Just want to say that I appreciate this video greatly. Well presented and perfectly explicit as to the differences through the line. Ive been flying freestyle quads (and ap drones) for about 5 years now and I jumped into Spektrum only because the first custom quad I purchased came with one. (Ebay) Skip ahead to 2019 and Spektrum has done NOTHING for the custom race/freestyle industry. I mean nothing. No innovations, no advancements, nothing. The best receivers you can get now are from 3rd party manufacturers for the most part. I am pretty brand loyal but after seeing how much you can do to customize your experience, change software, update with mods and modules, its just a no brainer anymore. FrSky is king in this hobby now and I am for one glad to have made the switch. I decided to do it right too, and went straight to the x9d SE as it seemed close to my dx8 in look and feel. I am so HAPPY I did. This controller is amazing! And thats not hype, its fact. The gimbals are amazing. The battery lasts forever. The interface is EASY to understand and navigate. Cant wait to spend another 5 years with this in my hands! Thanks bud!

If you like a bigger screen you need to try the x10/x10s! And the nob is a must just like the gimble after you use it for a while you never want to go back!!!

To anyone wondering which one to get? try them on first! if possible... I had the chance to try both the X9DS and the QX7S (Size and Ergonomics wise) and damn!! the difference between the 2 is drastic... The X9DS is a behemoth and the weight difference is massive, At least for my personal taste the QX7S is the size and weight comfortable to me. Look for your local flying arenas and try to test drive both before buying!!

Hall effect reffers to the way the motion is sensed, i think you are saying they feel better because they are CNC maschined vs plastic ones

Another good thing about the x7s is the grip and the superior antenna. I went with that because it has the best feel at my work I'm using the x9ds plus which is also really nice

The horus does have a removeable battery you just have to unscrew the 4 screws in the back and nothing is actually connected to the backplate so its actually a crazy good radio for 369 bucks👍

QX7 user with M7R and M7 hall gimbals. When I needed another one I was looking at QX7s but it's just not priced right. They should be selling that radio without case and stuff like that and make the price closer to QX7 not to X9d plus.

I recently bought a Jumper T16 and it's got a nice splashy monitor and easy scroll wheel etc.. but.. It just doesn't feel good in my hands like my Taranis X9D.. I sure wish that Taranis would simply add the scroll wheel to this amazing TX..

While I know why people go for the frsky system I still like my flysky fs-i6s, particularly the touch screen. When the gimbals die I'll get a jumper t8sg plus with hall effect gimbals so I don't have to change up all my receivers. But thanks for the comparison Mark 👍

At the age of 64 I've decided to get into drone flying/racing. Before I build/buy a quad I want to buy a radio and spend some time on a sim. Does the QX7 have a usb port to plug into a sim or do I need to get the X9D. I'm really not considering the QX7s because of the price. The X9D is only about $20 more.

They all have a USB port you can use for a simulator, so no worries there. The QX7 is a great option for the price. It's the best pick for most people. If you can swing it I love the X9D Plus SE, but the QX7 really is great.

Incorrect X7 and X7S does display RSSI and telemetry options on main screen need to install Lua Scrip from OPEN TX.

@itsalmostover when upgrading the firmware for the first time, uncheck the "check for hardware compatibility" box. For some reason it will not update without doing this.

You need to get your facts correct regarding the X10s battery life. I have an X10s and the battery life is fantastic and I have my screen active while in use.

Good morning, Mark. I have a question for you. I am looking at getting into quad flying, and am wondering if the the QX7 can be easily used with computer sims? I don't have a large budget, but I miss the world of R/C. I used to race street cars and buggies. Then had a glider for a bit... so I am familiar with RC. What radio would you recommend that will work with computer sims and be a good radio for when I do get out in the field? Thanks man!

it’s really easy to use with a SIM, just plug in the mini USB port and your computer will recognize it. It’s a little hard to get ahold of at the moment. But if you like that form factor it’s really nice.

Hi Mark, I've had the QX7 for quite a while - I've upgraded the battery, installed M7's & have Lau script, so for me its perfect now. I was wondering if the Qx7s shell is completely identical as I'd like the blue case and the Qx7 is only available in white & black as a spare.

+Angel Adriann there's a antenna mod for the i6 transmitter it's just the same as frysky antenna mod swapping the antenna with 5or6 dbi or 10dbi wifi antenna,s lookup flysky i6 antenna mod and you will find it it's easy iv just got the 10dbi one's but haven't had time to swapping them over yet

Angel Adriann Flysky fsi6 works, but you just have to be more careful on the gimbal movements. Distance should be good for 200m or a bit more and should be sufficient for casual flying. Frsky tx just feels more solid in the hand.

I think so, The sticks are easy to replace and I think the spacing is more important for thumbers. But that comes from a thumber.

tay jin chong yeah just the qx7. The qx7s comes with a rechargable battery. You will upgrade to that once you realize how much the qx7 eats those AAs up. Ask me how I know.

Yep, it has a battery tray as they mentioned. For me I would just get 8 rechargeable AA batteries. Run off of 4 of them and keep 4 on the charger all the time.

Unfortunatly that is the case now. When I recorded this there was only a small difference. But the x9D+ has gone down and the x9dSE has gone up.
