M9 gimbals pretty cheaply now, unlike when they were first released - you couldn't even get them in stock anywhere. BTW, that isn't a 3S balance plug socket in there, it is too small. If I had to guess, I would say that it is a port for some sort of diagnostic interface. The manual simply says that it is 'reserved'.

It’s complicated. The first generation could but there are not many of those around. The new ones can but need a chip installed that I haven’t done but have heard is a tricky bit of soldering. It just works in the X9D series.

Do you think there is a benefit to me, who only flies micro and mini drones, to move to this or any of the Taranis radios instead of the Turnigy Evolution, which I use now?

+BigD451 it depends on your plan. Will you be going out several hundred meters? Will you be in a scenario where an audio battery warning would be helpful. Those are a couple of scenarios where the FrSky wins. But, Betaflight OSD has helped level the playing field.

I’m thinking about switching from Spektrum to the x9d plus se to use with my new Batman 220, but I’ve heard people have range issues. Do you know if RSSI range issues are very common now, or has FrSky resolved the range issue? Thanks.

Nice! I'd like those gimbals! Though for my (limited) money I'll stick with the TGY-i10 at $99. Its features and advantages speak for themselves IMO, and with a latency to i-bus of only ~6ms it is way faster too. ;)

I know this is as polarizing as Apple & Android, but so many transmitters to choose from bumping up from "toy" quads. Which would be a better choice for a newbie spectrum or frsky?

+Thomas Gehrdes Jr Apple, it does what it does without issue and I spend next to no time on support. I don’t even have to help my 4 year old with her iPad. I don’t want anyone in my family to have an Android. Thankfully they don’t all fly FPV. :-). So for that I want full customization if I need it. Which is what FrSky gives me. Spektrum just works. But isn’t nearly as flexible. At least not until you get really expensive. This is solely for mini quads. Spektrum has some advantages for planes and helis.

I have heard that too. But I have used the heck out of mine and had 0 issues over 9? Months now. The one thing I heard JB say when he had issues with his was that he removes the antenna regularly and he uses a higher db antenna. I don’t do either of those. It fits in the case with the antenna so I don’t take it off.

This will do full telemetry. It’s a matter of receiver choice. The most popular receivers over the last year, XM and XM+, didn’t have telemetry. But the newish R-XSR does and is the size of an XM+

Nice radio but it's over kill. If you are just flying drones just get the QX7 or a Flysky FS I6s both can do everything you need. Please don't waste your money on the Turnigy Evolution.

+Brandon Purdy it depends on where you are and long term plans. On a budget and can barely afford to get started, the i6 will get you in the air. But the X7 is a much better choice if you can swing it because it really can do everything . But over time you are going to spend money on it, case, new gimbals eventually, battery, want that antenna mod?, or to use xfire?, so long term I think it is worth it. If I had this when I started I wouldn’t have had to put any money into it like mine. Theoretically
